Journey can never replace him. They can only find wannabes,without real charisma and stage presence. Steve has it all. Above all his beautiful one of a kind voice. A genuine treasure.
Steve was replaced as he was exhausted, his vocal cords were inflamed badly. The first replacement was Arnel Pineda…a Filipino who Journey found on a video. Here in Hawaii we have MANY GREAT Filipino and Filipina entertainers. You might have heard our homie Bruno Mars. Hapa (half) Filipino and German…IOW 100% Hawaiian!!
To think Steve fell madly in love like never before about 12 years ago with Kellie Nash and she passed away from breast cancer after being together for only 18 months. He is still deeply touched by her and he promised her to not stay in seclusion if she were to pass away. Sad to think their love story was so short but what an impact she made on him. He was blessed with an angelic voice that he shared with the world and we have enjoyed it for 40 plus years. Thanks for sharing.

He said Sherrie was one of them. Steve was with another woman at the time, Robin. He said he decided that, even though he can't go back, it was still okay to miss her. That's where the inspiration for this song came from.

there's a bit of blues quality to his voice, with a lot of emotion. i think that a lot of people can relate to his voice and songs, because of that. michael jackson does have a quality to his voice captivates you too. his voice and singing voice is probably more pop and r&b. i've always enjoyed listening to michael jackson. even as a kid back in the early 1970's. i was somewhat saddened when the jackson 5 broke up. i kinda knew that mike was going to eventually be a solo artist. i was about 8 or 9 when the jackson 5 broke up. i turned 10 in 1974.

He is on credits but he did not write Oh Sherrie. Randy Goodrum wrote it about someone he knew and they fit her name in. He also wrote Foolish Heart.
