To be absolutely fair. We were given a prime angle and a close up. It's sort of hard to have your senses redirected by a magician when the camera starts shoving it in your face. Especially with this trick in particular. The camera was definitely not kind to this one.
What nobody is getting is that the gross-out factor is _part_ of the misdirection. What's great about this is he makes the load-in immediately after making a joke. You're mind is in the process of understanding and laughing at the joke that it doesn't focus on the split second he makes the obvious move. It's the classic misdirect.

this is such a good trick for experience magicians - so so very simple, and he knew it would work because the nature of the show. so many people there are incredibly skilled enough to trick penn and teller with pure trickery, while chris just did a performance with such simplicity and believability that youd miss it the first time and anyone could overthink it
Perhaps it is the simplest of tricks that fool the masters as they are looking for the clever and the mundane passed over their eyes. Perhaps that was the biggest bluff of all.
Chris was too smooth with the presentation. The timing of where it falls in the routine is perfect. Right after they lost, so their guard is down. Incredible stuff!
While Teller is standing beside him, you can watch his eyes looking him up and down watching every little movement. That alone is fascinating to watch.
It took me FIVE rewatches to catch the cookie trick. FIVE! The fact that it was so obvious took BALLS and an insane amount of confidence in your natural poise and demeanour, which is well deserved, considering that Teller didn't even catch it, he was right next to you! Bravo dude, genuinely, that was well done
The trouble is that the trick comes in so early in the setup, and unless you know what he intends to do, there's no way you're looking for it. The trick is set up to misdirect from the actual structure of the trick.

One of the best parts of this is Teller not even raising an eyebrow at the suddenly flaming wallet. Almost like he expects wallets to do that every time.
I mean, it's a pretty straightforward magic shop gimmick, isn't it? Wouldn't be surprised to see a display selling them two for one as soon as you walk in the door. Wow! He got lucky Penn wasn't looking when he did the misdirection part. I get why Alison and Teller wouldn't noticed but he's very lucky Penn missed it. Watching it on video it's easy to tell but in person I'm sure it's tough. Love seeing such a simple trick, executed well, fool them!
The trick is that he tells them the game is over, so Teller pays less attention for a short moment. Also the trick is so absurd, that the way he did it would not even register to Teller as an attempt at a sleight, but simply doing what is a perfectly reasonable thing to do in such a situation, after having spat out milk. Teller totally saw him doing the sleight, it just didn't register at all.
People complain about this? Sorry but that move is utterly superb and so natural, and Teller is looking right at him when he does it and he still doesn't see it! Bravo!
It was so egregiously obvious (on rewatch), yet they completely failed to register it because he tricked them into not expecting it Legit fooled them like kids with the simplest misdirection & sleight
Nice! Te move he used to load the cookie is so obvious and simple so they didn't even thought about it. Nicely done! Sometimes the simplest way is the best.
They thought about it. They know exactly how it's done it was their second guess but they only have one. A lot of magician uses red herring which made them overthink and guess wrong.
James Wilcox Yeah, that's what I was thinking! That took guts!!! So did risking the cash, since there was always the possibility that either one would catch on, and spit out both the milk and cookie! Talk about taking chances he never needed to take!
Imagine the faces of the other foolers when they see that this magician used such a simple technique in such a clever manner to fool P&T. But hey, a fooler is a fooler whether it’s a simple or complex trick. Good job sir! 👏
Yes, I watched it again, and it's the simplest thing in the world. I think of those other guys who practice their insane card tricks to try to fool P & T and, well, let's say tidying up was all that was needed.
