- I'd love for you to join with me as I spend the day reorganizing my yarn closet. I start off strong but quickly find myself overwhelmed. But I am able to declutter some yarn and prioritize using other yarns.

Do you ever get overwhelmed when organizing?
Every time. I feel like I'm the center of a tornado in the middle of the process
Yep, I think tornado is the PERFECT description of how it looked for me! I’m sorry you go through it too but I am a little relieved I’m not alone feeling that way! And there is definitely happiness when it’s finally done 😃
@ShannonTalksYarn once it hits EF5 there's only going in a positive direction lol Once the skies are blue, the sense of accomplishment is that much greater. Thank you for sharing 💙
💯
I'm glad you let us watch. My son helped me organize my yarn in way ive never had it. It's my happiest place on earth 😉
That’s so awesome Michelle!!! I love being in my yarn room too! I’m glad yours is working out so well for you 😃
Girl. You are a champion. Way to take one for the team and be vulnerable! You have such a generous heart, and I love seeing how you connect with others, reaching through the screen to give them permission to be real, too. And congrats on 3K! AND I'm excited to see what you do with that gorgeous Drops yarn! Big hugs, my friend! 💞💕
Thank you so much Mary! I appreciate your kind thoughtful words of encouragement ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve started working on my project for the collab! I’ve all ready changed the pattern but the yarn is still working 😃
We must be on the same wavelength. I have frogged my chosen yarn sooo many times, but I think we're finally getting somewhere 😂
@slowcrochet lol 😂 it happens sometimes!!!
None of us look stunning while we are cleaning. Don't worry about that. That headband is cute - keep it. I like how you clearly identified the types and colors of yarn that speak to you. I could see right off that you are a neutrals person. I will have to keep this in mind when I finally go through all my yarn. This has been very instructive and inspirational.
Hi Marie!!! Thank you for your kind and supportive comment, I really appreciate that! I felt like a wreck lol! But feeling much better about both the yarn room and myself now! Yep, I’m much more neutrals than brights but along the way I’ve picked up bargains that I found myself never using. I’m glad I could pass them on to a few girls who love them. Thank you for watching ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Shannon!! I'm glad this ended positively for you! I felt bad for you when you were so overwhelmed. You absolutely did the right thing by taking a break and letting that anxiety abate. You were able to go back at it with a better perspective! It looks great to me and I agree that there is some stuff you have to let go. It is yours to do what you wish and if that means some gets thrown out then so be it! I use my scraps for amigurumi but if I didn't I would toss them! Have a fantastic weekend see you soon!!
Hello Pam! Thank you for the support!!! I was starting to loose it for a bit lol. If I would have pushed on, I probably would have lost it. Im kinda prone to meltdowns anyway! But so thankful it’s done and feeling so good about it now!!! I hope your weekend is fantastic too! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome progress! I love your headband.😊😊😊
Thank you so much Christine! I am one of those people who gets totally distracted by all the stuff I find when cleaning! 😂😂😂
Great job. I loved your video. Halfway through, I wanted to give you a hug. You did it. I love that you are sharing nice yarns with the new crocheters. They will enjoy the bright colors. ❤
Oh my gosh Denise, I could have used the hug!!! You hit the nail on the head! But I’m feeling so much better about it all now and I got soooo much joy passing those yarns on to those girls. It made it totally worth it! Take care, and thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Reorganizing is always, “Yes, let’s do this!” Until you are in the middle and thinking, “What in the heck have I done.” Haha so far what you have shown it’s looking great. And don’t worry I trash projects or yarn as well. I have no problem detaching!
I’m telling you, I will convince you some day to start Tunisian😂 It’s not as intimidating as it looks. lol
Chicken nuggets and tater tots, can never go wrong.
Thanks for sharing Shannon!
And I love the sock yarn that you showed that you will be using for a collab. 😍
Thank you my friend for the support! And yes at some point you’ll convert me to Tunisian lol 😂
I’m so excited to hang out Saturday morning again ❤️
Gotta do whatcha gotta do! This has given me the freedom to toss a wip I’ve had for quite some time. I got the yarn on clearance and I love the yarn and wanted to reuse it once I realized the project was a total fail but I had already woven in ends and I spent HOURS trying to salvage the yarn and had to just put it away. It’s been in a bag for several months and I think instead of investing more time trying to save the yarn I’m just going to throw the thing out. It’s not worth the mental load and frustration.
