Hi, Dave. Just watched this yet again and noticed at the final comparison, the background has lost an awful lot of detail. Is there a reason for this? Regards, Bob U.K.
It hasn't lost any detail Robert. Don't forget that I am really zoomed in very tight. To test your theory I did a comparison, where I cropped the original RAW image in Lightroom and compared it to the GigaPixel Ai crop and the background detail was identical on both versions. Thanks for the observation and for keeping me on my toes.
I suspect Gigapixel would have done a perfectly good job of removing the noise, sharpening the image and upscaling it all at the same time. The algorithms used in Gigapixel are very impressive. Thanks for the video, Dave. 👍
Dave, I had a question. When I hit APPLY and send the photo back to LR, I have to Synchronize the folder in LR before my upsized image appears (it is the same with Denoise and Sharpen as well). It didn't appear you had to do that. Is there a setting in LR that I should change to cause the image to immediately appear in the folder?
Great video, Dave. I appreciate your going through all 3 of these Topaz plugins. Thanks for doing the masking, as well. I've been curious how best to do that with Edge-aware and Find Objects. Do you ever adjust Radius, Threshold, and Opacity? Also, any naming suggestions on the TIFFs in LrC?
I Dave. Learning a lot from your tutorials. I have a question about your work flow. I see you use Denoise first before anything else. I thought one introduces noise as we edit the photo. I am thinking noise in the shadows as you recover them. Perhaps some noise after sharpening and other manipulations. So I am curious about you rational behind that decision. Thansk
Hi Dave, Can you help please? I use my camera's linear profile in Lr before I start my edit. When I use Topaz DeNoise, I get it back into Lr where I am able to continue my editing process as normal. However, when I use Topaz Sharpen on my image, I am unable to use the profile. Is there a way round this? By the way, I always drag and drop my images into Topaz. Thank you & keep 'em coming!
Linear profiles will only show when you are using a RAW File in LR. They will be missing after you send them back to LR from Topaz products even if they are DNG Raw Files. If you convert your RAW File to a DNG File using LR the Linear Profile will be available but for some reason they will not be when using Topaz products. If you want to use the Linear Profile on images you will need to do your basic editing first in LR before doing any Sharpening, Noise Reduction or upsizing with Topaz products.
Thanks a lot for this video an your hints. All your tips help and helped me a lot to rescue photos. I could e.g. rescue a big amount of animal photos I took in 2009 when I visited Brazil and the Pananal NP. Even I was able to create a Video Slide Show of it and now I'm able to enjoy it and the animal photos I took. Big thanks again.

Reviewing your workflow is extremely helpful. You are a master at creating tutorials. Thanks.
I missed the mask tool and had weird stuff in the grass, thanks for this!!

@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks for looking, Dave. All is well!
Thanks Dave, appreciate the real world edits!! 😉
Is JPG to Raw still a part of Gigapixel AI or has it been discontinued??
I don't think they are still updating it.
I suspect Gigapixel would have done a perfectly good job of removing the noise, sharpening the image and upscaling it all at the same time.

Thanks for this comment Tom. I will have to give that a try. I haven't done that yet.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly I have also done as Tom has suggested and it does give great results while saving time.

excellent, as always
I like your workflow I think I will give it a try. I had been upscaling in gigapixil first then going to Denoise and sharpen.
Nice. One can have a quite similar workflow if using ON1 instead of Lightroom so useful on a multi-app scale.
Brilliant tutorial again. Thank you for your excellent videos. I went straight onto my PC and followed your instruction to the end
Superb!! Great precise instructions. Easy to follow.
Great, great presentation, Dave. Thank you,
Another excellent tutorial .Thanks.

It is best to reduce noise at the beginning of your RAW workflow.
