Some people do buy and sell repro parts for vintage Star Wars, and we do understand why that could be attractive to some. We're purist collectors and prefer not to, so being able to spot and weed out the modern replacements is an important skill in this hobby. Great as always! You guys should do a discussion on whether or not repro belongs in collecting. I think it would be an interesting, and non-controversial topic!
I've almost never heard grown man-children hotly debate this topic and put stakes in the ground on patently absurd positions! It's always exciting when adults tell other adults about the "correct way" to collect their space wizard toys!
I think it would be cool if you guys cracked this egg for the collector community!

Space wizard toys are the best! We think everyone should collect however they want and make their own rules. We just happen to be united in that none of us make repro a part of our collecting, so being able to identify it is vital. Thanks for watching as always!

I'm in your camp on this. I want, and can afford original stuff in my collection. But, repro is a part of every other hobby I'm aware of. Classic cars for example.
That a tiny 40 year old plastic stick costs $300+ for just a pop-up R2-D2 makes collecting original cost prohibitive for many.
I think the hobby should be accessible for people. Fraud and misrepresenting things is different, and always wrong. If you choose to collect, you should be educated on how to identify repro, as it is your money and hobby... videos like yours help that along!
We could get to a point where repro becomes basically indistinguishable from original given advancements in materials and 3-d printing tech. I hope not, but that's a possible problem.
Educate yourself, take responsibility, and enjoy your toys!

Here's another strong point on the topic... even if you are a collector that is OK with repro accessories as part of your collection, the main goal of this episode is still super valid: learning how to identify the repro vs the vintage. That way anyone who is making a purchase or having to consider a return, will be able to make sure they did NOT OVERPAY for their collectibles. If you're OK with repro... then you should only have to pay $5 for a blaster. Make sure you don't pay $50 for it unknowingly! #knowingishalfthebattle

This is what iv been looking for about reproducing weapons ever reproduce should have a letter stamp so no it’s fake checked mine after collecting for about year Five wear reproducing really good video
