I have been lucky enough to have owned 5 older Hayabusa's and currently run a 2020 ZZR1400. These machines are about so much more than just their speed. The length of them, coupled with the weight means stability that super-sports cannot match, comfort that defies expectations, and while it is obviously fast (as f%ck) it's not so much the 0-60 times that blow you away as the 70-??? that do it for me. Add to that the iconic reputation that comes with this particular machine and it's why I do recommend (if you haven't already) you drive one at least once....
Watching the video on MCN today makes me really glad they kept the clocks. Watching that speedo needle fly around the dial is some amazing theatre that digital displays just don't bring.
Yeah, watching a digital meter jumping from 12 to 34 to 56 to 74 to [redacted] just isn't as cool
Couldn't agree more!
Guess it's what they call an "organic" feeling. 😊
Top 5 five things I would love about the Busa’… #1 Twist the throttle , Holy F*%&! #2 Twist the throttle, Holy F*%&! Etc etc. 😆
The pure turbine like effortless massive thurst is utterly addictive, Incredible Motorcycle.
That engine and power delivery is so addictive.
I agree!
The engine sounds soooooo good, it's soothing listening to the reviews. The oil pump and water pump and timing chain, and the transmission gears, give it a silky smooth turbine sound. It sounds like a mixture between a race car and a jet turbine. Omg. It's so mesmerizing. The 2nd Generation bike doesn't have the turbine whine at all, b ut it still sounds terrifying from the intake scream at upper revs.
Your trike comment was on point Andy.
Mind you you could always get a trailer for the Goldwing! 🤣🤣🤣👍
That is a line I aint ever going to cross.....I can just about accept I ride a GS and a GoldWing, trailers on bikes - just wrong!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer ; I’ll always remember a quote from the then editor of Cycle Magazine (many years ago)…”A motorcycle with a sidecar is a perverse thing, but it can be made to work. A motorcycle with a trailer is death wish with an axle !”
I love my Gen 3 Hayabusa. I agree with your list. When they released it i wasn't sure I could afford one but I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively cheap it is. I like the feeling that you're more "inside" the bike rather than "sitting on top" of the bike like most others. Apart from other Hayabusas only zzr1400 have given me that feeling. Looking forward to your in depth review!
Coming soon, stay tuned!
Bmw starts at 16k but by the time you've added a pair of wheels, engine and handle bars??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think people have been a little over critical of the new Hayabusa, ok, the silver one looks a bit..... but the black is lovely, at the end of the day it is an evolution of an iconic machine, regulations being what they are these days they have done an outstanding job to be honest. top job Mr Flyer.
I've got the gen 2 awesome bike power everywhere through the range
Congratulations!!! I see that you have converted to the effortless power of Hayabusa. I've had mine for 5 years and it has ruined all the other bikes for me... Enjoy!
Very nice. I’d listen to the Busa ‘s acceleration all day long! Great video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
The top 5 things I would love about this bike would be first second third fourth and fifth gear.
Yes the busa defo nearing the top of list for my next stead..
Thank you Mr fly another great and informative vid
Cracking video, really nicely done. Couldn’t agree more more, hell of a lot of bike for the money, I’ve never owned and wouldn’t buy a busa, but like 99% of bikers i really have a soft spot for them. I don’t get all the press that say Suzuki played safe, should have changed this that and the other, why.... if you have a winning formula why change it, just bring it up to date with sensible cost effective updates, well played Suzuki. Busa lovers are going to love this one... and me.... I’m just glad it exists.
If you’re in love with someone at the local tyre supplier the Hayabusa gives you an excuse to visit them every two thousand miles! Brilliant bike, super smooth, but eats rubber for breakfast, lunch, tea/dinner and supper!
That was my experience with my Blackbird. Unexpectedly fast wear that led to some unexpected handling!
G'day TMF. A pure sports tour . Wonderful machine, all the power and torque you'd ever want. Good one Suzuki.
Love both of my Hayabusa’s. Sure it hasn’t got the modern rider aids but it’s effortless to ride. Plodding around it’s almost an automatic, stick it in 3/4 gear and ride the throttle. Start reving it out through the gears and you break the national speed limit in first, ban in 2nd and possible jail time in 3rd.
Hayabusa is Unic. I have the first gen and LOVE it totaly
TMF you need to ride the Kawasaki ZX14R, you will never feel more impressed by another Sports bike.
