Bro it is hilarious 😂 the way he removed those plates. He literally didn't put pressure on the bottom of the PS5 so they won't come up with pressure.
haha, yeah, he's putting pressure on the wrong plate. He's supposed to put pressure on the one he's taking off not the bottom (other) one. That slight adjustment makes a world of difference. But it was fun to watch the bird fly!

I actually like the darkplates over the original. I think it makes the PS5 look less fluffed out than it should be. Watch now: when Sony does their mid-generational upgrade, their "slimmed down" PS5 will likely just use the same kind of plates Dbrand does.

I bought them mostly for that reason and the vents because it would make carrying it in a backpack way easier

The mesh behind the fan hole is a nice touch, I was concerned that adding a hole would only increase dust build up, but if there's a dust mesh between the hole and the fan, then it should be fine
And it seems to be very easy to clean

Funny timing for today's video after Sony announced their own face plates and new controller colors.
It look much better than the oem face plates. Sony should have made it look like that from the start and I like the way the faceplates take shape and sit flush along with it's curves of the console .
You didn’t follow the instructions on how to take it off. Your left hand was bracing the bottom of the console and not the bottoms of the plate….

I have dark plates on my PS5 that I bought from another company, but also bought the Dbrand plates as I love the fans vents and the top aligns with the console, so looking forward for mine to come in in January.
I wouldn't use skins even if I was paid to do it. I can never line them up right, and removing them always ruins both the skin & the original surface.
As if there is actually a message inside those plates for you 😂 I had to come back and see if it was real.
Sorry Rich I love your channel and videos but if you can’t take these off without scratching them the problem is with you, not the plates. 🤷🏼♂️
@16bit Classics I’m not defending poor design at all. I’ve never had a problem taking the side plates off when I clean the PS5 and never once scratched the unit.

You shouldn't be allowed to own a PS5 if you can't take the plates off without scratches. It takes no force at all. If you are using force you are doing it wrong.

I saw another RUclipsr saying exactly this "You should reconsider the Dbrand case. That can fan hole actually short circuits the cooling loop and creates hotspots on your system. " ANYONE CAN COMMENT ON THIS?
Well since Sony announced the official face plates, I wonder how many people will buy those over the DBRand ones.
It’s all about aesthetics. Me personally, I went with the official Midnight plates. It was a few dollars cheaper as well.

If I wanted a PS5 and get the Dbrand Darkplates for it, I would NEVER apply stickers to my PS5. Stickers are a hassle.

I read that the holes on the darkplates actually doesnt give the negative pressure against the fans like sony designed or something like that cuasing the system to work inefficient idk how true this is but if it is thats a bummer cuz that matte black looks so damn sweet

I ordered the Darkplates after watching many RUclips videos on the thermal difference - I wouldn't necessarily say it's "negligible" as RUclipsrs found a difference of 5 degrees or more really goes a long way. I repeatedly run into an overheating issue with the opening scene of The Quarry and I'm hoping these address that. Plus, the matte black is really slick especially to cover the piano black. I have no idea why piano black is so popular, but it's in my car as well and it drives me nuts.

I like the rounded aspect of these plates but that stupid fan cutout is a deal breaker. Makes it look like a cheap knockoff.
I agree fully those fan cutouts just look cheap. I saw the official Sony ones and I'm always going 1st part over 3rd. Plus you can get the plates to match your dual shocks. I do like the rounded look but like you said the fan holes kill the whole design.
