I see the dreaming mind is like a child. You have to talk to it and pay attention to it, so it can learn to speak to you. You have to care for it and patiently support its growth and skills. You should never get frustrated or scold your dreaming mind for not living up to your expectations. You should make learning to dream fun for your dreaming mind. Enthusiasm goes a long way. Once your dreaming mind speaks to you, it will speak the language that you understand.

*Profound insight* ~ we are one human organism. While there are many parts, the sum total is our collective consciousness. When we view our disagreements under this canopy, we resolve differences with ease. All individual mind streams flow in this collective consciousness. It is this collective consciousness that gets passed from one generation to the next. I am reading approaching the path by the Dalai Lama if anyone is interested. Really good book. Buddhism is totally misunderstood. It’s all about using logic and reason to train our mind in our pursuit to understand our true nature. It’s perfect. It’s beautiful. 38:35 I relate to this description, and have been struggling with wanting to find this internal path but worried about quitting everything and what family and society will think if I quit.
People love talking about psychedelics when it comes to this topic. Personally what i found had the greatest impact on me when it comes to substances is dissociatives, which are more niche i guess.
“Mind over matter”. The ego is inextricably tethered to the body(matter). The Mind(The Self),however, transcends both. The Mind, existing and pre-existing outside of the space-time realm, will continue to exist even though the body is no more. The Self is of Divine origin. Allow It alone to be your guide. “Although the body will be destroyed, You will never cease”, said an Ancient Sage --“Christ The Living Tao” Your insightful videos are much appreciated.
To be honest, Waking Up, Growing Up, and Cleaning Up each deserve a video (and more), which I plan for the future. Here I was striving to give the overall lay of the land, which I'll hopefully get to elaborate in the future.
Reminds me of the book 'The Cosmic Game' by Stanislav Grof where he talks about 'holotropic' (altered) states in various cultures; some use meditation, dance, chanting, or psychedelic plants. An altered state is synonymous with a spiritual experience and our everyday waking consciousness is more built for survival in the world rather than a transcendent state.
It is a paradox to "grow" into your "true" self. simply not possible, you started out your true self, changing made you your changed self. In order to become your true self, you must learn how to unchange, how to fold back time and to become who you began.
Almost, but it is even simpler. To become you're true self, is not to grow into it, nor to revert back to a past state that has gone, rather it is to realise that you have always been your true self, that there has never been anything that could be profound enough to have kept you from being your true self, for anything that keeps you from it, exists within it. Enlightenment is but a gate through which you pass to see, that there was never a gate in the first place. You are your true self, you have always been, and you will always be.
I am reading approaching the Path by his holiness, the Dalai Lama. He speaks about the stream of consciousness. Present moment consciousness is condition upon the previous moment. It gets really interesting when we think about rebirth. This stream of consciousness embeds itself in the biological body at the moment of conception. Where do you think the stream of consciousness comes from? We each have our own stream of consciousness conditioned upon our past karma and our present state of mind. So interesting. 🧐 I wonder if there’s a vast ocean of consciousness streaming through the material universe connecting with biological matter forming a cosmic karmic root system. We are the leaves. 🍃 🍁 🍂 Fun to think about ~ great job❤❤❤

I think I've been, these last periods in life, transitioning, or on a period of transtioning, to a more "worldcentric" views and approach towards society and people. Krishnamurti discourses and book, Buddhist view on sense of self, and even Thorfinn's "I have no enemies" views have helped me on this, but I think I was already like this before, just that identity politics drifted me to ehtnocentric more than I should. Also, of course, Jesus Sermon of the Mountain and loving your enemies.
Some questions about this incredible video: 20:21: What do you mean "consciously identifying with experience?" Isn't consciouness itself perception, and isn't it percpetion that creates the sense of ego? Or this question isomething that can only be understood by experiencing non-duality states of consciouness? Not explainable through words? 30:00 Does this applies to the process of meditation too, when we redirect our attention from mental phenomenons, including discomfortable feelings, to the experience of breathing... Is this a form of repression, of "shadow-feeding"? If not, why? I've been struggling with this question about meditation for some time. Do you think that "growing up" should be "prioritized" first before waking up, considering what you said about how imporatnt our views towards the world is important in the process of how, supposedly, the mind filters waking up experiences, creating an ego?

20:21 Perhaps now I would rephrase 'consciously identifying with experience' as 'experiencing prior to a subject-object split with full knowledge of the workings of the mind which create that split'
30:00 Yes, meditation can quickly become suppression when we are doing it wrong. But as long as we remain with simple awareness, neither resisting nor chasing experience, there is no suppresion. This is why masters like Jiddu Krishnamurti reject the idea of discipline as reinforcing the very mind that keeps us suffering.
I feel Growing Up should be prioritized simply because of the horrible political situation worldwide. Also because we have many institutions/traditions of Waking Up, while the path of Growing Up hasn't been made public knowledge yet. We've known about Cleaning Up for over a century now and still it is largely dismissed. We've collectively got a lot of work ahead of us.
@@pedroba76 It appears to me enlightenment is not an occurrence within time and experience, but rather a recognition of what has always been the case. And yet this recognition then has an effect on experience. But how are form and the formless related? How do time and eternity interface? These questions are beyond me...
You mentioned that not many people have reached these states so appropriate words have not been conceived. With peace and love, I think it may be the more fundamental nature of language being inherently dualistic, and symbolic. Language is the proverbial finger pointing at the moon.

