- NOMAD FOR BEGINNERS - sculpting a character on the iPad - PART 2
We decided it was time to get right back to basics and start a new Nomad sculpt RUclips series for complete beginners. This is video 2 and it covers making the characters horns, then a bit about smoothing and keeping the mesh tidy and finally a bit about lighting and physically based rendering materials and how to get the little guy painted!
This Nomad sculpt tutorial for beginners will get you up and running with some of the basic tools. ThE tutorial is delivered in a project style so that you are not just learning tools and buttons. We will slowly work through how to create a little character in the Nomad Sculpting app and along the way you will learn all about blocking out, voxel remeshing, some of the most popular tools and brushes and even a tiny bit of anatomy.

So this week I wanted to finish off the head and touch on some of the painting features.
these videos are SO fantastic! Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge
Amazing stuff…
This is hands down the channel that’s got me truly hyped about this app and what it can do; I’m so made up for you, your colleagues and your channel. Thanks for your tutorial style too. You teach at the perfect pace, without some dumb music playing in the ‘background’ to completely take you out of the moment. Can’t wait for part 3. As a left handed person it’s great too, knowing how to flip the panels/stage area. Thanks again!
Thanks again Glen. 😁👍🤜
I just finished part 2 and i picked up Nomad a few days ago. I used to do 3D sculpting with Zbrush *years* ago but haven't done anything since. I love Nomad Sculpt and your videos are so well done - having the two video sources so i can see what you're doing has made learning the app so much easier. Thank you!
Sir! I’ve had this app for a year and I initially got so annoyed I just never opened it back up…UNTIL NOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you and I am glad the tutorial helped!
your videos are the best seriously if nomad was as popular as adobe premiere or other programs you'd surely have made milllions and bought a small island paradise somewhere. Is so great to have such a good resource thank you so much. If possible to hear your move settings was wondering if maybe my settings for move are way different as the technique at 4:41 I am getting more of like a spherical indentation even when turnning down the intensity or radius and just made me wonder if maybe similar to clay strokes you showed earlier i have some weird settings on or something
Really amazing tutorial! Great stuff and very engaging from start to finish
Woah looks amazing 🤩
Impresionante!!!
loving your vids thanks for your help
Glad you like them!
As always, a great tutorial video. I'd be interested to know why you connect the horns to the head and don't leave them as separate objects.
I think it makes painting more difficult and increases the polycount.
I think both are quite valid ways of working. I intend to show how to retopologise this little guy at a later stage so I want as few pieces as I can get away with. Your point is quite a valid one, I just made a choice to go down this route to show the Voxel merging process again.
thanks for making this series its very nice. only one comment on the presentation. i wish you would have only a single view the lower right one where i can see your pen moving around. the reason is that the larger view its difficult to know how your interacting with the interface as their is no cursor in the video and so sometimes i have to replay the same steps twice to see what your hitting and where to know how to access the interface properly. i strongly recommend that you either have a cursor in the big view or just show us the single view that has your hand and pen in it. other than that this is very nice thank you again.
seems so easy when you do it. then i try, and... it's not the same hahaha
You just have to keep at it and it will become easier!
Hey, following this tutorial...its really cool thank you just wanted to ask when im painting its all pixilated at the edge....yours seems so smooth what am i doing wrong?
quick question whenever i create the tube the Gizmo is jumping to 1 end of the Horn not the middle, how do i fix this?
Hit pivot on the side bar and move it where you need
Darth Smaul
Do you know of any similiar and nice to use sculpting apps for android? Anything you could reccomend?
Id like to use one to complement blender but dont want to buy an ipad for one us (esp as Im not in the apple ecosystem)
This is available in Android too. i'm using Galaxy Tab S7+
Yeah this one is on Android as well. I just bought a cheap android device and apart from lower RAM and some palm rejection issues it works fine.
@@ronylh4419 wow. Thank you both. Found it! Using a tab 6+ w/ s pen so this should be great.
What stylus would you recommend for someone using Nomad sculpt on an iPhone?
I like one called Ciscle or another called Dimples Excell. Sadly none are pressure sensitive
The link to the reference material seams to open a strange site, Seams to be dodgy and nothing to do with reference material
Thanks a lot for this video series!
