Topaz Photo AI vs. Topaz DeNoise/Sharpen/Gigapixel - Which One Should You Buy?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 авг 2024
- Before you purchase Topaz Photo AI, you'll want to watch this video! I've been using the Topaz software for a while now, and I thought that Topaz Photo AI was the absolute best software for noise reduction, resizing, and sharpening. After running into a few issues, I went back to some of the older software, and found that I had much better results.
In this video, I share my findings, and recommend which software you should buy depending on the kind of photographer or photo editor you are.
To purchase software, use these links:
Topaz Photo AI: www.topazlabs.com/topaz-photo...
Topaz Image Quality Bundle (all three apps): www.topazlabs.com/image-quali...
Topaz DeNoise AI: www.topazlabs.com/denoise-ai/...
Topaz Gigapixel AI: www.topazlabs.com/gigapixel-a...
Topaz Sharpen AI: www.topazlabs.com/sharpen-ai/...

Thanks, I guess!
Excellent video. This perfectly addressed my question about Gigapixel AI vs Photo AI, for sizing for prints.
I clicked on your link below but didnt see any discount applied for Gigapixel. Is that discount no longer available?
Yeah, discount is no longer available, sorry about that! Glad the video helped.
I have Denoise and Sharpen and want to find out of buying Photo AI was a good choice, now I know that I don't have to buy it :-) I even got the update to Denoise 3.7 for free from Topaz just today, great service! ( I owned 3.3.4). Thanks for the video!
Glad I could help!
thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much! Dry informative!
You are so welcome!
Excellent video! Answered something I couldn't really find anywhere else!
Glad I could help!
Very helpful video Austin. Especially the tip - I don't know why I didn't think of it myself - of using the four comparison windows setup, after choosing the best initial auto results for the various models, and then adjusting the other three set also to that model manually.
I have been using the Image Suite from Topaz for about a year or more now and love it and would not want to have to live without them.
As you stated, I also find that I am able to get more precise and finer, higher quality results using the three independently.
I must say that initially, I was not particularly impressed by photo AI but it is improving. I haven't noticed it causing any color shifting as somebody here commented either. I just tend to find that if I really, really want an image to be perfect, I have to use the other three individually.
Personally, if Topaz deep sixed the Image Suite, at least at this point with the limited flexibility that photo AI gives us in terms of being able to manually adjust things as we do in the standalone Image Suite, I would be very upset.
Perhaps, if ultimately they are able to actually truly combine the same features maybe on an advanced setting within photo AI for those who want to use them that we now enjoy with denoise, sharpen and gigapixel?
Leaving, as a choice, the simple interface being the opening screen or the one that you can choose to default to, that might be the way I would think it should go. Incorporating a professional level interface that allows you to access all their controls we currently have in the three separate programs. Now, THAT would be dynamite!
But, as it stands right now I don't default to, go to photo AI because I just know that it's fine for most things if I'm not really terribly quality conscious about something nor have grand aspirations for it but, I really wouldn't trust it for serious work.
Here's a tip that you and your viewers may find useful. I got the idea - well actually I had already done this - from Dave Kelly at The Joy of Editing where he says that sometimes, if you run an image through the De noise twice it will markedly improve it over what it did the first time.
I have found this be absolutely true. I've also found that by running an image I've already run through variously with the other programs in the suite a second time through them? They too can result in an even better result. Assuming you don't add artifacts in the process.
Long story short Topaz, in my opinion, is the bomb as far as I'm concerned when it comes to this kind of image processing software.
And, I have subscribed to your network now and I look forward to more of your videos.
You're one of the four people now that I have subscribed to re Photoshop;the other three being Anthony Morganti, Unmesh Dida of PixImperfect and Dave Kelly.
They're the tops, the cream of the crop as far as I'm concerned but now, I've got another person to turn to - you!
Keep up the good work. Because, we inquiring minds want to know!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I will definitely have to try running a photo through the software twice to see how that works. Thanks for subscribing and I look forward to bringing you more videos!!
Your work is great. I purchased the three Sharpen-DeNoise-Gigapixel bundle. However, I am confused as to what is the best way to process one photography in each option? Do you have a video on this? On Topaz AI it looks like you ca all three things in one app, but not with the older bundle.
