Its really sad to think that all memory of Dagwood will soon be forgotten. Its even sadder to think loveable creations far younger than Dagwood from 40 or even 20 years ago have already been forgotten in this day of media seas floodes with irrelevant info.

      Wouldn't Dagwood be considered irrelevant?

Thank you for this narration. I am a big fan of Dagwood and Blondie and I didn't know about the 1968 program. The films from 1938 to 1950 are very entertaining and well done. Dagwood is so lovable and innocent, bungling through life but manages to succeed in the end. 🌲🍷🌲

I tried making one once when my wife was still alive and locked my jaw, I had to really work to close my mouth.

Me and my cousin always make our own version of the dagwood. Especially when we had all of our kids at camp witch there all grown up now.. but we'd take 4 to 6 slices of bread and just put everything we could on them bacon, ham, sausage, cheese chips. Just anything.. lol... great memories

Hello from Australia. I saw the Blondie and Dagwood series of film where on afternoon TV. In the late 1960's to early 1970's. I loved the shows, I started cooking for myself at a young age my mum died when I was thirteen. And my quest for the perfect Bumsted sandwich because a quest. Here is my basic sandwich, ( I add anything good fridge if available) bread, peanut butter, mayonnaise, red onion, sliced Beetroot, Ham, cheese, tomato, lettuce, 2nd bread buttered both sides, cucumber ,cheese ( different kind) sliced pickle, grated carrot, more tomato, bacon, (baby spinach, or rocket, or sauerkraut,) cream cheese, 3rd bread.
Love to know what was on your local Bumsted sandwich, my other two favorite sandwiches are, Reuben sandwich, pastrami, mustard, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese. On rye, warm. And bacon peanut butter and lettuce. Thanks for the video

I think your sandwich sounds more like Dagwood's sandwich as we see it in the comic strip. The one I get has a lot on it, but you can get your mouth around it. It's basically all the meats, including bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, pickles and one cheese with mayonnaise and mustard. There's only 2 slices of bread.

I grew up in the 70's, and in Detroit metro area, most party store has ready made sandwiches, usually bbq beef, and cold cut sandwiches. One they called Dagwood. My father wood bring home enough of them for us kids, they came on an onion roll, cheese both sides, he mayo on each side of bun. Rgill the until a caramelized onion roll appeared. He took them to another level. Following his lead, I had him just get sandwich meats cheese and onion rolls, and made fresh homemade Dagwood's for everyone, and they were the best.... I added Dijon to the mayo, and changed flavor profile. take dijon mayo put it on the cut side of onion bun, the layer of cheese on both sides, just grill the bread, take and heat the meat in the microwave, grill well until dark golden brown.

Thank you for this. Blondie and Dagwood have been hero's of mine for decades. I never missed an episode with Penny and Arthur or the Sunday funnies with Blondie. Love the Bumstead's!

I used to read the big Dagwood comic every Sunday and the smaller ones during the week. I still make my own Dagwood Bumstead sandwich.

My Mom, over 80 remembers the Blondie shorts. She also seems to remember that the dog Daisy at one time had many puppies and they all looked like Daisy. Hate to date myself but I vaguely remember the TV show from the 60s with Jim Bacus from Gilligan's Island. Was there anything this guy wasn't in?
