The Beano and The Dandy, top of the pops on a Thursday, bring the milk in son, maa the birds have drank the cream! just a few small memories when growing up in England's pleasant green lands.
And we were so happy innocent despite not having luxuries, we only had one channel and in black and white, no stress like today , blessed to be born then

it is sad I agree, it's a time when I remember having no concept of money, feeling low, anxiety, boredom, a shit 9 to 5 existence and the general fucked up horrors of adulthood. it was a good time to be a kid back then, way better than today. but like you say, where did the time go?!!

Remember that..being chucked out in the morning to 'get some sun on you' and not to come back til sundown? And now, the kids cant cross the road to the same park I played in, although there isnt any difference...in fact, its safer because of the Offenders Register...there always used to be a weirdo about but we knew how to look after ourselves. And remember the ice-cream van and begging for a 99? My mum would suck her teeth and say "i dont know...you had one last week...."

So glad you've uploaded these lol, I've paused it only a few seconds in because Mary Mongo and Midge or whatever was literally my earliest childhood memory of the TV about 1.30pm along with Bagpuss lol. See if you can find the "Do you know where your lads going tonight" commercial as he left the house tooled up with those 70's checked lumberjackets on lol. In fact one about the clothes of the day would be good, "bags" those damn trousers with pockets on your ankles, 3 star jumpers, the six million dollar man t shirts that charged colour on the transfer as well as the later heat transfer t shirts.

Just loved how He-Man was explaining how he got his powers by picking up his sword and saying... (jumps into another intro of a tv show( Lol)) Rupert Rupert the bear... Didnt have a clue that He -Man really obtained them that way.
Sooooo many happy memories for this 47 year old. I still find the themes from Black Beauty and Rupert quite moving. I have watched all 5 compilations. Compare this lot with the rubbish that's on now!!!! Teletubbies or Banana Splitz, which would you rather watch? Have tried getting my young nephew to watch Chigley and failed dismally. Nice to see Barnaby the Bear, none of my friends remembered him until I showed them this. No Red Hand Gang or Gideon? Then there were those East European cartoons like the Mole.

We grew up in an era of class drama and great childrens tv, i lived the Phoenix and the Carpet; i bet 20 year olds today couldn't engage with it?