You can use the other three in any order as you see fit!
Hey there. I'm looking at Topaz and just viewed your video - very nice and a great help. One thing I havent' see or heard anywhere, can you apply / overlay multiple Topaz products? Can you first Denice, then sharpen and then use Gigapixel once you want to print? Have I just failed to register this if someone has said? Thank you for your help!
Yes, you can do all three back to back to back!
Thanks! I'm getting the black friday bundle that contains all the 3 + photo ai for $200.
was wondering if I should get this or the photo ai + video ai for $240.
Thanks for the video!
At this point, they’ve been making a lot of updates to Photo AI so I might go for the Video AI and Photo AI bundle: www.topazlabs.com/black-friday/ref/1179/#deals
I've been testing Sharpen AI and Photo AI on my personal photos. For me both work great, but Photo AI has a HUGE problem: it also changes the colors of my pictures, and I hate that. I get that is a "quick and easy" way for casual users to skip the use of some editing software. But I imagine that would be a deal breaker for real Pro Photographers. 😢
Absolutely! I’ve never seen it change the color of my photos but I definitely think the individual apps work better. Thanks for sharing!
Same as AJJ. I have been using Photo Ai for a while now, and I don't see any colour shifts. FYI I have been one of the Adobe Community Experts since 2009, and I use an Asus ProArt monitor, so I am wondering if you have an issue with your workflow? I am trying to think how that might happen, and nothing is coming to mind. Do you use it stand alone, or from within Photoshop?
I'm with you. Prefer the older products.
As of late, the newer stuff has been getting better!
I am new to all of this.
I have dxo pure raw 3 and I think it works great.
My question is do I need these? If I purchase one, which one should it be?
And if I purchased the bundle, which software do you run the photo through first?
Thank you!
Hey Shane! At this point, I’d recommend getting Topaz Photo AI, which I like a little better than having to use all three others. Both the noise reduction and sharpening is pretty incredible.
Yes very helpful.
Glad to hear that!
subbed thank you
Thanks for checking it out!
Hey, I make textile print designs using existing images from my hand- painted artworks put together. All paintings images are taken from my iPhone but vary in sharpness and size. looking for a software that could help me with sharpening parts of the completed designs (or the full designs) to be hi-res and print-ready for scaves etc. Which software do you recommend?
Photo AI is going to be the best bet, and should work well for you!
If you get the three individual Programs, do you have to Denoise, save then open it in gigapixel, then move on to the next? Or is there an easy way to do all 3 if you own all three programs?
No, you sadly have to open it separately in all three apps.
I still own the 2020 version of the old once. Been kind out out of processing so im a bit behind. Wonder if its even needed to upgrade.
The newer versions definitely do a little better, I think as of right now Photo AI is going to get you the best results especially on DeNoising.
I agree the discrete products are superior in almost every way to Photo AI. I also think that the comparison view in Denoise AI is crucial to my workflow. I have almost no use for Gigapixel, and I am almost always disappointed in the sharpening created by either of the Topaz tools. The sharpening is almost always unnatural looking to my eyes. But, Denoise AI is a game changer that I wouldn't want to do without.
PhotoAI has made a lot of improvements lately that are definitely worth checking out!
@@AustinJamesJackson I routinely install the latest versions ... 1.5.4 currently. I still prefer Denoise AI in almost every circumstance.
Topaz are offering Black Friday discounts but my Photo AI is good until next August but the other 3 in the bundle expired in May but I do have the last updated versions ( I had then long before PhotoAI came out). However all that I have read suggest that the latter are n longer getting software upgrades with all the effort going into Photo AI. Also I have seen suggestions that Lightroom's denoise is pretty good but need to try it as I usually go straight to Photo AI
They are certainly putting more effort into updating Photo AI but I still find that I’m using the bundle apps from time to time, so I think it’s worth renewing them personally!
@@AustinJamesJackson thanks - I do have full use of Denoise Latest and owned (v3.7.2) and Sharpen Latest and owned (v4.1.0) but my upgrade plans ran out in June. The real question is it worth paying for the next 12mth upgrade plan if there are unlikely to be more upgrades
@@AustinJamesJackson a reply just received from Topaz:
we are in the process of phasing out DeNoise A and Sharpen AI and you already own the latest versions we have released.