You tease ! waited for your proclamation of love and nothing !! Nice summing up, I've got a few fave reviewer/testers, each build up a true picture of a bike, this was really good way of doing a review. You almost mentioned the lovely whir and induction noise when you mentioned the engine, it sounds so sophisticated, yet a total turbine of a thing. It's between this and the ST 1200RS for me.
Another video coming soon Nick! Stay tuned....
My experience is the same as yours Andy, though I've not ridden this model nor owned one. I've always been a Busa fan.... mmmm still room in the garage for one more bike :)
Keep up the good work mate :)
Will do Dave - cheers!
Yes the clocks are a good combination of old and new 🇬🇧🏍
Yes they look great don't they...
Looks great, but would like to see it run up against an early 2000 models.. not sure 20 year's have made a great difference..
I love big motors like this. I have a piped and flashed Connie 14. The torque and smooth unrelenting power is absolutely intoxicating. I just like to take the misses around occasionally, so we needed the extra comfort.
Just finished putting first coat of ACF-50 on my brand new bike. Your vids on how to do it were perfect. Thank you.
All three generations all have silky smooth engines, absolute peach of a power plant.
The old Hayabusa feels agricultural when compared to the ZZR1400. The Kawasaki is syrupy smooth.
@@BibtheBoulder the clunk going into first gear though. My dealer says it’s a feature 😜
@@RichardsModellingAdventures Haha yeah. I find that pulling the clutch in and rolling back a few inches helps reduce it :)
Are you going to ride the Pan America? The new 3rd Generation Hayabusa and the new Pan America are by far my favorite bikes in 2021. They are just so timeless, and have classic vibes, but while also being modern. I see the new Hayabusa and the Pan America, having more aftermarket parts available for them, than almost any other motorcycle. Meaning, the possibilities are endless. You could basically transform either bike into a monster if you wanted.
I had the Gen2 Busa which was an incredible bike, I was lucky enough to tour Europe on it. The only downside was the lack of luggage available for it. I later part exchanged it for a Gen2 Kawasaki ZZR1400 which I have to say was the better bike of the two. Real shame you've never got to ride the ZZR TMF.
Yes I’d love a go...
Maybe add a riser to it to make it little more upright and comfortable. The hunched over position is probably the only drawback. Providing the new electronics hold up it will likely be much more reliable than other manufacturers. What an engine!
After i started riding my Gsx-R 1000cc I really realised how important is the quickshifter. Because believe it or not the bike pulls sooo hard that a simple move "opening your fingers to pull the clutch in" you'll find that it's not so easy to do. When I ride my other Gsx-R which is 125cc, it won't even come to my mind that something simple like pulling the clutch can be tricky when you have a 200hp bike.
Am I the only one thinking that they missed the opportunity for an awesome widescreen TFT?
Yes you are. .... . Haha can't beat swooping dials.
Just a thought, that yellow trike you passed is (I think) is a bloke who runs tours in your area. He was featured on Country file recently he calls the trike 'Bumblebee'!
The instruments look very nice
The hayabusa is a bike that dares to say what if a Harley Davidson could handle well. Love the bike and the video
It sounds too classy for a brief fling, I think it will be the real deal 😉
Always discounted them as high speed only missile........proving to be wide of the mark with this one.
Loving this series..........👍
Cheers Andrew - stay tuned for more soon!
“There’s a trike, the worst of both worlds”! 🤣. I don’t know how you do it ? 🤔🤣
Do you not agree David? Quite cool in the right hands (think Billy Connolly in Australia) - not so much elsewhere.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer I think they have a place but not in this country with our roads a weather. I always think they’re for people who can’t get a bike license so I’m totally behind you with this one 🤣
@@davidhall370 I use to think like that until one day I met a guy picking one up. He said to me “I had a bike just like yours, but I’m 78 and not doing well on two wheels anymore…….”
If I couldn’t ride a bike ever again, I’d try to find another way, and that might mean a trike.
1st 2nd 3rd 2nd 4th 1st 5th best thing, love it! It brightened up my day picturing TMF editing this one 🤬, 😂😂😂. Another good insight into the bike, keep up the good work 👍
I Just love Suzuki Hayabusa any model, another great review 💯👍🏾
Looks a Proper Beast of a Bike, I prefere the other colour. Very nice. Another Great & informative video 👍👍
Looking forward to the Bmw 2021 RT Review 👌😎🏍🏍🏍
Stay tuned David - the RT goes back to BMW today and my videos will be along in due course.....
