GREAT bunch of pick-ups! For me, nothing better than silver age, pre-hero or post, Marvel's! Love them! That Tales to Astonish 82 has one of the greatest action sequences by Kirby ever I think. He took over for an ill Gene Colan mid-way through that issue. Those prices sounded very fair to me, especially the pre-hero comics. Nice books.
It's a great idea, I wouldn't doubt if someone out there has done this for their favorite artist(s). I actually liked the fact that the copy of the Index that I had was marked up by the previous owner tracking what they had collected. Thanks for watching!
Rob's closing the store?!? Is it official? We've been frequenting his place for over 35 years. That will truely be a sad day 😢. I think we can both agree that over the years, Rob has become more than just the owner of our lcs. He's become a dear friend. I wish him nothing but the best. I'll have to get down there to see him soon. We need to arrange to all get together for dinner and a few beers. Will's brought it up a few times. I think it's time.
Never say never, but this time it feels like the real thing. His family is asking him to close up shop, and although he's thought about closing before, it makes more sense now as costs are just too high to keep the store running. I'm hoping he'll keep the doors open longer and maybe run the store part-time, but it's been a tough number of years.
Very tough in Fine or better at a reasonable price! Thanks for subbing and commenting, it looks like we have very similar comic book collecting tastes!
He's closing his doors, but will be open on Saturdays for a half day while he moves stuff out and around. I imagine it'll take a month or so to get stuff sorted out. At least I'll be able to go by once more!
There is nothing wrong with picking up a lower grade silver grade comic. They are not making them anymore. Plus the more of these books are picked up and put away the longer the history of comic books will live on.
Absolutely! I've been a high grade snob for many years, and as a result, I passed on many books I should have picked up, especially anything pre-1965. Actually, for those pre-hero monster books, I don't mind beat-up copies as they've been 'enjoyed' thoroughly.
@@raph-retro-comics same here. Now that I am looking at being 50 myself, all the roughness of a low grade comic just tells the story of that given book.

I try to restrain myself when buying, but there's just stuff that's hard to pass up on! Thanks for watching!
I think you found some Gems, and at a great price.
It seems now is a good time to buy, but I wonder if prices will continue to soften for a little while. Thanks for watching!
@@raph-retro-comics Unfortunately I'm unemployed right now, but I was finding great prices on Silver Age book's, you just have to be patient.
All the issues you got are good, but the exceptional one is the early doctor strange 😂❤
Early Ditko Dr. Strange are hard to get in nice shape. Very happy with this one!
Great pick ups. I like the idea of an Artist Index. So many great cover and interior artists these days.

awesome haul my friend 😁💯
Thanks for watching Rohn! I was happy with my purchases that day.
Nice "show and tell", Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #12, with its surreal Salvador Dali like cover art, a Steranko favorite.
Steranko was way ahead of his time in the 1960s, and it's still amazing to go back and look at the work that he did.

That Human Torch material (I think there were a few Thing appearances in there as well) is sooo hard to find, or it has been for me.

I think Excalibur will be open until the end of August, and probably part time hours in September. Hope you make it out there!
Great haul. You really can't go wrong collecting silver age Marvel books. You should be proud and thanks for sharing.
P.S. Did he keep his store open?
