Seeing how you became emotional when you fooled them made me emotional. I'm shedding tears, because it was so touching. It shows how much your mentor meant to you. To be inspired so much by someone, and then to honour them with such a flawless routine, it was beautiful
I'm an amateur enthusiast. Studied under Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell at the Magic Castle back in 2014-2015 and saw many, many performances there. What I realized over time is that there's a kind of magic that is disappointing when you know the secret gimmick, and then there is your kind of magic- the kind where it doesn't matter if you know the secret, because of the hard work and skill required to carry it off so well. A regular audience might not be able to tell the difference, but anyone who knows a bit about magic will understand why it's simply a joy to watch you execute those moves so well. Truly mesmerizing. And sharing your trophy with your teacher in heaven brought a tear to my eye, made me think about my teacher Mark Wilson who died several years ago. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Watch how he picks up the box to set it back on the table . one hand goes inside the big box. That's how he lifted it up on the little table. The rings were already dropped into the small box and never inside the napkins to start. I had to go back and rematch it to see though. Excellent work.
@@OneOut1 I did the same. The fact that, like P&T I was following every perfect move and still didn't see how the big reveal was achieved and had the same reaction to Zed just shows how perfect the misdirection, pacing, and timing was! re-watching and seeing anything new will never take away from that fact!
Yup, I felt like I was following so much of this trick but then the box showed up and I just yelled “OH FUCK OFF” at my monitor. What an amazing performance.
I immediately started bawling my eyes out when I realized Penn was gonna say you fooled them. So overcome with happiness! You are amazing and I'm sure Slydini is smiling down upon you!
That was precisely what I except from a magic trick. Simple premise, smooth execution, sincere delivery and, most importantly, pure skill. No special effects, lights, loud music, elaborate inventions, but just the viewer, the magician, and the trick. This was a wonderful routine!
You know what I've just realized? Penn and Teller are the most brilliant magicians of all time. Oh, but not for obvious reasons, no. They invented a show that basically lets them be actual spectators in a magic act, again. If you are a Magician, even though you're doing what you love, there comes a time, like it did for them, where even though skill can be impressive, you really do know how most things are done. So they dared all magicians in the world to fool them. What a fantastic way to be a child again.
There's another reason they're the greatest magicians. They've achieved success beyond what any two magicians could ever dream. At this point, they and Copperfield are just racking up the score boards for currently living magicians. And they decided to take their success and spread the wealth, introducing the world to so many great magicians through this show.

A fellow magician here and, if I may call you Tony, can I just say that your performance was outstanding. 42 years of interest in magic, every performance I've seen, the concepts I've learnt and applied, all that effort was worthwhile to be able to appreciate the level of your skill. Tony, you are without doubt the most deserving trophy winner I've seen. I have tears in my eyes from understanding all the hard work, the years and YEARS of dedication to get to your level, yet what a quietly accomplished, modest gentleman you are. Well done brother, well done!
do you expect it is a fake box? So the lid can be closed and a ribbon already around it but the rings can still go in through the flap on the end? Would he likely have a 4th fake ring to pretend to drop in the big box? or how does the ring he held get in the closed box tied with a ribbon?
Surely he is sweeping the rings off the table and in to the little box which is hanging on back of the table, then sneaking the little box in at the time you showed
Amazing performance, 4:25 is when the box was put in, it did not fall off because it was pushed against the bottomless box with his hand when all were lifted and set on the tray.

Penn and Teller are great guys. Met them a couple times (just for a couple minutes each time, while in Vegas). I saw the guy put the little box in the big box from behind the table. But, how did he get the rings in there?
You can see his right hand drop to the table each time his left is doing a flourishy “look, the napkin is disappearing!” misdirection. I only saw it because of reversing video…I’m not that skilled lol
This is one of those tricks thats embarrassingly simple and as Penn implied 'easy' to do, but very hard to do convincingly. This routine is more about confidence than the actual moves. It shouldn't surprise anyone that just about my favorite magic routine of all time, is Slydini's Balls.
I cried right along with you at the end. Touching, and beautiful. I'm getting back into magic after a 25-year hiatus. I saw you on TV sometime back in the 90s, so wonderful to see your evolution since then. Keep up the phenomenal work, a great inspiration!

@@KTHKUHNKK Was quite obsessed with magic in boyhood/teens, but stopped performing as I focused on music. But the study of magic has influenced everything I do. The contest I won that I mentioned above was for a new instrument I invented called the Infinitone "the saxophone of the future", I think all my study of coordination and integration of ideas from magic helped me with it (you can see at my website if you want, infinitonic.com, I am involved in creating music with the complete harmonic spectrum, not merely the 12 notes on western instruments). My son recently had his 5 year old birthday party, one of the children requested magic tricks. Much to my surprise I found myself doing a whole show, the kids (and parents!) were laughing and entertained the whole time. Now I am back investigating what is going on in the magic world these days, and I am BLOWN AWAY by the innovation and creativity that has gone on in the last 20 years I have missed. Performances like this one, by the magnificent Tony Clark, seal the deal for me. I'm getting back to magic, and I want to integrate magic performance and my musical innovations into something new.

Real men cry
@@KTHKUHNKK I suppose that makes me a real man then! I think I could relate because I won a contest a few years ago with something I put my whole heart and soul into, I cried when I got the first prize. I was clear Tony put everything he had into this performance, I know why it moved him at the end.... what that takes in life.

Congratulations
You are a real man no kidding.
I don't do magic but I do know Talent.
Do you do magic ?

It's not often that something tugs at my heartstrings but that man and his performance did. Great show!
I am glad you liked it.
This is a beautiful moment of magic. Very emotional to watch. Thank you for that, and congratulation for the huge work, trophy well deserved :O
Thank you!
Genuinely moved to tears here.
Yeah, just like P&T, there were a couple of small things I thought I noticed. Then I saw the little box, and I almost passed out. It's even better that I thought I knew where it was going, and then it was like a train knocked me over.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful routine, and it shone through so strongly that it was motivated by gratitude. :)
Your story is an inspiration to everyone going through tough times, and your performance was amazing.
Thank you!
I teared up - wonderful talent, wonderful tribute
Thank you!