His method without a method certainly seems to contradict some points of the depth psychologists, yet their goal seems similar. really interesting, in moment scale we breath in and out, daily scale we sleep and wake up, life scale we transform from unconsciousness to consciousness than back to unconsciousness, history scale we build civilization by concentrate forces than destroy everything after that. There are a cycle over and over again, sometime we seeks the meaningful, purpose of life, sometime we back to auto-drive mode.
Love and compassion are natural to mankind. We must be taught the"art of war". The art of war has been "advanced and improved" for millenia. It is time to change our views and thus our approach to living. Live in peace with each other.
34:17 is the only mistake you made. Its not theory to do it solo. In fact, it's preferable to receiving assistance. Doing it solo, you sharpen your own perception through experience. Learning to distinguish important information, reactions and experiences, through your own time tested model. If it is no longer effective, you know exactly how to dismantle it and have an understanding of the underlying principles that governs its use to redesign and rebuild it again.
i think there are resolutions of life, each person is completely different with other one, each tree is too but in low resolution, we see them are in same categories. We are seekers are seeking meanings of everything but the meaning of something is how our low resolution work and wrap. Its a wrong question how we understand reality, its the process that we increase our resolution and becoming god.

Dear Seeker, thank you so much for your splendid work, it is at delight to listen to you. However, maybe I have not understood you correctly, but I don’t comprehend the concept of enlightened people who can be racists etc. In my understanding there are four formless states (in Buddhism infinite space, infinite consciousness, seeming nothing whatsoever, and beyond consciousness and unconsciousness) but those are not enlightenment. Real enlightenment cannot be separated from universal, unlimited empathy, which leads to universal unlimited love and compassion. This merging you mention with everything there is and “everyone” there is, in a non- dual way has to inevitably bring this along. Therefore, identification with any sort of being, without differentiation of race, sex, ideology , or even species, makes it impossible to project a state of mind that diminishes the value of any being as a racist could. An enlightened being though could. project seemingly sexist behavior or teaching, to adapt to the mental dispositions of the people at a certain moment in time, but those are relative teachings, which, as the Buddha has said have to be filtered, pounded and analyzed like the Goldsmith does with the gold and only take them in if we consider them fit under our own experience,
I suppose by enlightenment in this context you mean philosophers from the Age of Enlightenment of the 18th century and not spiritually enlightened people. But it could lead to some confusion. Just some doubts from an admirer 🙏🏼
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! What I meant was people advanced in Waking Up, but not in Growing Up. The much deeper enlightenment you describe would require both paths to be well cultivated, which allows for the deep experience of ultimate reality to merge with a deep experience of conventional reality.

The bird of enlightenment which can only fly with both the wing of wisdom of realizing the empty yet vibrant nature of reality (which you call waking if I got it right) and the wing of non-dual awareness of it and therefore, all-pervasive compassion and effortless method to liberate all beings (growing up). Absolute and relative awareness simultaneous and indivisible. Please continue your enlightening activity. We all need it. 🙏🏼

Positive and Absolute samadhi are experienced as Oneness of 'simply thus'...turiya. Beyond this state is 'All this' as the concurrency of 'things as they are' is sustained and substantiated by the profundity of Peace, of nothingness of which the Whole of Existence spontaneously flows.
Instead of an ethnocentric statement without any stated evidence or reasoning, consider the personal story of help given and maybe try to educate the group with why you feel that way.

It is this collective consciousness that gets passed from one generation to the next.

Personally what i found had the greatest impact on me when it comes to substances is dissociatives, which are more niche i guess.

Reminds me of the book 'The Cosmic Game' by Stanislav Grof where he talks about 'holotropic' (altered) states in various cultures; some use meditation, dance, chanting, or psychedelic plants. An altered state is synonymous with a spiritual experience and our everyday waking consciousness is more built for survival in the world rather than a transcendent state.

To become you're true self, is not to grow into it, nor to revert back to a past state that has gone, rather it is to realise that you have always been your true self, that there has never been anything that could be profound enough to have kept you from being your true self, for anything that keeps you from it, exists within it.
Enlightenment is but a gate through which you pass to see, that there was never a gate in the first place.
You are your true self, you have always been, and you will always be.

