Chuck Mangione was born in Rochester, New York on November 29, 1940, so he is celebrating his 81st birthday today November 29, 2021. He is an American flugelhorn player, voice actor, trumpeter and composer. He came to prominence as a member of Art Blakey's band in the 1960s. He achieved international success in 1977 with his jazz-pop single "Feels So Good". Mangione has released more than 30 albums since 1960
Love the Dizzy lick he put in that flugel solo! Johnny sounds his usual greatness. Good stuff to hear. Johnny is still at it in his senior years and still sounds great!
HA!!!! I thought the same thing! Dizzy lick!!! And makes perfect sense, given Chuck's history with Diz...I saw him in 1980 in Long Island and they ended with Main Squeeze, and Diz was there and got up on stage, blew some and then did a tarantella with Chuck while the band vamped...magical.
Para os que adoram criticar o que realmente torna bonito o canto do Johnny é o seu vibrato. Faz bem aos ouvidos. E lindo. Aliás a única voz no mundo que a gente jamais se enjoa de ouvir. Parabéns Johnny.
lol...I never thought I'd say something remotely close to what I'm about to point out-- and disclaimer: NO I'm not drinking-- but, @1:55, doesn't Johnny and that relatively stiff posture he's assuming, sort of resemble Trump simply moving along with the beat, the best he could? lol.. I LOVE you, Johnny-- and you're one of my musical inspirations, but move around some! That said, in all honesty, it started off fine (and Mathis' voice IS suited for this composition) , this particular rendition didn't work for me-- though I'm certainly appreciative that it was posted. Very appreciative! But, that marriage with Chuck and Esther Satterfield was pure magic. Thanks so much, leatherlips.
What a great combination Chuck Mangione and Johnny Mathis I like this better than the Esther Satterfield version which is not to say that I don t like Esther Satterfield
Johnny is a great singer, but not for this song. No one could touch the voice of Esther Satterfield as she made this song hers with her heavenly voice.
Unlistenable! Esther Satterfield and Chuck Mangione, all the way. This isn't a damn Lounge Song, Mr. Mathis! It's a passionate plea by young people for a better world.
Love Johnny Mathis and his rendition, but Esther Satterfield knocked it out of the park. This song is hers.
Fully agree....monte
Yeppers
Mr. Mathis' wide vibrato is distracting ...

Since I was a teenager, Master Mangione music is in my heart and my soul.
Love this song... Simply genius .. Also The one with Esther Satterfield ...
I've heard this song before but not with Johnny singing along. I LOVED it. Do more like this. Gina M. Los Angeles
This is just awesome! No words can describe this!
What a wonderful and perfect pairing.❤❤
Johnny kills it every time no matter the song.
Second greatest version ever. And not an under achievement. Classic Mathis voice.
He is the best of the world and Chuck too. Quality music.
Like, amaaaaazing!!!! one of the best songs of my lifetime & Johnny Mathis is incredible

Nice solo by Chuck.
love that song🤩
Well, he ain't no Esther Satterfield...but does a superb job. The song's written so well that the song itself carries any who cover it through!!!
Esther Satterfield, sings from her heart. Johnny Mathis is good, but he is just performing.
I like it even better sung by Johnny Mathis Matthew Hamersly No doubt Esther Satterfield is great
@@robertmoir5695 You can have your opinion. I think you are stark-raving nuts.
This was great
Salutes forever!
Love it !!!!!!!
Great stuff. Thanks.
Wow. I never knew that they performed together. Awesome!
Great song Johnny Mathis and Chuck Mangione Mary

WHAT IS THIS ???? NO GO ! WHAT SINGs THE MAN ????
Esther Satterfield Did it The best
Awesome. To bad about the quality of the video.
Johnny is a great singer, but not for this song. No one could touch the voice of Esther Satterfield as she made this song hers with her heavenly voice.
As great and legendary a singer as Johnny was he was not meant to sing this particular song
in my opinion. lol
Sorry but his voice is….
Unlistenable! Esther Satterfield and Chuck Mangione, all the way. This isn't a damn Lounge Song, Mr. Mathis! It's a passionate plea by young people for a better world.
JMs vibrato…just does not work with this groove..it’s no a pitch bend it’s a tremolo and it’s just not on sync
Too much vibrado for this song.
...and vibrato, too.
Like a sheep
For some reason I think Tom Jones would have done better lol.
Hm. This vibrato is not ... well, anyway, his voice is so beautiful, too bad it is marred by this over the top, clumsy vibrato
Not grite Nat King Cole.
Johnnys voice is just not right for this song sorry Johnny…..can’t carry a note here smoothly annoying
the worst vibrato of any singer that ever lived
I could actually envision an A.C. current sine wave listening to him sing the last bars.
@@rodrickdubose659 THAT'S CALLED STYLE AND IT'S HIS OWN. Must not be too bad-he's made millions with that style.
A little too much vibrato, true. This song needs very little.
