You look and sound so defeated. Remember that poor sales do NOT represent your worth as a creator. You put lots of time and love into your craft. Stay proud of yourself. There are many reasons why a show could be slow. I did a craft show with my paper crafts and only sold a handful of things. My work was beautiful but it didn't sell well at that particular fair. Keep trying!

You’re a fabulous artist. I can crochet and I’m pretty good, but I look at your inventory and wish I could crochet as near good as you! Stay encouraged because your an inspiration to me.

Think about the number of people who do value you and your work. I’ve only just started building stock, it’s a lot lot harder than I expected. I’ve knitted a lot, toys etc but this is a whole new ball game. Your stall is amazing. I hope you’ve sold plenty since and remember the negative comments are a reflection of themselves not you.

I love these market roundup videos! Don't get too discouraged about what people say, its not worth your time. Rather focus on the people who do buy your items and love them❤

Here's a funny story for you: Years ago I was taking tole painting classes and one of the ladies decided to do a craft show. Well two ladies came up to her table and were speaking Polish, saying they could paint these items and they aren't so great, etc. Well the lady from my class also understood and spoke Polish so she waiting til they were done gossiping and then she started speaking Polish telling them how rude they are and if they think they can do better then to go right away and try. She said you should have seen their faces, they couldn't believe she had understood their entire conversation and they were so embarrassed. She finished with before you insult people right in front of their table you better figure out if they can understand your rude comments. They took off like 2 children that got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Chin up, there will always be people that will try to steal your thunder and bring you down and it's usually because they are jealous. You do a beautiful job with your creations, don't let rude people take that from you, consider the source.

Your display looked beautiful! I also take things slow and steady for market prep, I have a toddler so I can only crochet in the evenings. My goals for this year is to make crochet friends, listen to at least 10 audiobooks and to use up 5 skeins of yarn from my stash before I buy a new one 😂

I really enjoy watching your videos, and your items are beautiful! I sew and crochet items for craft fair markets and have also encountered rude people and their comments. Don't let them get you down. Truth is, they most likely will not make it themselves as they won't pay for the materials or take the time to learn and attempt it. I usually think of it as a joke and try not to let it bother me.

Just started crocheting this year and i find it a lot of fun, want to go to a market one day as well! I want to be able to crochet cozy animals and plants and anime stuff as well. Thank you so much for your video and your suggestions! Plus your art is very cute ❤

I don’t get those comments, I price my things pretty low & because of that I haven’t ever heard them. HOWEVER, my last market, an older lady picked out a turtle for her granddaughter, she handed it to me to put in a bag & asked how much it was, I told her $15, and she says “$15 for this? What a rip off” as she handed me her money & I wanted to curl into a ball and cry, honestly.
Your stuff is so so cute & I adore your booth set up! Value your time & items because they are amazing!

You are a fantastic crafter, your work is beautiful and your set up is gorgeous, I can tell you put alot of hard work into it. It is discouraging I'm sure. Don't let it get to you...I did my first craft fair a few months ago, stressed over it, and wondered if I was asking too much for my stuff. I only sold a few items, still brought home quite a bit 😢 I was discouraged, I even stopped crocheting for awhile....but guess what, I'm at it again because I enjoy it!!❤❤ keep your head up, we know our worth!!😉

Try not to get down with those comments. I get those comments occasionally too, but I just brush it off. The positive feedback far exceeds the negative Nelly’s. If they want to make it themselves that’s fine. The truth is, they probably won’t make it. Your customers will appreciate your work and those are the type of people you want anyway. 💜

i also have people telling me "oh I can make that" but they never show me pictures of what they have made. I don't let it get me down. I knw the worth of my products and my skill. Your items look great!

Ignore the comments, I know it's hard but people are just RUDE sometimes. They think they can make it but they won't, maybe they are trying to boost their own confidence??? Shows have been considerably slower this year, has nothing to do with your talent! Keep up the good work!

I haven't personally gotten those comments, but that makes me so mad that people would say that about your stuff. (Your items look like they're amazing quality by the way. Also, your setup is SO cute)

Would love to know your thoughts/experiences about using Amazon marketplace. Do they send you business or is it mostly a holding spot where you send your customers?
And ignore the folks that want your handcrafts for cheap. You are not Walmart. They are not your customers.

I've had people come up to my booth look at the price take a picture with their phone and say " i'll have XYZ make this for cheaper". It made me so sad because that was my art they are basically stealing in front of my face.

This is a good point. I never thought of it before!! I feel like a lot of the time people think they can replicate others crochet so easily but you can’t, especially if you do t have the same skill set and eye.

I’ve been there as a vender and people say I can do that, or my mom or whoever can make that for me…. I just smile and let them walk on. It is discouraging to bring home a lot of inventory, but I also view that as less stress to make more inventory and maybe focus on something for myself. I love your items and your booth set up looked great. Curious, how was the Peg board supported?

    • @backtoedencrochet
      @backtoedencrochet  7 месяцев назад +1

Thanks for the kind words! My peg board is zip tied to a photographer backdrop frame. It’s hard to put up by yourself (but doable).

It’s very rude. Ignore people like that. I Hinkley there’s some jealousy there. I think your item’s are beautiful.
People don’t realise how much work goes into a market stall like yours.

@loren.crochets has similar issues with comments about our prices. They come into our booth, touch and squeeze, let their kids touch, then look at the price and make rude comments. We have quality and beautiful products and refuse to be discouraged. Your products and display are beautiful!!!
