These images of the NYWF 64-65 are excellent. I grew up in nearby Forest Hills, N.Y.. I was 10 years old at the opening of the New York World's Fair in 1964. We went to the World's Fair every weekend when it was opened. The NYWF was literally in our backyard. It was a magical existence. The gate near the Florida Pavilion, accessed by the pedestrian overpass over the Grand Central Parkway and the gate near the Transportation Exhibits, accessed by the pedestrian overpass over the close-by Long Island Expressway were the 2 fairground portals which were a 20 minute walk from my (parent's) house. I remember The Brass Rails (food kiosks demarcated by a tent roof that resembled a cluster of large white weather balloons). I remember visitors eating Belgian waffle while walking to their next destination (most likely a queue to some popular pavilion). I remember the iconic colorful geometric street lamps. I remember the light green fiberglass slab futuristic park benches. I still have my souvenir injection molded green brontosaurus from Sinclair Dinoland, official guide book and guide map. Thank you for your generosity in sharing these images, it brought to life my memories of the 64-65 NYWF. God bless.
Grew up in Corona across from the fair. We parked cars in our yard. We didn't own a movie camera; what a shame. Thanx for this video, excellent quality for the day.
Great home movies,!! The best I have seen,!! I was 18 years old in 1964, My grandmother gave me money to go to the Fair almost every weekend,!! She knew it would be a once in a lifetime experience, I must have went 12 times in 1964,and another 12 times in 1965,!! I met two beautiful girls at the Fair, sisters from N.J., almost married one,!! I am 76 yrs old now,and wish I could go back to the Fair,,,, now and forever,!!! Les,D.
So many memories...I took a tour of the grounds last year, tried to reimagine the excitement of that time. Also saw the monument of the buried time capsule...Peace Through Understanding was the motto, still have that engraved keychain...Thanks for this!
How I would love to return & walk those grounds again! Best memories ever & why I head to “It’s A Small World 🌎 “ at Disney World in Orlando, the minute we get there ( haven’t been in few years) for just temporarily, it brings my Nana & THE NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIR” 1964-65 back to me, even if it is only fir as long as that ride last & those only to familiar music 🎶 keeps playing in my mind , as I leave my favorite “ride!”
I moved to Flushing when I was 4 years old and was nine when the World’s Fair started. We lived a 15 minute bus ride away so my mother, who didn’t drive, took me and my brother ( and sometimes some friends) to the Fair quite often ( my father, who did drive didn’t want to go as frequently as we did LOL). I loved it and I didn’t appreciate at the time how lucky I was to live so close to it. My older daughter was married in Terrace on the Park in 2007, which was an exhibit at the Fair but is now utilized as a place to have events. Happy memories😀
@@donnytucker Yes,I remember it like it was yesterday. In the Queens Museum ,which was a Pavilion in both the '39 and '64 Fair there is a collection of memorabilia on both fairs. It's quite extensive. You would love it.
My family visited the NY Worlds Fair several times in 1964. Q27 from Bayside to downtown Flushing and one stop on the 7 Train the Fairgrounds. My only regret is not fully appreciating the wonder and grandeur at 5 years old. But I do remember eating Belgian Waffles, riding the Gondola, Ford convertible seeing Dinosaurs, Uniroyal Ferris Wheel, It’s a small World, Carousel of Progress, and Elsie the Cow attractions.
I was 5 years old then living in Jersey City. In 1990 I visited the park long after the glory days of the fair. I remember the New York Pavilion and the Unisphere. What happened to the little girl? How is she now?
Great Video, thanks for posting. I loved seeing the bigger boy taking care of little brother. These home movies provide a nice view of things that we don't get to see with the newsreel type views of the fair.
This was a great place to be, So much to see. I went my aunt. Always remember the beautiful architecture of different Bldg. Really enjoy looking this video, Memories
Good overall home movie footage of the fair. Thanks for posting your family’s memories. I was 10 in 1965 when we went. Your movie brings back memories of my own family’s trip to the fair.
Amazing, I remember going with my family when I was 10, my brother 7, and my sister 4. The rental strollers they had for my sister was a corvette...We have dozens of slides of our trip there...thanks for the memories!
Great quality picture and content. Was this your family? I would have been 7 years old in 1964. About the age of the young boy in the film. Back in 1994 before the park was completely finished I climbed up into the Unisphere and my buddy took a picture of me with a Stereo Realist 3D camera. I took my film canister and put a little bit of dirt from the fair grounds. Still have it. I’ve been a fair and expo nut for many years. Thanks for the great film.
My three visits to this fair were the highlight of my childhood. I wish I still had my Sawyer ViewMaster slides of the fair. I had a lot of them. This footage and transfer are both excellent. Clean and colorful with nary a scratch.
All those people who were at the fair have already died of old age and the children today are elderly I know because I was 15 years old and I was at the fair in New York 1964’s 65’ beautiful the movie súper!
Its really too bad this didn’t stay. With what Disney charges in comparison this was cheap. Amazing what they built for only 2 years. I appreciate seeing this bc I don’t remember much at 7. I did races there in the 80;s - i was raised 15 minutes away

My twin brother and I were 9 years old when we went there back in 1964. Actually was lucky enough to go there three days. It was great.
Think I was about the same age as the little guy in the film and still remember the fair but I had forgotten the robot car - Thanks for a great film!

Loved this World’s Fair & went with my Nana in 1964!!!! Miss my grandmother & this extraordinary fair! Great video!
I've become obsessed with the 64-65 worlds fair this year. It's no wonder I love Epcot as it's the closest thing we have that resembles it.
did you go to the Fair?

Grew up in corona, and attended get togethers on the fair grouds way after the world's fair had ended.what a high. Gary genzale

Yes this is my family. The was filmed with 16mm Kodachome film which was recently converted to this digital format.

Great footage and color . I attended when I was 10.

beautiful the movie súper!
How did you get such clean movie images? Its Outstanding!
This was originally filmed on 16mm stock. About 8 years ago I had it transferred to digital by a professional outfit.
The picture quality seems way too good for 1964 but I love it. Went to the fair many times.
This was shot on 16mm silent film with a Bolex camera.
Can we PLEASE have a 2039 New York World’s Fair?
No need : Joe Biden is a World's Fair of its own!
@@ygoryanka3729 as opposed to that fascist asshole Trump
serious question...did immigrants go to these types of fairs? I only ask because I don't see many at all in these older videos