Meagan, you just described exactly what I was going through with all the bags I found. I think I was just avoiding dealing with them even tho I knew what I should do. I do feel tons better getting rid of them. I think it even kind of cleared up some creativity since I’m no longer investing mental energy into those things! I hope you have a wonderful weekend Friend ❤️
I organized my yarn recently too! The last couple times that I organized my yarn stash, I also got very overwhelmed after pulling it all out of the closet…there was a mess everywhere. I felt like I wanted to cry lol, but took it one step at a time. So glad you shared this with us! You did a great job at organizing! 🙂
Oh my gosh Jessie, that is 100% relatable!!!! I was pretty close to crying! Thank you for sharing that, I’m sure it will help more people than just me. It’s so good to know we aren’t alone ❤️❤️❤️
@@ShannonTalksYarn you’re welcome! When I saw how overwhelmed you were, it totally reminded me of myself trying to organize my own yarn stash. Yes, it’s very nice to know we are not alone! ♥️😊
@sweetmomentsbyjessie When you and others share you’ve felt the same way, it’s comforting to know it’s a common feeling and that we aren’t a failure!!! 🥰
I'm proud of you! I know how hard it is to keep working when you're overwhelmed. You did great!
Thank you Juliet!! I really appreciate you saying that 🥰
You’re so right, it is hard to keep going when I feel overwhelmed but I’m so glad I got it done. 😃
A use first stash is a brilliant idea!
I have to keep things where I can see them!!! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🥴😂
@@ShannonTalksYarn same 😅 Always a nice surprise when you find someone you forgot you had
@GreyAndCrochet yes it is!!!
I'm so glad that you were able to get the organization done. I'm up for the challenge. I know l will feel overwhelmed too, but I will keep it til I feel better about my room. I feel like I just want to close the door and just go crochet.😊 I can't wait til it looks better, and l want to go in there again, and spending time in there too . I know it will take some time for me because of my health situation, but l look forward to the end result.😊
I totally understand where you’re coming from about closing the door and going to crochet!! It sounds like you’re doing a good job of keeping your goal in perspective! Maybe just work on for a half hour at a time. I think I got more overwhelmed by trying to power through it lol!!! Keep me posted on your progress 😃
Hi Shannon, I started working on the craft room today. I cleared off one of the card tables.(l have two). I emptied three bags of yarn into containers. I put the rest of the yarn that are balls in the closet. That's all that I did today. Monday I will work on it again. I will try to keep you updated on the process. It will help to know that you are interested in my progress. Thanks 👍
@leilonnihamilton8356 you got a lot done, that’s awesome!!! Of course I’m interested, we are accountability buddies ❤️❤️❤️
I did this a few weeks ago and put up more wire shelves. I still need to organize the lesser used yarn. And I started another Jayda-In-Stitches scrap blanket for a bunch of my scraps. It's a process.. neverending, it seems.. Thanks for sharing your work.
Hi Jolene! It sounds like you’re doing a great job staying on top of the organization and usage! But I do totally agree with you, the process is never ending lol!!!! Have a great weekend! ❤️
Hey if you need to throw things away do it. I've done it myself. It's gotta get done. I'm proud of you
Thank you, I really appreciate the encouragement!! I agree, sometimes things just have to go in order to make progress! 😃
within first 2 min you said the word tetris... brought me back to my childhood... oh this is this video for me :)
I love that Jenifer! Thanks for watching 😃
YOU CRUSHED IT!!! I FEEL YOU. For me, we down sized from about 3500 sq ft to about 1800 as empty nesters (4sons)…I was - of course - NOT a crocheter/crafter then, when I had space PLUS a full, wonderful basement…sigh…we built a townhome in our down town/city area and closets are at a premium with a two car garage being the preference. The one guest room we have (where the grandbabies sleep & our youngest stays when he comes to visit from Chicago, and my mom stays during visits) has TOTALLY become “Oma’s yarn room with sharp things we can’t play with”. Lol. Do NOT feel bad, just for the record! Look at me! My words are as chaotic as my yarn!!! Lol. Hugs to you, shannon! ☺️🧶🫶🏻 - Lisa
Hi Lisa! That’s a big adjustment to downsize your house by half! But I get it, we are empty nesters too. Although no grand babies for us yet tho. It’s crazy how quick the yarn gets chaotic isn’t it lol!?!? Thanks as always for your support Lisa, I really appreciate it! Have a great weekend my friend! ❤️
You really really did a fantabulous job, Sister!!! Hugs and happy weekend!! 🧡
Thank you for sharing!!!! I need to clean my closet.
