    I adore Lori Holt....she is so real and kind....not forgetting, very talented! One of the things I love about her is that she is unafraid to share how she does things and she encourages us to give it a try also! Thank you Lori!!

    I'm so glad Lori decided to do this tutorial. She seems to be very socially anxious (which I can TOTALLY understand), so I'm proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone. Of course, I could be all wrong, and she could be super comfortable in front of the camera! Haha. Either way, I appreciate her level of perfectionism, that she shares her skills with us and for all the years she's given the quilting world inspiration. Her work is easily recognizable, and always adorable.

    thanks for sharing about the bias tape bowtie knot. leaving that end side until other sides are sewn is a great hint for small pieces anywhere.

    When is Lori going to have templates in pdf size for us that live outside the USA. It cost a lot to ship whereas if it was in pdf we could make our own templates.

    I love all of your quilts, Lori! This one is so sweet and I love your method of applique. My 13 year old daughter and I are just beginning quilters. Until now I have mostly been a garment sewer. I was wondering if you would talk a little about how to prepare your fabric for quilting. Everything that I have seen makes me think that you do not pre-wash fabric and then as you cut and applique, you are careful to not use steam and press on the back so that nothing shrinks or gets distorted. I guess some quilts are only for display and will not need washing often but what about quilts that will be used and loved and then washed. Do you prepare fabric differently depending on the use of the quilt? As a garment sewer, I pre-wash everything. Thanks!

    • @RileyBlakeDesigns
      @RileyBlakeDesigns  8 лет назад

      Hi Raina! Thanks for your question. There are three camps in the quilt world - Always pre-wash. Never Pre-wash, It depends on the look of the final quilt. If you wash completed quilt that has not had the fabrics pre-washed, it will shrink a bit and take on a more ''vintage'' or ''well loved'' look. If you are not using it often and it's for display, you can give it a light vacuum to remove the dust and never wash it. It will look as new as when you finished it. I hope that helps!

    Hola. Soy Monica de Chile. Muy lindos los trabajos, hermosas las telas. Lo complicado para nosotras para tener un negocio, es que sale muy caro comprar telas 100% algodon. Me encanta coser y trabajar con telas,pero solo disfruto los tutoriales las bellezas que hacen. Con telas de poliester lo he intentado, pero la calidad no es la misma. Ojalá hubieran talleres aqui en Santiago, sería una forma de apoyar a la microempresa. Saludos

    needle turn applique takes way less time. People think needle turn is harder but it's not.

      Thank you for your comments. We like to show many techniques for projects since different people find some techniques better for their way of thinking than others. We love needle turn applique techniques as well! Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback.

    • @SmittenKitten.
      @SmittenKitten. 6 лет назад

      Many people hear the term "needle-turned applique" and run. If you're not familiar with the technique, it is quite difficult, and I believe they wanted this quilt along to be doable for a larger variety of quilter.
