These days my favorite thing to listen to is Musica Medievale. It doesn't matter which one - they are all fantastic. I am transported to another time and place. Thank you!
I became enamored of troubadours music and poetry as a medical student about 62 years ago. I learned about it from Lanza del Vasto and his wife Chanterelle Lanza del Vasto who came to my country during those faraway years. I learned mostly about XIII century troubadours from Aquitaine and Provençe. None of the troubadours I knew was a woman. Many were noblemen including the Roi de Navarre (Thibaut de Champagne). The music has the embryo of western, celtic, gaelic music with a strong input from arab invaders, who were a significant part of Europe at the time. The melodies may sound arab or greek or turkish, but the european gothic signature is already there. The minimalist and very serious theme was love... romantic love, an invention from the troubadours. This music evolves from the church music (gregorian chant) and secular songs. The confluence of those musical styles, church and court, gave birth of the music of the XIV and XV centuries, giving birth to western music. Let's thanks Musica Medievale for this fascinating upload.
Un ejemplo, bello además, del llamado "Amor Cortés" de Occitania. Final del Siglo XII y comienzo del XIII. Aparición de las Lenguas Romance y aparición de otra forma de poesía en el sur de Francia.

''...pleasant, relaxing, nocturnal and melancholic.'' Thank you, dear MM. This compilation/album is another precious medieval gem. My evening couldn't be any more perfect with a glass of wine and this exquisitely beautiful music by talented troibaritz.
I haven't listened to the record yet, but "Bella Domna" sounds like the sort of name a gothic dominatrix might have, being quite close sounding to belladonna. :v

The further into the depths of the centuries, the more we feel the true essence of music.

songs and poetry like this were imported from the Moors who ruled most of the Iberian peninsula for 800 years

Can you write lyrics of the last song "Lassa, Mais M'agra Valgut" ... many thanks ❤
This is a beautiful album.
One quibble: if the composer is Anon., how is it determined she is in fact a woman?
Or is that texts are Anonymous and the music is by the two researchers?
The title of the work is "Nobles Dames et Amour Courtois", the lyrics are by noble ladies or about amour courtois 🌸
Do you have English translation lyrics of these music?
Sadly not, but if you buy the records you can find it in the booklet 🌸
I haven't listened to the record yet, but "Bella Domna" sounds like the sort of name a gothic dominatrix might have, being quite close sounding to belladonna. :v
Bella domna is "wonderful woman" 🌹
Interessant, agreable, mais cela demeure des interprétations. Nous n'avons aucune idée comment cette misique sonnait réellement, instruments et voix.
The more interpretations there are, the more possibilities for study we have.
من از طریق یوتیوب ناگهان عاشق موسیقی قرون وسطی شدم ❤ کاملا غیرارادی