We are not actively developing updates for those apps hence why we are not offering an update plan to cover them. We are moving to focus on Topaz Photo AI going forward as it incorporates all the features of DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI along with some new beta features (color balance, lighting adjustment and an eraser tool).
Does it work for any computer pc. like do you need a certain gpu or something for it to work.
Yes, I think they have that info on their website!
Thanks, I've been hoping someone would cover this (as I haven't had time to do my own comparison). I had purchased the Topaz "IQ Bundle" so they offered me Photo AI for free. If that's till the deal (it's not clear on the site, as it's the same price for either option), it looks like that would be the way to go, so you still have the option to use all of the "apps" individually or as a set in Photo AI. As an aside, I still prefer DxO DeepPRIME XD for NR over DeNoise for many images, but it only works on RAW (as do I normally) and I have some old JPGs, on which DeNoise/Photo AI work beautifully. I have noticed some artifacts and other aberrations when using Photo AI on certain images, so thanks for reminding me that there are cases where I'm better off using the individual programs. I hope that at some point they incorporate all of the "individual" features into Photo AI, but we're obviously not there yet (as it seems to be in a long-term "beta" mode). Also, I wonder if "lens blur" refers to camera shake. In either case, I suspect that the AI is "looking for" streaks/trails and "compressing" them to provide "after the fact" IS.
Definitely agree with what you’ve said! I’ve found that using the original softwares usually will fix any issues that are being caused by Photo AI.
Just bought the Topaz IQ bundle and did get Photo AI for free! I'm a happy boy. Thanks for the tip.
@@FooteNotes Glad it was helpful. I don't need Topaz on most of my shots but for some it's essential. Also, there may be advantages to using the individual programs but Photo AI is very convenient and they're constantly improving it.
I just bought the image quality bundle and at first thought the deal was over as it didn't mention getting photo ai in the checkout process or the final order page. But you only get offered photo ai for free once you log into your account. you can then claim photo ai for free whilst owning the image quality bundle.
many thanks for this recommendation ddsdss
I want to eventually make print reproductions of my art . Is this app useful for that?
Yes it is! Photo AI would work well for you to upscale.
Great review. Just bought the 3 pack. So if I wanted to denoise an image, then sharpen it, do I have to work the photos in denoise then export it, bring it into sharpen and export again from there?
Yes! If you’re using Photoshop, make the layer a smart object, and then do one, save it, and then do the other!
Just watched this and have to agree, I think Topaz Photo is just not a finished application I have had it since the day they offered it free and every week they bring out updates so that has got to be a year approximately Biggest problem now for people like us who prefer the original software is the lack of any enhancements to them as all there efforts are or seem to be going into Topaz Photo.
Definitely! They recently updated the noise models and the DeNoising is actually really great now.
Thank you this is really perfect info. 🎉
Thanks for watching!
@@AustinJamesJackson ended up getting the bundle and I guess Photo AI was in my cart at no extra cost. Compared them and really do like results from bundle however for some things a Photo AI does do a great job. Overall I love the products. Thanks again!
couldn't find a bundle, maybe it's not available any more
Sadly, they discontinued the bundle a while back. Super bummed about it.
so would you choose the bundle of 3, or just photo ai? price aside.
For people that want the absolute best, I’d go with the bundle of 3!
@@AustinJamesJackson yeah I have all 3 and the photo ai, but it's kinda annoying having to save the image then go to the next app
This video is 6 months old. Topaz has had a dozen release updates since then. Has it addressed these issues, and gotten better?
I think Photo AI has improved a lot and I would recommend picking that one up now! The most recent major update was covered in this video: ruclips.net/video/2ZCJVhFpDug/видео.html
I clicked on the link to buy the individual programs and it didn’t seem to have any discount. It was the same price as when I was looking at them before seeing this video.
The deal expired a little while back unfortunately.
Where is the discount code your mentioned?
It has expired, sorry.
