I am building up the courage to send mine out for a clone conversion, getting rid of the scope mounts, modifying the receiver to take a clipped and pinned trigger housing, and doing a paddle mag release conversion (I've already swapped out the furniture, like you have). Should be pretty unique when it's finished, in the US anyway.
Will that devalue the gun?
@@markp4401Probably! That's why I'll need a few drinks before mailing it off to the gunsmith.
Wouldn’t do that friend. Better to build one off nice CETME parts. Keep the value of the pre ban untouched for whenever you need the money / pass it down to your kids
These sporters are actually pretty cool, I agree with the other guy just build up a parts kit and then have 2 of 'em. Worst case you could probably sell the sporter and use the funds to finance the build if you don't care for having multiple.
🤦🏻♂️ Don't do it
maaan...... 🙋🏻♂️🇦🇷
Great for hunting super mutants in the Capital Wasteland.
Damn tooten...
Heh. The bayonet made me instantly think of that weird Mauser they fitted with CETME barrels, FRG-1 or something.
Yep, the FR7 & FR8 (M93 & M43 conversions respectively). We've covered them in the past. Could revisit again sometime though.
Pro tip: the HK G3 officially should not exist. In the agreement between CETME, HyK and the West German Goverment the rifle was called CETME-G3 and that name was supposed to be stamped in the german rifles. The Germans did not add the CETME name, and choosed to pay CETME to reach an agreement. BTW, i suppose that maybe it was not an accident but intentional to make it easier for HyK to export the G3 (since back then CETME was an stated owned company and Spain was a dictatorship).
Remember originally that H&K didn't ahve full rights to the G3 either. I love the look of the original couple G3 variants. Also the first generation of MP5.
Actually the Egyptian Maddi AKM-47 is the rarest preban import, with 1900 fixed stock, and 100 side folders being imported by Steyr in 1985... The serials go from S00001 to S02000... They are an exact copy of a Soviet AKM but in semi.
I will say to my finger, even with military trigger groups converted to semi, CETME triggers are a definitely noticeably crisper if not even a bit lighter than HK groups, if i had to guess as to why id say its the CETME trigger pack having a more conventional spring and hammer lay out as opposed to the HK using that strange coiled compression spring set up
You can so still see the StG 44 there!!!💚
Unlike on PSA's website hehe
I was fortunate to get a good Century C308 in a trade, but as with all fixed stock G3’s, the length of pull is too damn long. Since I can’t afford the $500ish for a Spuhr stock, I took the advice from Håkan were initially he chopped off several inches off the buttstock. I then gorilla taped the buttpad to the top of the comb as a cheek piece and it makes the rifle so much more handy, even if my C308 comes in at 11 lbs as configured.
Misha, could you cover the Norinco MAK 90 Sporter and shoot it too? Maybe talk current values?
Sorry, i don't have a MAK90 in the store ATM and don't own one personally. My earlier videos on it are still valid for the history. As for the current worth? That's really not something I do much as it automatically dates a video.
@@misha5670 understood sir. Thanks 👍🏻
Good video. Seen only one of those puppies! Them are spensive !
Absolutely a treasure brother
I have a C308 it's nice but not a MARS lol. Mine has a Timney Trigger, PSG1 wood grip, CETME wood, Barrel Clamp Bipod,Bayonet, leather sling, I truly love it.
Great video, I'm jelly a bit but always fun to watch
Might want to check the buffer assembly, I have a MARS CETME and the buffers are like a pressed fiber thing, and mine was dry rotted. They don't use the G3 style buffers.
Thanks, and yes i replace dit about 3 years ago, and no definitely not same as an HK G3/HK91.
What a cool rifle.
very nice
Awesome rifle
You got the best collection on RUclips bud! Also were the guy who got me into Swiss rifles ha ha. Still waiting on the Sig 551 long barrel through JDI. 4 months common from the Swiss?
Talked with Dave today; wait should be over very soon (think in a couple weeks or less) barring any gov't wankiness of course.
Chris Bartocci was impressed by the PTR. What do you guys think?
Pretty cool Rifle!
Really Cool Rifle Misha 😊😀😮
cheers
I ♥Roller Delayed
They look good on a distplay .wall . J . g .
I had _no_ idea these were imported into the US. I knew a few CETME-Ls got into the US in the 70s and 80s, but this is interesting!
Actually, no semi-auto, civilian legal CETME-Ls got in. That gun didn't even go into full production until 1987, and NFA guns were banned from import back in 1968 thanks to the GCA anyhow. Those select-fire Ls you see online are all post-samples and not transferable as a pre-May registered MG sadly.
I'll take it and a case of bars too.
Modelo time foo
No bud light in this home either 👊
I always thought there bayonets were cool I have a few different versions there heavy duty built to last
Agreed, esp the one for the Mod.L.
Ah yes fallout's mutant slayer
If you had to choose a modern production to buy today, what roller delayed 7.62 NATO rifle would you buy?
Hmm not really sure there are many options here in 2024?
The new Century CA3. They bought all of Portugals surplus rifles and had PTR convert them. They are just under 1k.
Too bad roller delay rifles nowadays are over $1400.
Anyone on here know what ammo the cetme prefers most? I've heard lighter grain stuff is most accurate but I'm not sure exactly.
I’ve never had any issues with any ammo in mine. Mostly run brass though.
@@foxf6 Me either
Thanks, got a few different boxes to try and see how it groups on paper.
@@jspec-vz3mc The earlier Mod B (aka M958) did refer lighter stuff like the original 762 CETME round, but the Mod.C (aka M964) was built for 762 NATO. So any kind of NATO spec stuff in the 150 gr range should run fine...best guess of course.
@@misha5670 you're the man Misha thanks 👍
Valmets
Yep Valmets....very fun, cool and now very expensive sadly.
@@misha5670 Have you checked out the M62s on GB? Gag me.
