So happy that alcohol is out of my life- it didn’t add anything a darn thing! I got sucked in by others- not anymore,; I’m finally a grownup at 73!😜

I made a great dish yesterday.
Sautéed mushrooms and zucchini, threw in a handful of bell pepper.
But, instead of water or vegetable stock, I sautéed it all in mushroom stock.
Then I added more stock, and a wee bit of arrowroot powder, to give it a gravy consistency.
Served over rice. It was really good, and didn’t take much time or work.
The peppers and mushrooms were pre sliced, and the zucchini was easy to slice, I made the rice in my rice cooker while I was cooking the rest, so it was fast and easy, and came out really delicious!

That's so interesting how you don't eat in the morning because "you're still relatively full." If I eat before bed, even just a snack, I wake up ravenous. I have to stop eating at least 2-3 hours before bedtime, which has become challenging. Fascinating how different everyone's body is.

Great talk...I was having a huge salad as I watched. I love the part where you are not counting calories or checking off boxes of how much of whatever you are eating. Total frees up my mind. Now, my metabolism is not like yours...not too many of us are like you. But I am doing so many things you are doing, I just know I am on the right track. I do identify with you when you say, I don't really feel guilty eating whatever the bad is, but I do not feel well after words. For me, that is truly stops me from making bad choices. I just do not want to wake up feeling crappy from a stupid choice I have made. I am 70...I cherish each morning waking up feeling great and happy. I don't want to waste a morning waking up miserable from a food coma the night before. Thanks for continuing to share all that you are experiencing...it really helps!

Okay, when you mentioned keeping your snack food "clean" because you'll overeat when you add things like chocolate chips, my head snapped up. This is so me. I am bad about making "healthy" vegan snacks and overeating them because they don't have the typical dessert ingredients like (white flour/sugar/eggs/butter/oil), but they still have calorie-dense ingredients like nut butter, maple syrup, and vegan chocolate. Thanks for that reality check. I appreciate the clarity in your videos!

Regarding alcohol....I have been vegan for 5 years now and this lifestyle has changed my life in so many expected and unexpected ways. It seems over the last two years my interest and desire for alcohol, like Dillan mentioned, has simply evaporated . In the past, drinking wine with friends was a weekly event. It was at the point where a bottle of red wine per sitting, maybe even more, was standard. Each week, at some point, while in my mid 40s, I was drunk and hungover. At the same time thought, I continued to eat a diet very similar to Dillans, as a result my mind and body healed and it’s functioning improved dramatically, I felt so great, so well tuned, alert, with consistent feelings of happiness and content, no anxieties about food, constant, stable energy for regular exercise....etc, So much so, that I wasn’t interested in alcohol. When I did and still do have an occasional glass of wine, I really don’t enjoy the experience. The taste and after effects are not enjoyable. Having great health is gift!

My favorite meal at night is 3 ripe avocados which I make guac from with a pinch of salt, pepper, half a squeezed lemon and garlic powder. Then I take two cucumbers and slice them into elongated slices and I dip them into the guac and eat away. Better than chips! Raw, living chips, instead. Keeps me feeling full all night till morning.

I just made a pot of split pea soup - yum...... I believe my body tells me what it wants. The weather will get nice and warm soon and I'll crave more fresh veggies, so I'll honor that. I love hummus, so I'll make that on the weekends. An open bag is an empty bag, so I cannot buy many bags. Common Sense - you speak it every time!!!

I struggle sometimes with my toddlers rich food. I do buy him nuts/seeds, dried fruit, and make him vegan crackers with oil. I have tried making them without, but he won’t eat them & requests goldfish crackers (we started SAD when he was born so I consider the crackers a success if the only non-WFPB is oil).
Oh and I stock up on larabars when I can get them 80 cents a bar or less.
I also make him peanut butter bars with Uncle Sam Cereal and maple syrup. And balls made of dates & oats.
It’s so hard to pack enough food for us when we are gone 6+ hours. He needs some shelf stable, calorie dense foods.
I obviously do not and even if I don’t pack enough for myself, I will survive until we get home, but I can’t have my toddler go hungry on a regular basis (or ever).
I also live with my husband who eats SAD, but he happily has given up meat in the home for me, and will only buy junk food I don’t like so I’m not tempted.
If I were single or had a WFPB partner, my kitchen would look much different, and much more easy for me to manage.
There are things I can change in my environment that I should change though. One being oats because I can easily make it into oat flour and make a “healthy” mug cake (I always have date or prune paste I made in the fridge for my son). If I just got whole oat groats and just the right amounts of quick oats for my son to make his snacks, I wouldn’t eat them.
Sorry for rambling to whoever is reading this, haha. But this video is a great reminder.
One big win recently is that I did a Mary’s mini challenge (it’s on my channel) and my husband is interested in doing it with me next! Yay!