Came here wondering whether I should upgrade my Photo AI v.1.1.9 to the v.2.0. This video did not help me make that $99 decision but, as I still own the 3 separate apps as well, It did give me pause.
I have been lazy and fell to the seduction of "one app to rule them all."
Truth is, it's been months since I used anything Topaz other than Photo AI despite having Denoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel on my editing machine. It's just too easy to use AI instead. Thanks for pointing out that, while it might be "easiest," it's not necessarily "best."
Absolutely! Thanks for watching.
Just wanted to note: if you already own the Image Quality Bundle, then Photo AI is heavily discounted (at least for me, after logging into my account, I was able to purchase it for ~$40). This is pure speculation, but it's likely Topaz Labs will eventually retire DeNoise, Gigapixel, and Sharpen, in favor of putting all functionality into Photo AI as a single app. Photo AI isn't there yet, as Austin has pointed out, but it seems to be an inevitability (building and releasing a single app is easier than doing the same for 3). The heavy discount for owners of the Image Quality Bundle could be an attempt to get everyone migrated over.
Oh, and in fact, they state in their FAQ: "Eventually, Topaz Photo AI will have all the features needed to fully take over the function of DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. At that point, it may fully replace these applications."
Yes, I think that is the path they are headed in! Thanks for the info.
cannot locate the bundle in Topaz Labs
Try this link: www.topazlabs.com/image-quality-bundle/ref/1179/
Where is the link for the discount?
The discount is no longer active unfortunately, but you can still find the products at the link in the description.
no more bundle?
Sadly they stopped selling it.
Photo AI is Right for me because I want to be more linear with my workflow and not have to process one image in 7 external Plugs.
That’s a great reason to use Photo AI!
I have been using the Topaz software for quite a while.
I have the full suite. I definitely prefer to use the separate specialist packages: denoise, sharpen, gigapixel,…
Photo AI is a little too basic in what it provides for those operations.
Sometimes I use Topaz Studio 2 instead. It is good for global adjustments.
One thing that annoyed me: in a recent update, the object removal tool seems to have disappeared.
For that, I now use the Movavi Photo Editor, which looks like an earlier release of Topaz.
Movavi is worth looking at as a competitor to Topaz.
Good to know! Thanks for the info, I’ll have to check it out!
I can't really disagree with everything you say here, but so much time is needed to do all this . Maybe improving one image can be worth it, but using it in a workflow situation . . . . . .
Certainly! I don’t ever edit more than one photo at a time as a landscape photographer, and I spend a couple hours in each image, but I can see how this would be frustrating if you were someone who needed to batch edit!
I think they don't have the bundle as an option anymore.
Yeah, they recently took it away unfortunately.
Unfortunately, I came across this video AFTER purchasing Photo AI. Then, one of the (many) updates took away the motion blur correction option. Fortunately, I'm still in the trial period so I'll get a refund and try DeNoise & Sharpen. Thanks for doing the leg work.
Of course! Thanks for watching.
I have a lot of scanned dia positives which had been scanned to tiff files. Many of them contain al lot of noise.
Is it possible to use Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen with good results on tiff files or are the tools working on raw file only ?
Yes! It works great with tiff, and that is usually how I use it!
Hey thanks for the info. I'd like to purchase the bundle but I'm not able to find your discount code?
Hey Noah! The discount code is no longer active unfortunately, but you can find the links to buy in the description!
That’s what I was thinking, I appreciate your reply
@Austin James Jackson ah that explains why I can see a discount either.
I hate that PhotoAI does not return the image to Lightroom automatically like the other three programs do. I find I have to return to the original folder and sync it again. Am I missing something or is this common?
Hmmm. I think you must be missing something because it returns for me. Maybe you could email support? I’m not sure about all the nuts and bolts of how it gets sent back, but I know mine goes back into Lightroom. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Didn’t the new update bring back the 3 original options now aval in the newer product ?
I think you’ve always been able to purchase the three instead of Photo AI!
Topaz is no longer offering the bundle. You can still get Gigapixel but the other two have been discontinued.
Yeah, unfortunately.
Your assessment of Photo AI mirrors my experience with it too.
