Effigy's been on my wishlist since 2020 but I'd heard so little since I thought it was abandoned, glad to see it's stil alive. Hadn't heard of Cruel before but it looks awesome, definitely keeping an eye on that one.

Captain Wayne, Exodus and Cruel look really cool, seems to be a good year for the genre. Cultic is also from 3D Realms, right? Loosing so many games would be a bit sad, even though they did not always deliever complete and good running projects.

That art style in "Snap" is really interesting. Seen almost every old fps be emulated or copied in new games but that is something I haven't seen done before. Is this game inspired by anything?
I've heard music from both the SNES and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Snap The Sentinel's OST sounds more like a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive like than SNES like. It made me think of some of the Sonic the Hedgehog games from that era. Exodus: Trapped In Time looks like those GZ Doom mods done in the Brutal Doom style essence. Effigy with it's setting and Metroidvania style gameplay is like as if the first two Turok games and Quake 2 had a baby. I played the demo of Captain Wayne and had fun with that one alongside with what I mentioned in Snap the Sentinel. CRUEL looks really fun all though roguelikes aren't really my cup of tea yet I respect all of your guys opinions. All are cool and fun looking upcoming indie shooters!

Newtonian physics in games refer to space games having realistic physics and gravity, so i got no idea why the developer put that there. I wondered what happened to effigy, i remember that game and how it looked like unreal but nothing came out of it. I thought it was abandoned. I love nonlinear map design and exploration. This is why i was excited for core decay, hope they dont can it, i mean its made by one guy, it cant be cost that much to make, maybe they want the dev to assist on some other projects and go back later. Speaking of blood west i enjoyed the first map but i gave up on the second, dont like swamps in any game and it felt like all my progress was for nothing since they made enemies tougher and put so many of them everywhere, i went to the objective and i found some underground maze and then i realize that the dev decided to go for quantity instead of quality of content, immersive sims are not open world grindfests, there is no need to put enemies freaking everywhere, it ruins any form of progression. Also sad you didnt cover some less known games like carnal and bloc age path of the oracle.
Ah alright, that seems a bit unnecessary in that game tbh. Effigy is very much alive and being developed, the scope is quite large for a one man show so it takes time. Core decay is not made by one guy, the lead dev is Ivar hill who is contracted for the work but he has a whole team from slipgate working with him. Ivar is also the one who got let go and that's why everyone is assuming it's canceled but no official info on it yet. I agree that the sense of progress gets dulled downed in act 2 of blood west, it's a much better feeling in act 3 as the enemies don't get more bullet spongey but instead has new mechanics to them. There being enemies more or less everywhere is not something that bothers me, as if you clear an area then it's cleared until you explore enough and leave.
I was going to post about this but I realised someone else would almost certainly be able to nutshell it way better. Thank you :D and it is kinda odd to use that as a selling point. With it being a modern fps, it's almost like saying your game has graphics cause it's such a standard part of any game. I also looked up "Newtonian physics" for fun and it linked me to his three laws. Recommended reading for everyone really
It's so interesting reading about classical physics. It's amazing how ancient times people were able to figure out so much without any of the scientific tools we have today. I guess it all starts with observation, hypothesis and experimentation 😊
I downloaded two of the demos, Sentry and Snap The Sentinel. Sentry: I played Sentry before during next fest. And it still makes me sad because it is crafted so well, it looks and sounds and feels good... And they only use it for wave-based gameplay. Snap The Sentinel: Wow, that is not what i expected from a GZDoom game. Unique and kinda strange and also really well crafted. The settings menu is awesome. And i love how faithful the graphics of that era are reproduced, like that flicker that emulates transparency. I'm not much of a speedrunner so that challenge mode thing and getting ranks it not my thing, but the menu looks like there will be more than that, so that goes straight to the wishlist.
I think the round based thing for Sentry is only for the demo, the campaign will actually feature more linear levels with zones in it :) Snap is really good no doubts!
Feeling like I am finally getting there. Had all of these on my Spread sheet. I had NOT however heard about the layoffs or the perm delays on Core D and Combustion. BOTH games I was HIGHLY looking forward to. I am sad now.

