I agree. But the SOG PowerPint filled that void for me and I grew to really like it. Full sized wave for chore day/outdoors minis like powerpint for edc.
What a waste of space those tweezers and carabiner are, they would have been better off with some kind of flat head screwdriver. $30 seems a little high too .... this one's a pass for me.
I’ll likely buy this and mod it. It’s the closest thing to a Juice S2 replacement I’ve seen. This with better scissors, a long reaching mini flat head (like on the PowerPint) and a larger flat head for larger screws and prying - and this would be just about a perfect lightweight EDC MT for me. Lengthwise the Power Pint is just right, but it’s trying to do too much for its size. All the tools make it bulky and heavy.
For me, the reason I think the scissors don't work that great on the Power pint is because is a left handed type. The position of the two parts that make the scissor is inverted compared to a right handed one. This affects a fair amount on how well it cuts because if you use it with the wrong hand, the way the force is aplied it separates the cutting edges instead of closing them.
I like the file on handle solution, any tool could do the same. Moreover I guess we could always superglue sandpaper to a handle and mimic that function.
To be honest im alittle disappointed, this seemd like a dream come true but the density of tools in the PowerPint just blow this out the water for me. Real shame because this looked awesome, atleast there going in the right direction.
Straight edge scissors are for paper. Serrated scissors are generally used for cordage, just as well as a knife blade. I know most people will use what they have on hand to get the job done and basically multi tools serve that purpose, as a backup tool. Any multi tool without replacement wire cutters I wouldn’t purchase. However I find these an acceptable first time tool possibly.
Good point, the serration helps hold thick materials without them sliding the scissors. Also the amount of play between the blades affects the limit to what it can cut. You probably know this but just thought I'd add a little for others who read this. 👍
[swiss tech fanboy here] despite some negative reviews on the überall, i love it. im a huge fan of all swiss tech products (especially their black g-10 würdig knife), but i will say-i compared the überall to the leatherman squirt and there is definitely competition. dont get me wrong, i love leatherman just as much as the next guy, but i wanted something new. my squirt does the job for me almost all the time but i wanted something just a tad bigger without going into a full sized multi-tool. i think for the money and size and weight, the überall does a good job at keeping it simple and convenient.
This would be pretty cool if it had better scissors and also flat head screwdriver/pry tool. I had the Gerber dime for years before upgrading to larger Leatherman clone with hammer/glass breaker end, it's doing great so far after about a year. Anyway the Dime was cool for what was but couldn't handle a lot force on the pliers due to it's size so I upgraded. But it's pliers were great for removing splinters I would sometimes get from pallets at work. In fact they made the tweezers obsolete. So if this tool has enough precision with it's pliers it could substituted a flathead in place of the tweezers.
The Powerpint is an OK tool, but it has three main things that are a dud. First, the pliers aren't precision pliers Second, there's no large flathead screwdriver Third, the scissors are left handed.
They should have added a replaceable bit driver alas next tool or Leatherman and this would have been a awesome tool. I wonder if it cand be modded to add it.
@@Wastedragon no it does not. it will come with only one reversable bit. But will also allow you to put whatever bit you need the most to carry. Also the flat bit set is very small in size. This is not a keychain.
It almost looks like they are actually trying to compete for the whole left by leatherman for the squirt and such instead. But like you say it is a little larger.
Victorinox could muller the competition in this size class, with scissors and small phillips head drivers that work, and scale tools that are worth having (the tweezers, but also the pen!). They already have small scale pliers they could enlarge as a basis, or they could scale down the Swiss Tool. Either way, they could capture most of the small keychain plier-based multi tool market, given that Leatherman has resigned from it and left a big hole to fill. This market is very broad: every demographic carries keys.
Man I really wanted to like this, might pick one up anyways for the size and aus-8 blade but so much space wasted on tweezer and extending clip. I like having tweezers in a multitool but it should be more like the gerber dime where you forget it's even there not take up half of one side and the extending clip is kinda cool but not actually useful. A flat head, a file, even one of those sim card ejectors would be more useful. Nvm wallmart exclusive...
The primary reasons to get a PowerPint are the 1/4 inch bit holder, size, and powerassist plier heads. This tools looks to have neither. IMO, the Nextool mini Flagship would be better then the Uberall. Am I missing something else?
@@kathleensmith370 Swiss tech started out as a US company but was bought out by a company based in China. As far as I know only the heritage is connected to the U.S. at this time.

Once again, like in aaaaallllll the reviews of the powerpint, the scissors ARE LEFT HANDED, using the right hand without thinking makes them underperform.
I think it's actually a very ideal size, but that size would be the only thing it has going for it. I suppose my opinion holds little water since I won't buy Chinese or Taiwanese multitools regardless, but this thing is just a major failure in design. The size is ideal to me, but they have too much wasted space. Not only by having that carabiner and plastic housing for the tweezers but also by having 2 tools on the outside and the rest on the inside. Just pick one or the other to avoid wasting space.
That is unfortunate! This is a neglected multi-tool segment. My favorite option would be the Leatherman Leap you can still find used. Then the Sog Powerpint or the Roxon M1. The Gerber octane is larger but still lightweight. The Gerber crucial is an option as well.
This was missed opportunity for Leatherman to create a Mini Wave to replace the Micra back then.

Interesting, I am going to have to try it left handed. thanks
pushing the lever with the index finger instead of the thumb also makes it better, I believe
It also doesn't open very wide, would take a simple shortening of the spring bar
