    I love how people think parabens are dangerous, but botox is just fine. I have unfollowed any of the creators that pushes "clean beauty", but gets botox.
    I do like when argireline is in a product, but I'm certainly not going to go out of my way for it.
    Many blessings!!!💖💖💖

    Before the Ordinary was created, I was using Peter Thomas Roth's Peptide toner and before that, something else with argireline. After 10 or so years, I can say that my forehead doesn't move like it did when I was younger and the elevens I had had, are gone. So, maybe🤷, but I use lots of stuff so no way to know for sure. However, I suffer from hyperhydrosis and Botox is a treatment. My skin hates aluminum antiperspirants and I get horrible acne so when I read about argireline, I started putting the PTR under my arms. It seemed to work and then it was discontinued. That is when the Ordinary made it's appearance. I've been using the Ordinary's argireline serum under my arms ever since and my sweat is now normal on my hands and underarms. I don't use it on my feet and so nothing has changed with them, still so sweaty that I have fallen from sliding inside my shoes🤣. I swear by the stuff. Do I still sweat, yes, do I have to change every couple hours because my clothes are uncomfortable, no. It took at least a year of constant use and I do still sweat and make expressions, just much less.

      Oh wow, that’s so interesting to hear! I was aware of Botox used as a treatment for sweating, but I didn’t think of argireline for it. Thanks for sharing!
      I also thought PTR had something similar before, so I was so surprised this was “new”. Must be a reformulation/update?

    Im so excited that you did this! I was getting botox for migraines and liked how it softened my wrinkles but for the last 3 years ive had cyclic treatment resistant anxiety and depression and after tracking found out it was from botox!! Its even listed as a side effect in their literature. So i am happy to see that i might still be able to get anti wrinkle effects without poisoning myself anymore ❤

I cannot speak at all 😔 Thankfully, Ara is a *hero* who goes with me and explains the situation to the nurses. They’ve all been so kind once it’s explained, even though I can’t verbally thank them. I can say that every one of them has said I’m not alone (along with encouraging words). Perhaps there are dozens of us!

    Argireline works for me. I have been using The Ordinary for years. It seems to have lessened my "11" lines over the 5 years I hve been using it. They are not completely gone, but I will keep using it for the results I've gotten since it is so affordable.

    I honestly don't get why so many people emphasize over and over that Argireline isn't Botox. No shade to you, I'm just baffled that so many people are saying that (I've been recommend countless videos by RUclips). I always understood "Botox in a bottle" as a metaphor. It's like saying "I died laughing", it doesn't mean that I actually died and nobody in their right mind would interpret it that way. It's just meant to express that I was laughing so hard that I almost couldn't breathe and felt like I was dying in an exaggerated way. The same goes for Botox in a bottle, it's not actually Botox because only Botox is Botox. This is Argireline but there are certain similarities that make you feel it could be Botox, but of course not completely. But who knows, maybe it's just me who saw it that way 😂

      I think a lot of us see it that way, but…a lot of people don’t! I read a story on the Ulta subreddit of a customer who was very unhappy that TO’s serum didn’t completely inhibit muscle movement. Part of me really wonders if that one is on short form videos that do a poor job of explaining it, ugh (I hesitate to fully blame influencers as the short form is another part of the issue imo - multi-faceted, if you will!)

      Just because you understand that "botox in a bottle" is just a metaphor that doesn't mean that others too. Spread that metaphor to a bunch of pre-teens in social media (like tiktok) and see it spread like a wildfire. Look at what happened with the misinformation about Bachuchiol...

    For me, the ordinary argireline is a HG and I will never be without it. I have never thought it was "botox in a bottle", nor are the effects going to be permanent, they aren't with botox, either. I have used many peptide containing products, and none have smoothed the lines on my forehead, smile lines, lines around my lips, and hooded lids like argireline. How do I know it is the argireline? Because I have done extended travel for months without it and can see a difference, and I travel with other peptide serums. I personally like the liquid texture because I can put it on and it absorbs quickly so that I can move on to the next serum/essence.

    Placebo effect is why I’m always skeptical of new skincare claims. Argireline sounds promising, but based on the results that I’ve heard people say they’ve gotten it sounds no different than the results I’ve gotten from using other peptides. I am almost 80 and been into “anti-aging “ skincare for only about 4 years (well, since the lockdown, and I got bored and tuned into too many you tubes-lol). I wonder if I am too old to see many results from any anti-aging products? I do have good skin, have always taken care of it, but never even heard the words “retinol or tretinoin”, until lockdown! Thank you for this deep-dive, Alice! So interesting. For me, even if Argireline DOES have a minor effect, it isn't changing the structure of the skin in any way, so it's just smoke and mirrors. I guess that's no different from makeup (which I don't wear), but I just want my skincare to be making long-term improvements: not just pretending it is. One could argue that Argireline, if it works and if you use it until the end of time, could ultimately inhibit static wrinkles, but that just seems like a lot of effort for no guaranteed payoff. I'm certainly not devoting a whole serum/step in my routine to it, and I've outgrown The Ordinary in general. They can keep their horde of "+HA" serums (as if that's somehow still a marketing point?). Finally, most of us discussing this topic use a metric excrement-ton of skincare. It would seem that unless you are isolating over a long period of time, it's nigh impossible to know if it's the Argireline or the gestalt of everything being used.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  7 месяцев назад

    Thank you for making the mechanism of Botox and acetyl hexapeptide-8 more understandable. I have dry, mature skin. I used TO’s Argireline around and between my eyes. Between my eyes are little frown lines😠, I did notice that they weren’t not as deep while using acetyl hexapeptide-8, nor can I make those lines as easily. I now use products containing acetyl hexapeptide-8, but I didn’t get a new bottle of TO’s Argireline during the November sale. I appear to have kept some of my results, but not all. I think it worked better in TO’s product because it is likely more concentrated.
