@@flamingofixed It means what it suggests, one revolution of the pedals propels the bike in that gearing 85 inches. It's only a point of reference I have a four fixed gear bikes two are around 75 gear inches one is 76 GI and the other 77 GI. Knowing what they feel like allows me to judge how much harder 85 GI must be. I live in a very hilly area so will probably never try that high a gearing at least not here. 😅
Ah cool, thanks for explaining. But then this also depends on tire size as it influences the circumference of the wheel?! Yeah if I'd ride in supper hilly region all the time I'd probably also go down to 50/18 or something like that.
Haha yeah on my work bike that I use in the city I'm running 50/18 but since it's super flat around here the training bike has a bit higher gear. For the way back it was perfect though 😄
Yes it's a small squeeze thing for gels. I got the one from GU but I guess you could also take those soft flasks for runners. It's nice because you don't have to get rid of all the plastic waste on your ride and don't risk accidentally littering when they fall out of your pockets. I sometimes get the big GU energy refil packs when they are on sale but also have (not to my full satisfaction yet) experimented with making energy gel myself.
very cool
Thank you. Guess I'll ride the track again when it's a bit warmer again.
86 gear inches Herculean! 👍
Actually, closer to 85, but still pretty tough!
I never understood how this imperial thing to describe gears works. For me it's a 3.125 😄

@@flamingofixed Yeah, you're right tyre size has to be calculated in too I did it assuming 25mm tyres!
I do 52/21 for my commute to work and there is really 1 hill on the way home :). Well done!

hey what is this thing you squeeze at 1:09? is it a refillable gel packet and if so what do you put inside?