Beautiful misdirection. Impressed that penn was Distracted for being far enough to see what he was doing with his hands and everything else he was doing
People in the comments that aren’t excited or happy for such a cool trick are people you shouldn’t invest time in. He fooled them, name of the game. It was a fun trick and he had a lot of skill to pull it off. Smile my guy, life is pretty cool
5:08 When he said "I'm sorry you just lost" He literally mean it cause that was when they, the whole audience and we all actually lost what he did😂 That was hell of a misdirection did in a brilliant way🔥
Why is this trick getting hate in the comments?? This is one of my all-time favorite Fool Us performances - the method may not be technically complicated, but the routine is *tons* of fun and it beautifully shows how even a simple method when performed with perfect timing and misdirection can fool even the best of the best. Amazing stuff, Chris Rose.
Smart and elegant in its simplicity. The brilliance of the false end of the the trick when teller fails to spit out the milk and lose $100 such that he lets his guard down and misses the 'load' was wonderful. The false ending shows very nicely how to manipulate the psychology of 'vigilance' so that simple sleights can be performed. Congrats!!
Yeah as soon as i looked back i saw it and it was very obvious, but that required me already knowing he was going to do that. First time i completely missed it. More psychology than slightly of hand
Everyone saying the load was obvious, the trick was easy... That's the point of magic being in ROUTINES. Any trick, standalone, would have been even more obvious and totally absent of fun. But because the audience and assistants got caught up in the act, they were fooled by the performance, not by the trick itself, because it's not about the trick itself. Chris himself says his magic is fun and childish, which was his biggest hint. He hid the trick within play. The game of it is what fooled them. And if any part fools them, Penn and Teller consider it a Fool. Deceptively simply and simply deceptive - that's both the fun and the beauty of this act. Good show!
But it's not a good routine if you spot the trick as it's happening. The load came off like unpracticed. He cheated toward Teller and his mouth opened before he covered... If Teller didn't catch the flash, he must have been seeing something completely different.
In my experience the more simple the trick, the more skilled the magician has to be. Anyone can pull off a forced card trick, this required lots of skill!
His biggest act of brilliance was to bring Teller up on stage. Penn's problem is he loves to get caught up in the story, and Teller would have absolutely caught that load.
Teller is too kind. He drank all milk just to act like a regular audience member, but I'm sure he knew the magician would spit out the milk.

Matt L... that’s GREAT!! I’m so happy to hear you’ve been inspired. If you’d like to chat more about magic and if there is anything I can do to help you along your journey please get me your contact info via an email... Chris@ChrisRoseMagic.com.
Much love in return. CR
It's so simple but the misdirection was perfect.
Teller was looking right at him when he loaded the cookie... and he still fooled Penn and Teller!
Teller must have noticed it and thought it was a red herring.
@@praevasc4299 possibly
When you only get to watch it once it’s very hard to see but when you watch it a second time you see it right away.
You realize on the second watch what is coming, and that's there's very little opportunity to slip in the cookie.
I love how excited teller gets
Bravo!
so simple yet they didn't catch it! love it!
I think Pen and Teller are so focused on seeing something complex that they forget to look at the simplest moves in magic
The guy also seems so well mannered, so him doing what he did kinda seemed normal and "aside from the trick".
This guy makes me happy. He's what I want to be when I'm a full grown adult
There are times when I feel like I haven't made it to "full grown adult" status yet.
Penn and Teller must have felt quite embarrassed when they watched this back
It was so egregiously obvious (on rewatch), yet they completely failed to register it because he tricked them into not expecting it
Legit fooled them like kids with the simplest misdirection & sleight
I'm sure they did
nah they just wanted him to perform for them in vegas , they liked his act
This is one of the purest examples of "simple, but effective" 👏
Once the milk is spit out, everyone thinks the trick is over. Then, no one is looking for the other shoe to drop.
It helps that he joked and made everyone laugh. Total defuse.
What you did to hide it was pretty sneaky, and polite.
honestly im more impressed by the nail
I like the look on Teller's face when he grabs the last cookie - "It's dry!!" Ah, when simple magic fools legends...
I feel like he was truly surprised that they didn’t catch him. Great act!
Nice! Te move he used to load the cookie is so obvious and simple so they didn't even thought about it. Nicely done! Sometimes the simplest way is the best.
