    I loved being a 70s kid, flared trousers, wide collars and out all day, snotty-nosed, chasing girls & getting shouted in for your tea, 3 channels if you're lucky and no remote, sun too hot in '76, and look what I can get with 2p !! The Beano and The Dandy, top of the pops on a Thursday, bring the milk in son, maa the birds have drank the cream! just a few small memories when growing up in England's pleasant green lands.

      Don’t for get the school uniforms we had to wear, shorts blazers knee high socks n black shoes…..throughout the school year….no matter what the weather was…

      @@stephenwalters7543 I remember wearing those grey shorts at my junior school that I used to have to wear as a cub scout too. Long grey socks. And when my mum took me to the local shop that did the cub scout uniforms I distinctly remember the owner measuring my head for the cap and him saying "You have a big head. I think I have some extra big caps out the back." It's just something I always remember with a smile...

    The greatest part of the brain is memory, but the worst thing that comes from memory is nostalgia, we remember but we can never go back! So very sad when looking at things like this. Where has time gone?

    • @trippy2johno280
      @trippy2johno280 6 лет назад

      it is sad I agree, it's a time when I remember having no concept of money, feeling low, anxiety, boredom, a shit 9 to 5 existence and the general fucked up horrors of adulthood. it was a good time to be a kid back then, way better than today. but like you say, where did the time go?!!

      Remember that..being chucked out in the morning to 'get some sun on you' and not to come back til sundown? And now, the kids cant cross the road to the same park I played in, although there isnt any difference...in fact, its safer because of the Offenders Register...there always used to be a weirdo about but we knew how to look after ourselves.

    So glad you've uploaded these lol, I've paused it only a few seconds in because Mary Mongo and Midge or whatever was literally my earliest childhood memory of the TV about 1.30pm along with Bagpuss lol.
    See if you can find the "Do you know where your lads going tonight" commercial as he left the house tooled up with those 70's checked lumberjackets on lol.
    In fact one about the clothes of the day would be good, "bags" those damn trousers with pockets on your ankles, 3 star jumpers, the six million dollar man t shirts that charged colour on the transfer as well as the later heat transfer t shirts.

    That closedown at the end was TV One in New Zealand! Very cool for me as a Kiwi (and I remember quite a few of those shows, though there were some British ones that didn't make it here). Mike Bodner (or Bodnar) was a NZ broadcaster.

      You're correct it was a production oversight. Thanks for your comment though 🙂

      David Brown, I agree with you. the 60's 70's and 80's were the golden age of films, TV and pop songs, terrible now !!

    Just loved how He-Man was explaining how he got his powers by picking up his sword and saying... (jumps into another intro of a tv show( Lol)) Rupert Rupert the bear... Didnt have a clue that He -Man really obtained them that way.

    Sooooo many happy memories for this 47 year old. I still find the themes from Black Beauty and Rupert quite moving. I have watched all 5 compilations. Compare this lot with the rubbish that's on now!!!! Teletubbies or Banana Splitz, which would you rather watch? Have tried getting my young nephew to watch Chigley and failed dismally. Nice to see Barnaby the Bear, none of my friends remembered him until I showed them this.
    No Red Hand Gang or Gideon? Then there were those East European cartoons like the Mole.
