Been in magic for over 40 years and worked with some of the best minds in magic from Weber, Regal, etc to put 7 seasons of the Carbonaro Effect on tv. Yet I have never seen anything like this. And we did some incredible magic on that show. I am clueless as to how this works. Amazing that I can be fooled after all these years. Thanks for giving me that feeling of seeing magic again.
I have idea how he made it and i wrote my theory but i deleted it because i remembered something Dave Chappelle said in his standup - "Taking a man's livelihood away from him is akin to killing him". So i don't want to potentially ruin his trick for him because not knowing how its done makes it magical for others and makes them happy. Hope he keeps up good work and he has great time doing.
This has been my favorite act in all eight seasons. Very enjoyable to see a real person that dedicated themselves to the craft at 40 and isn't all showbiz and over the top about everything.
@@markdoetsch9097 Yeah, I second What Otis is saying. I just came here to Write a complement about the Magician in the video, turns out it is You! haha! Great Work Mate. Really Enjoyed your Work.
I'm with Penn. It's just so nice to see a trick, just the trick, pure and simple. No big presentation, no music, no pomp, just the trick speaking for itself. Also beautiful and sympathic presentation, like a favorite uncle waving you over "hey, I'm gonna show you something cool".
So many tricks _have_ to include a plot because the actual trick is too trivial/commonplace, like a force or using a thumb writer. If you were to just do such a trick with no performance, it'd be pretty boring. This trick needs no fancy presentation because it stands on its own as intriguing and mind blowing as it is unique.
I like that Teller always tries to check props after the performance always glimpse an eye to learn the trick. And for Mark performance, it was as Penn said. No band is needed for great entertainment.
One of the best illusions I've ever seen and I've been into magic since I was a boy in the 70s. I can usually work out how a trick is done but this one totally baffles me, which is great. Because it brings back that feeling I remember from all those years ago when I was a boy!
I spent 20 years in live special effects sometimes in the capacity of helping magicians. I somewhat disliked working with stage magicians (Vegas headliners) because it ruined some magic for me; I prefer to stay in awe and work out in my head how tricks are performed. Mark, I gotta hand it to ya! Your presentation was phenomenally honest and indeed welcome in the age of flash and circumstance. HOWEVER, I am totally blown away by the X Candle trick… Can’t figure it out either…. Thanks for keeping magic real! I’d love to see your show one day!
A fellow performer here Mark, and I have so much good to say about this, it's going to have to be a list! - first of all, what a lovely energy you have - so personable, and so obviously enjoying the magic yourself. There's no better place to start a magic trick than with a likeable, enthusiastic performer. - secondly, I love original magic. I've never seen this before, and it's Xcellent (HoHo!). - also, like P&T, I love the clear, crisp presentation. No fluff, just fun! I think that should be the slogan on your business card! Thank you Mark for making my day with this perfect presentation. I'm over the moon that you won a trophy!
I think Mark has a small gas or liquid fuel line running up thru the table with a foot switch under the table that allows a flame that burns at normal temperature until he steps on the pedal and then another fuel comes in and ignites and burns at a cooler temperature. ...Just have to figure out the compounds he is using...Awesome trick Mark!
This was such a good performance, no nonsense, so genuine and to the point. One of my favorites on the show, and am so glad you fooled them. well done.
To describe this I can only think on the old phrase "there is beauty in simplicity". Don't get me wrong I don't think the trick is simple, but the way it is presented, so simple, straight forward and smooth is just beautiful. I felt like a kid in awe watching this. Thank you Sr!
At the beginning I was like oh an x on the hand no big deal and then oh my god the rest of the trick had me completely surprised and stumped. Nicely done!
I watched you tonight on the CW. You were great. One of my favorite acts that I’ve ever seen on the show. And Penn was right, your no-frills, down to earth style is a breath of fresh air.
As a fellow Mark I am so glad you did this. You've shown me that not only do I have time to work on my magic while doing other things, that it's never too late, but that with passion and drive you can even fool two magicians who have been doing it for years. You are amazing, thank you.
Wow! I watch a lot of magic and usually even if I don't know how it's done, I have an idea, or a direction of thought. With this one, I am truly clueless. I honestly don't have the faintest idea how this was done. Congratulations on winning the trophy, well deserved. I also like that you are just a regular guy doing magic, and not a "showman".
Mark, I found your channel and had to watch you because i met your daughter in our freshman year of college and because who doesn't love magic? Excellent performance, very impressive!! So happy that you got the trophy! Willing to bet that you and your family are proud! Well deserved! ❤😊
I hope as I approach your age I bring that same lovable energy to my performances. I loved this entire thing... and it baffled me beyond comprehension. Put a genuine smile on my face... amazing!
This is by far the best magic trick I've ever seen, there is no complicity but it gives you the feeling that this man is a wizard or has connections with the ancestors.
I don’t even know where begin with this. As a performer myself I can only say with all that is going on here with the simplicity and storytelling I’m totally amazed to my core. Having the pleasure of knowing Mark for only a short time and sharing techniques with him and magic theories I’m totally inspired when I see such a beautiful presentation. Hats off to you Mark. Keep up the original thinking.
Yeah what a great trick @Mark! I think the same as Penn, no blah blah, no superfluous details and pretty straight forward trick! The world of magic does not have enough people like you! Some would say of a lack of personality. On the contrary, authenticity always looks much better! Well done!
Me encantó
I always love how Teller has this desperate desire to know how the trick is done. After almost every time he is fooled, he walks up, takes the trophy, hands it over and his head INSTANTLY swivels to where the trick was done to learn more about it xD
Very nice trick and very nice presentation, nearly spooky. It got me fooled, and I'm not surprised that P&T couldn't figure out, they never played with fire in that way. Great win, Mark, well done!
This was really cool, one of my favourite tricks on the show. I watched your other couple videos and am a fan. I hope you post more of your tricks, I'd like to see stuff from your hundred day magic project. That sounds fascinating.
As some of the comments already said, it's really great to see someone pick up magic later in life and be so passionate about it, you can really tell you are having as much fun (if not more) as anyone else, and a great trick to boot, passing the x to alysson got me fooled real early
I’m dumbfounded, this was incredible. Iv seen nearly every penn and teller fool us and feel that Iv gotten fairly hard to fool as a result. I don’t even have a guess on this one 😂 Well done 😁
Great performance and great personality Marc =) never saw a magic trick like that. I almost believe that the power of x is as sure as the water boils at 100 °C =)
Strange sound. Thought my tv was on the blink, but I didn’t blink through the trick and it was the most amazing magic I’ve ever seen. The decision to involve Alyson was scary and Teller looked very concerned. The decision to bring down her unprotected hand so Alyson could confirm the heat was a master stroke. Of all the tricks I’ve seen in the series which appeared impossible, THIS appears to be the most impossible of them all.
I don't know weather this is one of the most unusual magic effects I've seen, or he's the the smoothest hypnotist I've seen. cause I've seen hypnotists do this kind of effect, but never like this. Just saying you can put your hand in the fire and not get burnt, without any pretence of trance or control. Either way that was one hell of a trick

