      @therealhumanguineapig7537 3 года назад +17

      Not for sure, but I think I suspect how he did it. Secret compartment in back of loveseat so he basically rolls thru out the back easily when couch is first closed and he is concealed, then he slips his hand out from a secret sleeve in the "straightjacket" while still having hands and arms behind back, to throw the cereal, keys, etc... As soon as the slow hand pulls in and the "EMT" comes out, he simply ducks behind the cardboard box barricade used as stage dressing and runs to the left behind stage to pop out from boxes on the right. Anywhere near close?

      @@shush665 Yeah I can see everything else, but apparently you gotta reach the reappearing side moving on plain sight, but there might be something that was cut off on edit.
      Also there is something about the rules that I am not sure about, for me Alyson must have seen him escaping the couch inmediately, and maybe also the double behind.
      There is one other option though, and that is that he is behind the couch all the time and he has a real twin

    • @stephenallen6148
      @stephenallen6148 2 года назад +90

      I think that “double action” was referring to the fact that the couch is most likely a cloning machine.
      The Jonathan that appears from the side stage is a clone, and, the old Jonathan gets dropped behind the couch into a water tank to drown.
      There was a trick like this in The Prestige. That’s how the method was explained in the movie.

    You'd think after all these years that Alison would learn how to not give it away when she sees something, like when she turns her head when the back of the couch opens up.

    This was an absolutely fantastic act. I figured Penn & Teller wouldn't be fooled because there are only so many ways one can escape from a straightjacket, but just look at their reactions. That is pure joy on the faces of people who have seen so many acts, you'd think they'd be numb to it all.

    -He was already gone out the back of the sofa by time they were folding it back up.
    -All those boxes act as a wall so he can get backstage unseen.
    -He re-enters from side stage while you are watching a double do the hand stuff in the cushions.

    4:13 you can see the boxes behind the coach arent a solid facing wall so he can escape through them without being seen and the coach is hollowed behind the back cushions the assistant kind blows it when watching him do it. Also at 4:32 look at left side where the blanket meets the coach you can see the light shoot through the back for split second

    Once again, absolutely hilarious, I love comedy/magic like this, so many magicians come on the show with card/coin tricks and they're fun enough, some really mind boggling but there's only so many you can watch before they all become samey samey, I love it when magicians go on with big props, and set ups and do something different, it's just so damn entertaining to watch.
