I have seen some fur yarns used on crocheted beanies recently and they were gorgeous and so tasteful. I actually thought about trying some. I used to like eyelash yarn used for certain things but found I am super allergic to something used with them. I broke out in welts all over my face. At least I broke out in the past.

I keep all of the funky yarn to create embellishments for clothing and trims for embroidery. It is all cool. Lol, at first I thought you said "Mod fashion". I'm dating myself

Hi Shannon. I love thrifted yarns. Especially vintage yarns. I was bidding on some yarn on eBay. I was so surprised at the competition. It's nice to know that other people appreciate the value of vintage and thrifted yarns. I enjoy the challenge of trying to find patterns for unique/discontinued yarns.

February 15, 2024: What an exciting effect combining the yarns. Velvet and mohair are difficult alone, and I have stayed away from them. But now it seems a relook. I love the sweater, and it looks so delicious. What a brilliant idea to upcycle a jacket with adding the faux fir trim. Or even with pearls for elegance. What using slap bracelets!

Hey, I love it! Ive always been considered A little different in my clothing choices too. I just enjoy wearing what I like and don't dress for others, just for me. Love the hats, been making and donating hats for months to chemo patients. Ill give these yarns a try! Love it! Thank you!!😀😀😀

Love pairing the mohair with the chenille. I haven't been a fan of fur, but I seem to have amassed a fair amount I need to use in a project. :)
Hi Carrie! I was surprised how much I love the mohair and chenille combo together. It’s so pretty, IMO. I will definitely do that again and I even have 1 call of cream mohair that I thrifted with the dark so I’m ready to go lol! That’s funny you have so much fur. I can relate, novelty yarns have always been so tempting to me 😃

My sister gave me a bunch of novelty yarn. Now you have gotten me excited to use them. For fur is not my fave, yet it makes me smile to use it. Lol

Mob wife core? I’ve heard it all now lol! I’m not a crocheter but would love to be because I love to wear it and some homewares are stunning but my dysfunctional working memory combined with ADHD makes a lot of things difficult.

There’s an unlimited combination of yarn colors and texture plus quick easy patterns. I stay away from really time consuming blankets and stuff tho. I appreciate you watching and commenting! Thank you Jessie! I think the pattern was called Lacey scarf by Lenysea. In the thumbnail it bright colors. Mine was kind of pain, it was a mohair blend. I found out I only like mohair paired with another yarn lol 😂 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I bought faux fur on sale from Lion Brand and printed out the Annie Bucket Hat pattern. Started with a cowl to get the hang of it. We’ll see how I do with the hat. Wish me luck!

Hi, I’m Margaret from Mississippi and I crochet amigurumi mostly but your suggestions are great! I think I make myself something with my faux fur yarns and let someone order it! In Central Mississippi our winter is Jan and Feb. and what we call cold is anything below 60 degrees, lol. I look forward to watching you more.

Hi Shannon, I got some boots that have fur on them. They are very cute, warm for my feet 😍. I love them. I made a collar for a friend. She wears it in the winter. 😊 I have always liked the scarf you have hanging on the wall behind you. It would be cute with the fur on the edge. I like it the way it is already.😊

Thank you Christy! The green scarf is a pattern by Lenysea called Lacey scarf for beginners. Here’s a link: ruclips.net/video/PmSkS_9DVHE/видео.htmlsi=B1m2UyxFlUnO6Bw9 and the yarn was discontinued from Joann. It was a 2 weight with a little sparkle in it and it was an acrylic mohair blend. I live the look but don’t enjoy working with it. So hopefully you can find something similar but better! And the cram color scarf was one I rescued from a thrift store!!! It seems like double crochet, pretty simple but probably a 5 or 6 weight. Hope that helps!!!

Hi I'm Barb from North Carolina. I crochet almost everyday. Your video has some great ideas! I noticed the clearance stickers from Hobby Libby! Does anyone know when they might have their next clearance. I actually bought a bunch of their mohair on clearance once so now I need to get busy. I like using faux fur for trim on the doggy sweaters I make
Hi Barb! So historically HL has always done the annual clearance sale in June every year. In 2023, it started March/April since they were doing a floor reset and were condensing some of the needle craft area. I would assume it will probably be in June again but I can’t be certain. The other thing to note is the stores are given a date it needs to be done by and they start it based on their schedule. So it will be slightly different for all of us. I recommend checking in often to check it out. I have been very fortunate the past few years that I’ve gotten in on it but you never know! I hope u get some good bargains!
You buy the metal tape measures and cut them with cheap scissors and round off ends and make them any size you want. Same as slap bracelets. Buy cheap measures the expensive ones are not better. These make great purse closures as well

Hello from another Iowa girl! I like fluffy yarn but not novelty yarn, and I just can't handle the feel of the velvet/chenille yarns. I have sensory issues, and for some reason, those set me off.

@@ShannonTalksYarn Our yard is a swamp! The warmer weather is nice, but it's such a mess. Acrylic isn't my favorite, but it's what I'm working with right now. I much prefer natural fibers.

Oh great, as if "n4rc0-culture" wasn't big enough here in Mexico. I hate the internet sometimes. I know there is a big opportunity for finding inspiration in this trend if you like fuzzy things like yourself, that's great for you, but I feel like many people will only jump on this trend and mindlessly buy these novelty yarns just for FOMO and then those yarns and pieces will end up not being used. It happens all the time with trends, especially since they tend to last only for a short time.
I really love your hat though, it looks very comfy. This comment is not meant to say I dislike this video, I'm only talking about the trend itself and whoever thought of it, because it's obvious this is part of your style already, and it's a very nice style, it suits you.
Hello! I want to thank you for watching and commenting! I totally agree with you about doing things to be trendy. I actually just had a video talking about FOMO! I'm all about working out of my yarn stash, purchasing yarn with a purpose and blessing others with the yarn we won't use. That's why I was as excited to see a popular style that I could pull out some of those tricky yarns and get to use them! I'm assuming many people have bought the faux fur yarns and then never actually used them. Hopefully this video just helps inspire crocheters to pull those yarns out and finally use them! I've got a couple more months of winter where I live so I'll be wearing the faux fur a while longer. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I hope you'll stick around!

Ewww! Tacky fashion! Pretty horrible to be honest. But using up orphan yarns is a great idea and I love your hat. I use up to 4 strands of ickie yarns to crochet with a large hook into baskets and rugs. But fur and animal prints? No thanks! 😅