They have improved it greatly but it's still not able to deliver results as fine as one can attain following your delineation of and use of the various types of fine tuning options contained in the three separate programs.
Undoubtedly, it will continue to improve but, as we all know, rarely does a one size fits all, automated - not needing real thought - solution ever truly equal what can be attained by individualized, precise adjustments that result and are needed for the highest quality results.
I do use it but rarely on images I want "picture perfect", which is why you inserted the part about being picky.
Bottom line is. Mostly I trust it but not completely.
Totally agree with this!!
You videos keep popping up as I try to make a better deepfake.
I am making deepfakes for a hobby, Topaz seems like the best software to use to improve photo quality and runs from PC instead of cloud. Tried a bunch of github software and adobe express, but none seemed to work well. I am using videos and pulling faces from the video. This causes many of the photos to have motion blur. My main goal is just deblur these images that come from a video, but upscaling would be nice also.
What version of Topaz would you think is best for this usage? They sell so many products. A video product of a photo one?
Also what is the difference in noise and motion blur. I know nothing about photography. I think motion blur is a type of noise but not all noise is motion blur. I make video games normally and supper into machine learning programs.
For your usage, I think that Photo AI would be your best bet. While Gigapixel + Sharpen + DeNoise would work slightly better, it's a lot of trouble to have to go through when you could use Photo AI, which works great and is much simpler. If you go with the "Image Quality Bundle" (DeNoise, Sharpen, Gigapixel), you'd have to use Gigapixel to upsize the image, sharpen to fix any motion blur, and then denoise if you wanted to remove noise. Much easier to use Photo AI and have all features in one place.
Motion blur is blur that occurs when a subject is moving, or your shutter speed is too slow for the speed of the subject. Noise occurs when something is too dark, usually when photographers turn up the ISO on their camera to increase the sensitivity to light, you'll see noise, which adds grain to the image. This is generally not wanted.

Hope this helps!
Photo AI is the on;y program getting updated lately
Yes it is!
I have both the bundle and Photo AI. Though Photo AI works fine, it is extremely slow on my 3 year old MacBook Pro. I can process a photo in Denoise AI, reopen the image in Sharpen AI and complete sharpening in significantly less time than it takes to use the same features in Photo AI. I have tested this with multiple raw files from my OM Systems OM-1 with consistent results. This significant time savings, plus the more control with the individual apps makes Photo AI much less valuable to me. I am surprised that others haven’t noticed this processing time difference, or haven’t commented about it.
Interesting. Weird that it runs so slow. My iMac is 8 years old and it runs fine, and my MacBook Pro is 5 years old and it runs fine also. If your memory is almost full, that could be causing a slowdown, or if you don’t have a lot of RAM.
Just download them all
Sweet!
with render (not photo) Topaz Gigapixel AI works not correct (
I’m not sure what you mean?
Thank you for clearing things up. I'm buying the bundle pack instead of the photo AI.
Awesome!! I think you’ll love it!
My experience is Photo AI over cooks the image.
Sometimes you may need to adjust the settings yourself to tone it down!
They don't sell Sharpen AI and DeNoise AI anymore... you have to buy Photo AI
Yeah, unfortunately that’s what they are doing now.
Their webpage is terrible at explaining their product options.
Their help chat told me PhotoAI was the 3 applications bundled together...and after purchasing...they definitely are not. All you get is a couple sliders, and they absolutely butcher every photo I've tried it on.
With Photo AI I can't even get close to the quality of picture that I previously got using only Denoise separately.
Yeah, I think they are working on improving Photo AI but I definitely like the three programs better right now.
@@AustinJamesJackson Luckily, when you complain they just add them all to your account...which is how it should have been for several hundred dollars.
I have both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop 2023 and Topaz Labs is so much better and faster it ain't funny!
That’s great to hear!
Wish I had watched this before I bought AI.😢
You can see if they’ll give you a refund to buy the others!
Stop throwing guys at me every 5 sec
Huh?
@@AustinJamesJackson just trying counting the number of times you say 'Guys'
Dont see a discount code ... anywhere even when I follow your links price stays the same as anywhere else, 79.99!!!!

I haven't bought any apps so far, I just cracked the apps. 💪🏻
Cool!
