    People need to stop with this myth that Rafa's style is somehow more physical than anybody else's. Guys like Federer, Djokovic, etc, have put just as many miles on their legs as Rafa, with just as many swings of the racket. EVERY professional tennis player begins to break down in their late 20's and early 30's. Which is why it's INSANE what Roger has done. He was already the greatest of all-time, but then to have the type of comeback that even Ali or Jordan couldn't have just puts him in a league of his own.
    Rafa hurts himself with all of the wasted extra movement and effort. His silly rituals are a part of that.
    Let's compare the following:
    Between points, Roger stands and lets the ball kids toss the balls to him, or bring him his towel.
    Between points, Rafa walks all the way over to the ball kids to get the ball and/or his towel.
    Between points, Roger moves the racket to his off-hand so his primary one isn't always carrying or gripping the racket.
    Between points, Rafa keeps the racket in his left hand.
    Between points and games, Roger uses very little movement and what he does is relaxed.
    Between points and games, Rafa walks a specific path to cross the T at the baseline, around it if necessary, shuffles his stupid water bottles around a certain way, etc.
    Before the serve, Roger bounces the ball between 3-5 times and moves right into his service motion.
    Before the serve, Rafa bounces the ball 20+ times which leaves him bent over longer. This is harder on his back over time.
    When chasing the ball, Roger uses smooth, gliding steps to get into position.
    When chasing the ball, Rafa uses dozens of short, abrupt steps. While equally good for getting into position, this creates hundreds of high impact jolts on the ankles and knees during a match.
    Roger tends to keep a very loose grip on the racket, frequently rolling it around in his hands.
    Rafa has a death's vice grip on the racket almost at all times leading to all his blisters and taped up fingers.
    This isn't about his style of play. His buggy whip swing, his grunting, his sliding, his explosive sprints all over the court...those aren't hurting him as much as all of the worthless ticks and rituals.
    While some of it is genetics, habits, etc, all of these little things add up to breaking Rafa's body down all the time. His PED use from 2008-2011 notwithstanding, he's hurting himself with all of the ritualistic ticks that keep him focused. Roger is not only the better, more complete player - he's also doing literally all of the little things to better protect his body.

      Nadal's game was definitely much more physical than the others for a big part of his career. He didn't have the technique ( of Federer or Djokovic or of the top 1-3 level I mean) but had the physicality. Would always get to the ball and return it with power and strength (but at quite safe places on the court) And ventually he also built the technique and became super-sayan, supertop at technique.

      Well, if you meet him in person you would know. He is two faced. Treats the upper echelon people of his sport with respect. However, if you, for example, just being a regular person, were to attempt to start a conversation with him......he would be aloof, dismissive and abrupt. In other words, to him you are a nobody and he has no time for you. That's Boris's problem.

    • @EziooAuditore
      @EziooAuditore 6 лет назад +11

      GOAT doesn't mean best at everything. It just means better than the others. If Fed isn't GOAT, then who is it? Fed has 4 more grand slams than Nadal and 8 more than Djokovic. He spent considerably many more weeks at number One. He has more GS finals, semi-finals and quarter-finals than them.
      I can't speak for their H2H with Djokovic but against Nadal, most of their encounters were on clay where Nadal is better. But on grass and hard courts, Federer is leading against Nadal. It's not Fed's fault that Federer gets to the finals of grass and hard court tournaments while Nadal loses earlier against other weaker opponents.

    • @ethanchong5978
      @ethanchong5978 6 лет назад +5

      As for his H2H against djokovic, you must realise most of it was when federer was declining from injuries and age and novak was at his peak. It’s a miracle federer managed to stage a comeback.
