  • Tis the season when the Lake Trout finally move shallow in numbers! 30-60 fish days are common as these fish are sure to eat every stick-bait you have in sight! Although a variety of baits will work, the Rumble B's from Northland Tackle are our go-to.

The drone shots are so cool. Really appreciate the effort put into capturing some of those shots!

Nice work and great fish! Just wondering why you wouldn't cast for them when they are that shallow....way more exciting and interactive setting the hook compared to trolling!

These fish didnt set up for a casting bite in our minds. Fish that are 20-40 feet down are tough to cast to, especially when they are smaller fish in general. If they were in 2-10 feet of water, you bet we would have.

Did Northland buy the bagley molds from 10 years ago? I have some bagley cranks that look exactly the same. Regardless they are great lures.

Yup! Not sure how it all worked out but yeah Northland and Bagley are one in the same now.

Grant great video! Do you have a video that goes over your rod/reel setups that you use with your planer boards?

Just curious why mono over fluorocarbon or braid with and long fluorocarbon or mono leader?

Just personal preference. Theres never one right way to do things. We just prefer all the stretch mono has to offer in this situation.

Amazing videos. I am just getting into Lake trout fishing and look to travel to Lake Huron, Manitoulin this spring. I imagine this early season technique would be similar? I have seen all your early season lake trout videos and this one you target water temp in 48-52F (June). In your earlier videos you were in low 40deg temp and were quite successful (April). If you have 1 time to choose what water temp would you prefer to try this technique at or what time of year? Any help would be greatly appreciated
