This happened to my late '13 MBP. I hadn't even updated yet. Was still on 14.0. Only updated OCLP to 1.21, updated root patch in preparation for the upgrade and got stuck after restart. @@JessiesFlying I didn't say that was THE solution. In the video, it was suggested trying it to see if it helps users be able to conitinue the upgrade or a reboot into safe mode. It worked on my MacBook Pro 2012 too. How do you reboot “manually”? I am frustrated as any recommendation given here fails to get me beyond the “log in page”! I also don’t make it with the “shift” pressing into safe boot. Anything else I could “press” to get the system running?
Hi @chapeaubay , with rebooting 'manually' I meant a hard reboot. Then you select the efi boot and when you get the selection of boot drives (like Macintosh HD) you select the boot drive while holding the shift key and then press enter. If your Mac keyboard (built-in or bluetooth) doesn't do that you should you could use a usb keyboard. I hope that will help get it fixed

After rebooting, selecting the OCLP EFI, and reaching the MacOS HD selection screen, press and hold the space bar and after a few moments you should see additional options to boot from, including the "Reset NVRAM" executable. Select it and proceed as indicated from there.
Resetting NVRAM doesn’t help here
@@JessiesFlying I didn't say that was THE solution. In the video, it was suggested trying it to see if it helps users be able to conitinue the upgrade or a reboot into safe mode. I only gave an easier alternative on how to do such task which is simpler than doing a multi-button combo press which varies depending on the hardware kb you have. Started recovery by pressing shift on reboot. Already reset PRaM etc and stuck on reinstalling prior version of OS
Did you try NVRAM reset?
I tried to upgrade to Sonoma and my keyboard and mouse wouldn’t work. I had to drop back to the previous OS. I am on a 2009 5,1 dual 3.33, 48 gig ram, metal 8 gig Asus graphics card 590. My OS is on a 1T SSD and I have 8T storage. My old Canon printer no longer works with the new OS but it’s needing to be updated anyway. My other issue is that I have to press the power on button 5 or 6 times before I hear the chime and get the machine to boot. I think my power supply is about to go and needs replacing. A new used one is only $40 dollars. I will hold off until we see a patch for the new OS.

Try safe mode perhaps to install root patches…
It worked on my MacBook Pro 2012 too. After it got stuck with the progress bar at about one third, rebooting manually to the efi boot and then booting into safe mode, checking if Sonoma 14.1 was installed (yes!), opening Open Core patcher and installing the root patches and after another reboot everything seems to be fine