You’re welcome! Hopefully it helps with some motivation, sometimes it’s soooo hard to get started! But it’s also hard in the middle too lol 😂
Haha me watching this while eating chicken fingers and waffle fries… definitely grown up! 😜
Hahahaha that’s perfect, I love it!!! 😂😂😂
Hi Shannon 🤗 well done! 👏🏻👏🏻 I wanted to get up and organise my yarn room with you! It’s great that you found some treasures amongst your yarn! It’s lovely that you’re donating sooo much yarn! You have a lot of beautiful yarn! Love the O’Go’s! Ps tattatos are yum! 😋🥰🧶🤩
Thank you!!! It was a journey for sure lol! I’m was so happy to give my really bright stuff to a couple teenage girls it will go to good use! And I agree, I really Janet found any potato I haven’t loved 😂😂😂
PS: if you’d ever like to sell unwanted yarn, I’m VERY interested! But I COMPLETELY agree with you; sometimes it’s just GOT to GO. I hope you do NOT feel bad about that, either! 🧡
I’ll totally keep that in mind for next time around! I was ok getting rid of yarn I was definitely more upset with the dozen or more unfinished failed projects…… I need to address those head on instead of shoving them in a bag and forgetting them…… 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🫠
I think it would be healthier to think of them as “projects that weren’t right in that moment” versus “failed”, my friend. You are NOT failing! You’re awesome! You create beautiful, worthwhile, HANDMADE goodness! If a project isn’t speaking to you; that’s cool. Next! Nothing wrong with that AT ALL!!! 😘😘😘
@NurseLisaFromOH That is a very helpful way at looking at it!!! Sometimes it’s hard to show ourselves the kindness we show others 🤦🏻♀️
Shannon, I just love you! Honestly, if I had a daughter (I don't), I'd want her to be like you! You did a GREAT job! As a mom, and fellow crocheter, I'm so proud of you!
Thank you so much Lisbeth ❤️❤️❤️ how come it’s so easy to destroy a craft room and so difficult to put it back together!?!?!? Anyway thank you again special friend, I hope you have an awesome weekend ❤️
I think I used that same orange yarn in a grey and rust color as a messy bun hats and didn’t use all of it. It was a 6 weight . -125 yds
I’m just really feeling the brown, orange and rusts lately! Did you like how your hats turned out? 😃
Wow! You have some serious, but beautiful yarn! But, it's understandable. You live out in the country. Me, I live really close to craft stores, so it wouldn't make much sense for me to have alot on hand. I wish you well in your reorganization. It's looking good!😊❤
Thank you Joan, I’m feeling pretty good about how it’s turned out! It’s almost back to a guest room! Yeah, it’s been very helpful for me to keep yarn I enjoy. It could be several weeks before I can get to town with a yarn/craft store. And we all now how it feels when we want to start a project immediately lol!!! 😂 😂😂
Oh, I do!
@@joannunemaker6332 it’s torture when you have to wait 😂
I need to organize my yarn. 😩
I’m here for ya Valerie! ❤️❤️❤️
Looks good! Now come and do mine 🙃
Ok lol! 😆
Have you looked into vacuum bags? They work great unless you have cats with claws… lol
I’ve wondered about using those! Do you have a particular brand you like the best? I wouldn’t want to “cheap out” and the have them slowly fill with air lol! My big requirement is that whatever they go in needs to be see through.
Only used them once and don’t remember brand name. Got them from Bed Bath and Beyond. We were moving and too many of my cats decided to check the bags out and their claws ruined the seal.
@darlenenicholas6380 oh nooo! But I can totally see my cat doing that too. Technically he’s not allowed in that room but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t occasionally sneak in! 🤦🏻♀️😂