They thought about it. They know exactly how it's done it was their second guess but they only have one. A lot of magician uses red herring which made them overthink and guess wrong.
yes true.....
How did he do it? I can't see it😔😔
Brilliant move right in front of Teller, looking right at the trick! Genius!
I think of those other guys who practice their insane card tricks to try to fool P & T and, well, let's say tidying up was all that was needed.
can u tell me how?
@@davidg5423 If you still haven't figured it out, let's say he did the cleanup before the load this time.
Perfect distraction!!! I'm guessing Penn & Teller have already kicked themselves to death after rewatching this lol...great performance!!
"How skilled are u with your mouth" Alison: "should we call up your wife"
LMAO It was slight of hand but it was so well performed they missed it.
I was half expecting Teller to spit out some milk too and be like " what bitch" LOL
Lolllll but not the cookie xD
I was hoping he would. That would have been great!
5:08 When he said "I'm sorry you just lost"
He literally mean it cause that was when they, the whole audience and we all actually lost what he did😂
That was hell of a misdirection did in a brilliant way🔥
Good catch. Looking for it it's obvious, but I didn't at the time.
Very simple and perfectly executed. The use of props was excellent and the misdirection brilliant. How they missed it is the real challenge.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a fun experience.
Hahahahaha, they were expecting a much sneakier trick! And Teller was looking right at you too. Beautifully done.
The simplicity is the beauty of it, it was executed so naturally!
Holy shit. It was too obvious to even realize. Why didn't I see that the first time.
Once you see it, it's totally in your face, but so nicely executed that you miss it.
This is still one of my favorite tricks ever on this show. The sheer courage to pull that off right in front of Teller is legendary!
Haha they probably felt very fooled when they saw the footage
So easy to spot when you watch it back
The load is obvious in retrospect, but the first time through, I didn't notice at all
It was so simple and obvious, they looked it over and couldn't figure it out. It's maybe the most brilliant trick on this show
This was an extremely simple trick, but well executed
Yes
Smart and elegant in its simplicity. The brilliance of the false end of the the trick when teller fails to spit out the milk and lose $100 such that he lets his guard down and misses the 'load' was wonderful. The false ending shows very nicely how to manipulate the psychology of 'vigilance' so that simple sleights can be performed. Congrats!!
Yeah as soon as i looked back i saw it and it was very obvious, but that required me already knowing he was going to do that. First time i completely missed it. More psychology than slightly of hand
This was actually so brilliant , the misdirection is so perfect .
This is fake. There is no way any human can place an oreo inside their mouth and not eat it.
Lmfao
He did eat that.
Lee Anderson
He did eat it
he obviously had another cookie
I cannot eat oreos 😔
One way of beating someone smart is to do something so simple he will almost always overlook! Pretty clever I love it! XD
Spazzsticks it was a pretty cleaver, indeed
Abrahim Hussain damn! Hahaha i did not notice. I wrote that on mobile. I wasn't referring to a freaking butcher's knife! Hahaha
Can one of you message me cause I've watched it about 5 times and only have one theory but it doesn't feel correct.
When you rewatch it, it's so obvious, but that's the key, you don't watch the trick more than once.
The genius is how simply it really is.
My hat is off to you sir.
In my experience the more simple the trick, the more skilled the magician has to be. Anyone can pull off a forced card trick, this required lots of skill!
The simplest slight of hand but a nice distraction
Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one. I imagine P&T were kicking themselves after realizing how simply it was performed. Well done!
His biggest act of brilliance was to bring Teller up on stage. Penn's problem is he loves to get caught up in the story, and Teller would have absolutely caught that load.
I spoke with Teller afterwards and he asked me to confirm his theory and responded “your misdirection was perfect”. That made my day.
Wow I can't believe he got away with that move! Talk about ballsy.
Total surprise for me too. I wasn’t expecting to fool them.