    • @WellYourWorld
      @WellYourWorld  5 лет назад +1

You're not rambling, it's great stuff. Yes I think it is very important that toddlers and growing kids eat lots of calorie dense food. Doesn't have to be junk food of course, but lots of calorie dense food available. But at the end of the day kids can handle vegan junk food a lot better than a fully grown adult can. So be happy that you are doing a great job as a mom. Great of your husband to make some compromises! -Dillon

Hahahahaha we are all so alike us Vegans.🥰 I too have a sweet tooth but I-saw great results when I cut the fat and oil. Sugar is a killer because I also have a sweet tooth and I cannot have it in the house. I love dried fruit but only in small quantities. I do love good coffee. It is a constant checking in with myself and listening to what my body wants and needs. I live in Montreal Canada and here the winters are dark and cold so it can be really challenging at times. I am also an evening binge r try drying apple rings. I think it may be better then mango. Really love to have my treats in the evening...just the way it is for me. Sometimes I make myself a decaf coffee with soya milk. My go to treat will be sweet over fat.I-take B12 and Spirulina which I definitely need . Thanks for posting. 👍🙏❤️🕊🇨🇦

That was a great video ... I’m just getting into this whole food stuff and i have to say as far as you tubers ... you are the one I am connecting with the most .... by the way I’m still planning on having some fish ... probably during grilling season when everyone else is eating a lot of meat ... what are you thoughts on a little fish added to the diet you are promoting?

    • @WellYourWorld

I’m vegan so I recommend no animal products. But most plant-based doctors do acknowledge that you CAN maintain your health with very minimal intake of animal products such as fish, 0-3 servings per week of just 3-4 ounces, very small portions. Only you can decide how you want to transition to a better diet, you’re welcome here regardless.

I love dried mango too. I get an organic with no added sugar from Costco. Curbes sweat attack nicely when options would be far worse.

Combining a little fat in your veggies just means sprinkling on 2 t. of flax, chia or those pine nuts on top. If not that how about a skinny slice of avocado? Thats all it is, don't think its some major production, it's not.

Oh wow, Dillon. You keep the “bad” food off just like me keeping my son eating healthy when he was little. I simply won’t bring candies, cookies or chips home since my son’s principle is if it’s at home then he can eat it. I don’t like pill supplements. As for crunchy & crispy stuff i love to make multigrain/seeds crackers that consist of ground flax seeds, quinoa, chia, nuts/ pumpkin or sunflower seeds & water as binder seasoned with garlic powder + herb of choice. 1 recipe makes lots and it can last me a week. Freeze dried veggies also make awesome crunchy snacks to binge on. For condiments i use kombu + 10% salt water solution. This is my fish sauce replacement and i let it ferment for a whole week before using it. It smells & taste just like fish sauce except much less salty. If you like miso kind of taste, it’s better to make your own and control the salt just enough to keep the bad bacteria away. I love your content and your personality. When i quit alcohol 20 yrs ago, i also quit smoking. Then when i was diagnosed w/ tongue cancer & had to have it removed, i quit meat, fish & poultry. When i heard dr Greger said I don’t need dairy for calcium, i was so happy that i threw out all my whey protein powder & yogurt. Now i make my own coconut or cashew yogurt w/ vegan cultures, vegan kimchi & even soy sauce just to be sure of its ingredients. The funny thing is all these after effects of my cancer & my paranoia turn into a money making ventures. Keep up the good work & keep inspiring us to eat better & don’t change your personality for anyone. You’re great the way you are.

When I make sure to drink enough water throughout the day and also to eat my veggies like in salads and smoothies I get waaay less cravings for all the vegan junk food and don’t binge snack after dinner. Probably cuz I’m getting all my nutrients and stuff. You could try that. Maybe it’ll help with your binge eating

I listen to this and it's listening to how I act with some foods. The oak cluster thing yep I'd be eating all them after I just baked them. I have never been the person who has one or two cookies puts it away and not have any more until 2-3 days later. Nope they're always on my mind if they're in the house. Buying junk food of any sort I cannot do that. Sitting within the day and eating the whole bag of chips yes it's me. So many things that you've described about yourself are mirrored in me. During the summer I did try the no oil diet. I didn't really miss it but somehow it crept back into my cooking. The new year is coming and I do want to make the ultimate adjustment in my diet to be oil-free. The supplements you take B12 I take vitamin d as I'm in Connecticut. It all depends how much your subscription is maybe I'll join. Unfortunately because of covid I'm still unemployed.

I have FINALLY cut out ALL oils at home. And I am noticing how much better I feel. Of course dining out it’s pretty much unavoidable... but I eat out pretty infrequent anymore... so that is a good thing. Still I have got to cut out dried fruits (aka oat clusters) if I ever want to lose this last 10 pounds!!! 🙄
