Great video and another fabulous new Irish channel I have discovered today . I live close to Carrickmacross and I really must do that route someday. Cycle from Carrickmacross to Slane and then as you did, on to Navan and Kingscourt and back to Carrick. That'd be a grand day out.
You should lifted your bike over the gate, it would have been the nicest strech of your whole trip. Known locally as the Navan ramparts. Its a very nice greenway of the old tow path of the boyne navigation. I think those gates originally had something to do with preventing motorcycle access which the powers that be need to have another look at. In my opinion the nicest greenway in Meath. There is talk of continuing the green way along the the old boyne navigation to Drogheda. The sooner they get that done the better. It would be a greenway to rival any in the country for beauty and history.
the castletown section is getting tarmac surface not all of it there was problems with flooding its closed at the moment.that cection you came across on the bridge with silly gate is more a walkway but i cycled it years ago takes you into navan, there is plans for greenway from drogheda to navan all along the rive but honestly i doubt it will ever get built.any way Andrew another gret video ill share it with navan cycling thanks.
