I really want to try fixed gear bikepacking but I live on an island made of mountains and I need the granny ring 😂 Have you ever tried doing an official brevet on a fixed gear? I’ve seen some videos on yt where they did Paris-Brest-Paris on a fixed gear
No I've never done an official brevet. An island full of mountains sounds amazing for cycling 😄 If it's big enough for bikepacking I'd still try to find a route that's possible to do fixed 😅 But then maybe try it if you ever travel to a flatter region, it has its own charm compared to other forms of bikepacking.
Awesome! What a trip!!!. I hope I can buy a fixie and try something that. Is the talk recorded? May be I can listen the talk on RUclips, I don't know. Greetings from Argentina...
I'm not 100% sure but I guess that was a 53/18. My usual bikepacking transmission is 51/18 but I know that this is a 53t Kappstein Elite ring in the video.
@@flamingofixed Wow! That’s big. I’m currently doing long rides with hills (160k, 100k) on a 46/18. Don’t even think I could turn that ratio over. Impressive! Great video. Thx
Partialy thanks to you I made my first single speed bikepacking trip. I was inspired by some gravel ultra race content creators from my country - Poland to figure out the idea. But also I was inspired by you to drive it on my single speed gravel bike. Fixed gear is too hardcore for me, but having one gear is great experiance.
@@flamingofixed It was great. I had to push one hill, but still it was great. I love how little is there to think while riding with one gear. I could focus on the rest of my trip instead of being efficient and thinking aboud speed and rest of technical stuff. I was just moving forward.

What an awesome trip. The route looked amazing. Congrats on the talk!
Absolutely love those fixed gear bike trip man! Really motivating me to push further and further ony bike 🚀
Glad I can motivate you, keep pushing 💪

No unfortunately it wasn't recorded. Maybe I can record it if I get the chance to talk again somewhere.
Funny village names: When you struggle with the headwind and are fighting to reach "Kampf". happened yesterday :)
I haven't seen this one yet. Headwind sounds like it's somewhere in the north?!
@@flamingofixed somewhere +-50km round magdeburg when i remember correctly
20km east of magdeburg
What gear ratio are you on? Looks big. Danke

This is soo cool hearing that I could help/inspire you to do your own adventures 💪♥️ Hope you enjoyed it and didn't regret not having gears 😄

Bei Brandenburg Hvl. gibt es ein Dorf, dass Hundeluft heisst. Fand ich auch sehr cool
Warum nennt man einen Ort so? 😂
I'm going to bikepack on a fixie this summer. Wish me luck
Good luck and have fun. Where are you going?

Das Bike ist echt super schön! Wie befestigst du die Trinkflasche?
Ich hab Löcher in den Rahmen gebohrt, rivet nuts eingenietet und einen einfachen Flaschenhalter angebaut.
Just wanna know what camera are you using for this ride?🤔
On this ride it's just an old GoPro and my rather cheap phone.
Hast du Strava oder Komoot, Jacob?
Sowohl als auch. Komoot eher zum planen und Strava zum dokumentieren.
Die Neunziger haben gerade angerufen und wollen ihre Video Effekte zurück! ;)
what's wrong with you? can't handle a big box of icecream?
I could probably eat a box of three at once but not eight 😅 At least not if I want to keep riding afterwards.