I am reading approaching the Path by his holiness, the Dalai Lama. He speaks about the stream of consciousness. Present moment consciousness is condition upon the previous moment. It gets really interesting when we think about rebirth. This stream of consciousness embeds itself in the biological body at the moment of conception. Where do you think the stream of consciousness comes from? We each have our own stream of consciousness conditioned upon our past karma and our present state of mind. So interesting. 🧐 I wonder if there’s a vast ocean of consciousness streaming through the material universe connecting with biological matter forming a cosmic karmic root system. We are the leaves. 🍃 🍁 🍂

I think I've been, these last periods in life, transitioning, or on a period of transtioning, to a more "worldcentric" views and approach towards society and people. Krishnamurti discourses and book, Buddhist view on sense of self, and even Thorfinn's "I have no enemies" views have helped me on this, but I think I was already like this before, just that identity politics drifted me to ehtnocentric more than I should.

20:21: What do you mean "consciously identifying with experience?" Isn't consciouness itself perception, and isn't it percpetion that creates the sense of ego? Or this question isomething that can only be understood by experiencing non-duality states of consciouness? Not explainable through words?
30:00 Does this applies to the process of meditation too, when we redirect our attention from mental phenomenons, including discomfortable feelings, to the experience of breathing... Is this a form of repression, of "shadow-feeding"? If not, why? I've been struggling with this question about meditation for some time.
Do you think that "growing up" should be "prioritized" first before waking up, considering what you said about how imporatnt our views towards the world is important in the process of how, supposedly, the mind filters waking up experiences, creating an ego?

30:00 Yes, meditation can quickly become suppression when we are doing it wrong. But as long as we remain with simple awareness, neither resisting nor chasing experience, there is no suppresion. This is why masters like Jiddu Krishnamurti reject the idea of discipline as reinforcing the very mind that keeps us suffering.
I feel Growing Up should be prioritized simply because of the horrible political situation worldwide. Also because we have many institutions/traditions of Waking Up, while the path of Growing Up hasn't been made public knowledge yet. We've known about Cleaning Up for over a century now and still it is largely dismissed. We've collectively got a lot of work ahead of us.
@@pedroba76 It appears to me enlightenment is not an occurrence within time and experience, but rather a recognition of what has always been the case. And yet this recognition then has an effect on experience. But how are form and the formless related? How do time and eternity interface? These questions are beyond me...
You mentioned that not many people have reached these states so appropriate words have not been conceived. With peace and love, I think it may be the more fundamental nature of language being inherently dualistic, and symbolic. Language is the proverbial finger pointing at the moon.
There is no “true self” the self is ever changing. That is the only truth

His method without a method certainly seems to contradict some points of the depth psychologists, yet their goal seems similar. Doing it solo, you sharpen your own perception through experience. Learning to distinguish important information, reactions and experiences, through your own time tested model. If it is no longer effective, you know exactly how to dismantle it and have an understanding of the underlying principles that governs its use to redesign and rebuild it again.
i think there are resolutions of life, each person is completely different with other one, each tree is too but in low resolution, we see them are in same categories. We are seekers are seeking meanings of everything but the meaning of something is how our low resolution work and wrap. Its a wrong question how we understand reality, its the process that we increase our resolution and becoming god.

Dear Seeker, thank you so much for your splendid work, it is at delight to listen to you. However, maybe I have not understood you correctly, but I don’t comprehend the concept of enlightened people who can be racists etc. In my understanding there are four formless states (in Buddhism infinite space, infinite consciousness, seeming nothing whatsoever, and beyond consciousness and unconsciousness) but those are not enlightenment. Real enlightenment cannot be separated from universal, unlimited empathy, which leads to universal unlimited love and compassion. This merging you mention with everything there is and “everyone” there is, in a non- dual way has to inevitably bring this along. Therefore, identification with any sort of being, without differentiation of race, sex, ideology , or even species, makes it impossible to project a state of mind that diminishes the value of any being as a racist could. An enlightened being though could. project seemingly sexist behavior or teaching, to adapt to the mental dispositions of the people at a certain moment in time, but those are relative teachings, which, as the Buddha has said have to be filtered, pounded and analyzed like the Goldsmith does with the gold and only take them in if we consider them fit under our own experience,
I suppose by enlightenment in this context you mean philosophers from the Age of Enlightenment of the 18th century and not spiritually enlightened people. But it could lead to some confusion. Just some doubts from an admirer 🙏🏼
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! What I meant was people advanced in Waking Up, but not in Growing Up. The much deeper enlightenment you describe would require both paths to be well cultivated, which allows for the deep experience of ultimate reality to merge with a deep experience of conventional reality.

The bird of enlightenment which can only fly with both the wing of wisdom of realizing the empty yet vibrant nature of reality (which you call waking if I got it right) and the wing of non-dual awareness of it and therefore, all-pervasive compassion and effortless method to liberate all beings (growing up). Absolute and relative awareness simultaneous and indivisible.