That really means a lot to me!
Chad is a legend!!!

Holy cow! Chad Sanborn!!!
As someone that mostly watches these online, I really like when people that fooled them don't spoil the ending in their video title. Double bravo!
100% this.
This has been my favorite act in all eight seasons. Very enjoyable to see a real person that dedicated themselves to the craft at 40 and isn't all showbiz and over the top about everything.

The clincher was, after the trophy, Teller putting his hand over the candle and flinching. Great performance.
I like that Teller always tries to check props after the performance always glimpse an eye to learn the trick. And for Mark performance, it was as Penn said. No band is needed for great entertainment.
He did it twice, too lmao

I was there at a bar when I saw this on live tv with mark there in person! He brought a trophy

02:40, he already fooled them

That is the most unique trick I have ever seen on this show. It deserves to be a fooler.
This was such a good performance, no nonsense, so genuine and to the point. One of my favorites on the show, and am so glad you fooled them. well done.
Great stuff, Mark. It is so nice to see something simple yet astonishing and totally original! Love that you came on this show.
Way to go Mark, not only did you get on Fool Us, but you fooled Penn & Teller! Nice job.

This was so beautiful, love how simple it is yet I have no idea as to how it can be done. Also props for not spoiling the outcome in the title, A+.
Awesome presentation! Tricky candle for sure.
* I would have like to see the candle removed from the table and then put into his hand at the end.
I'm usually good at spotting how most tricks are done but this completely stumps me! Bravo brotha!!
I watched you tonight on the CW. You were great. One of my favorite acts that I’ve ever seen on the show. And Penn was right, your no-frills, down to earth style is a breath of fresh air.
Thanks so much Jason!
I really appreciate it!
This is one of my favorite magic tricks I've ever seen. I am absolutely in awe over it.
One of my favorite acceptances ever. Humble and real

How? This trick was amazing! I also like that YOU hardly do anything but Alison did. Making it even harder to pull the trick. Crazy!
Just incredible, loved magic since I was a kid in the 1960s and I have to say this is one of the most amazing, simple, confounding tricks I’ve seen!
Thank You so Much!

This act has really good pacing and storytelling. I love the cleanliness of it all. This is masterful.

What a beautiful trick! Love it, and love your gentle presentation. :)

Original, no fluff, entertaining - you are great sir!

Amaaaaazing trick and this guy reminds me of the old good days .. he gave me 90’s 80’s vibes ❤❤

Such a nice, simple, visual trick and well performed.
Magical. Made me feel like a kid again. Just fantastic.
Very original! I’m in awe. Loved it.
you are my new favorite magician, hope you post more content, big fan now
Impressed! Loved the performane
Omg, it is a real magic for me. Even transferring X to Allison is impressive and what happened next has made me speechless.
Just a simple OLD school magic.
Loved it

I can't imagine how that is done.
My only guess would be science... But really impressive, congrats!
I get 90% of the routines on FU and have a pretty good idea of 8% more. This is one that I have absolutely no idea how you did that. Awesome job 👍🏼
That was incredible!
😂 ❤️
Oopsie. Those tears of laughter could just put that flame out.
😁 🎉
Amazing performance! Loved it!
Apart from the sound coming out of a tin can, apparently, this was a neat little trick.
No nonsense, great stuff!
I love that Teller put his hand over the flame at the end.
In all Alyson Hannigan's time on the show, a Top-10 moment has to be one simple word
Penn: "Do you think he fooled us?"
Alyson: "Yeah."
that was more than fascinating
What a wonderful, mystical illusion -- bravo !!!!!!!
Congrats, man. Thats quite an achievement.
Dont even know how x travels to Alison's hand, what an awesome performance
I really enjoyed this! Amazing performance! I really like to know how this works, but it has to be a sectet I guess. Such a wonderful trick! 😎
This is one of the best for me
Great performance 👏

I just love the fact that teller put his hand 🖐️ at first and then put it again just to prove it even getting burn at first.
You can tell teller really enjoyed this lol
Simply amazing!
I love Teller's face in all of this. He never gets the "WTF?" look out of his face.
Incredible trick. Congratulations!
This was a fun watch, "X"tremely good magic!
Very likable. Great job!