Evil Cult's low res styled graphics make me take a couple seconds to even spot enemies directly in front of the player, so that one's definitely not for me.
Sentry and Effigy are on my Wishlist since a few months. Nice to see them here. Cruel will probably be the first of these Shooter-racers that i play, the style of the graphics hit what i love about low fidelity in the bullseye. Let's pray that Core Decay survives.
@@ZlimBratSki It will not. Probably the only game of that sort i will play for the foreseeable future. I dearly miss the verticality and my attention span is usually very short, so calmer games suit me better.

Snap the Sentinel definitely sounds like it's got that dirty/raw Megadrive/Genesis sound in mind. I, as an old fart, absolutely love that sound and it reminds me of my childhood. A Super Nintendo style sound would be much smoother, with more orchestral hits and horns instead of distorted synths and thumping bass.

Demos are like ultrasounds for a baby, yea you can see some of it before hand but that doesn't promise it will come out. Early demos and wish listing has never meant something will be finished. Something cannot be hidden when it hasn't even seen the light of day. Most of these possible games have already been known around the boomer shooter communities so either way, "hidden" is an over exaggerated click bait.

You are not missing anything, if I didn't write in the video that it has a demo it does not have one :) The once that have a demo has the text next to it's release (Steam demo)

Firstly it's referring to the 30 year old boomer meme, the way that 30 year old acts is just like boomers act saying that games like Quake and Doom were so much better then todays Cod and Fortnite. Secondly Boomer can refer to the Boom stick, the shotgun the game weapon that so many of these games put a heavy focus on Thirdly Boomer can also refer to Boom as these games tend to be a bit more speedy and more explosive then your modern shooters. So you see it's not referring to the actual generation of boomers because that would be silly.

Core Decay has been postponed indefinitely. There were mass layoffs at 3D Realms.

Eviternity 2 deserves a mention, it was shadow-dropped on DOOMs 30th anniversary and is 36 amazing levels in a free package.

@geOrge_carlin These games are not finished correct? Meaning they are BEING created, and have a chance of never being fully created. Have you never played a demo for a game that never came out? Demos are like ultrasounds for a baby, yea you can see some of it before hand but that doesn't promise it will come out. Early demos and wish listing has never meant something will be finished.
Something cannot be hidden when it hasn't even seen the light of day.
Most of these possible games have already been known around the boomer shooter communities so either way, "hidden" is an over exaggerated click bait.

The game is called CRUEL the chapters are just random names, the actual game name shows in the video at the start of each game
I can't even find half of these on Steam
That's because you think they are named after RUclipss auto timestamps. The actual names of them are in the video, there is a flash screen of each game with their name before I start talking.
@@ZlimBratSki Nah, think that Bl0w-Up and Exodus: Trapped in time just don't show in my region for whatever reason. But you also might wanna think about changing those chapter titles yourself as I can see how that would cause some confusion.

You are not missing anything, if I didn't write in the video that it has a demo it does not have one :) The once that have a demo has the text next to it's release (Steam demo)

They can all be googled if you look at the title in the video and not the autogenerated timestamps by YT. Meaning you have to watch the video, and thats why I dont add links, because retention is all on YT

Why even call it boomer shooter? As far as I know, there arent many Baby Boomers who even play video games.
Well let me explain.
Firstly it's referring to the 30 year old boomer meme, the way that 30 year old acts is just like boomers act saying that games like Quake and Doom were so much better then todays Cod and Fortnite.
Secondly Boomer can refer to the Boom stick, the shotgun the game weapon that so many of these games put a heavy focus on
Thirdly Boomer can also refer to Boom as these games tend to be a bit more speedy and more explosive then your modern shooters.
So you see it's not referring to the actual generation of boomers because that would be silly.