The British must be tough as nails to live with such high prices. Here in Canada that Hayabusa is 22,399 CAD about 12,800 pounds. In the U.S.it is 18,599 USD which is 23,508 CAD or 13,434 GBP. Cheaper in Canada? Pity that must be why they are sold out here according to the Suzuki Canada website.
Love and like for Hayabusa topic king of speed is back Hayabusa topic is Love to watch always
I have a blackbird cbr1100xx with 170k kms, and now looking into Hayabusa or Zx14, but tilting towards busa thanks to your inputs.
One lasting memory of having ridden a previous gen is what a smooth bubble of calm air you have in the cockpit , the shape had more to do with Aero dynamics I believe in design. Not sure my creaky bones would last on it now for long periods. 😂 nice reviews as a always. 👍
Nice vid. I do like the 'Busa & sounds like you could have had 10 things on the list. Looking forward to your in-depth review.
Stay tuned RR - coming soon!
When he said 'Hey Folks!' he really ment 'Hey Kids!'
Maybe he's spent too much time with Richy Vida :)
Hey Folks? I guess you decided to change the intro message. No matter, just glad to have your content!
Yes I thought I’d subtly withdraw it as I’m afraid it may put people off watching my videos...
You missed the most important information....where you got those socks from!
From his sock drawer..
@@ToolkiT73UK True - but they were a Christmas pressie so original source unknown.....
From Lamb Chops (LCR)
Love the video as always, Andy. I went to my local Suzuki dealer, but he told me that in Belgium it was pretty much impossible to get hold of one, because of supply problems from Japan. Apparently there were only 6 available for entire Belgium. Have you heard similar things from Suzuki UK?
Wow - no I hadn't heard that though I suspect it may well be the same if its a supply from Japan issue....
I have 2011 absolute brilliant agree with everything you have said
Glad we concur!
Analogue clocks FTW :-)
Great informal review, just love the way you present your videos and it helps us bikers make a informed decision on what to buy. Great Video!
Thank you very much!
Love this bike, even the looks (for a Hayabusa) aren't bad at all. Had blackbirds in the past, loved the long stable platform and road presence along with effortless smooth power. Nowt not to like I think although if Honda were to revive the blackbird....mmm
I love the way Tim, you say you like the looks for a Hayabusa 😬
@@TheMissendenFlyer well the second version looked from behind, as Jeremy Clarkson once said of a car (Chrysler crossfire) like a dog does when crouching to take a number 2. You have to like what you're riding.
I agree!
189hp is quick and you state super smooth so that in it's self is amazing. My experiences with liter Suzi's last few years (2018 mostly) was quite the opposite. It wasn't until i fitted a PC 5 that my fueling especially at slow speeds came right. That was Euro emissions control that made it run so lean it was downright dangerous at times. The riding position appear to throw one not too forward but my near 60yr old arms wrist and back just wouldn't like more than hour's ride i imagine. Which i'd love to do for the thrill alone. That quick shifter looks the goods, my BMW is a little agricultural from first to second but your changes appeared sublime. Totally agree about the dash. Look forward to your extended review not that i'd ever buy a busa, just there must be some dislikes i'd like to here about also.
Unfortunately completely unusable on UK roads... I had a zzr1400 and it was a constant frustration. Those missiles need...space!
I sold my ZZR1400 for the same reasons. Nice but pointless.
It's why I sold my 1200 and bought a 500 twin. I can thrash that around all day, throttle to the stop, and bearly ever brake the speed limit. It takes away a lot of the worry. The only time I miss the power is when I have to overtake. But on a slow bike, you don't have to overtake that often 😅
@@RichardsModellingAdventures I traded my ZZR 14 for the last of the 1048 Speed Triples, got a great deal. Missus not so happy tho!!
@@artisalltoes nice bike 👍
The Speed i do nowadays i'd only need a 3 Speed Busa.
Agree wholeheartedly with your comments on the instrumentation. I really hope that will make its way to other bikes, or other Suzukis! I would have a closer look if that was on other Suzuki bikes. So many bikes have uninspiring units, old looking LCD segmented display, or flat TFTs, this one just looks right to my eyes!!
This bike though, legend that it is, is out of my grasp!
I agree - let's hope other manufacturers follow suit on the hybrid dial/TFT thing....
I’m in the market for a new bike and your reviews and insights are always excellent.
Looks like the perfect tourer to me. Smooth, comfortable and fast when you need it.
(And apparently so intoxicating you lose the ability to count!) 😉
Oops!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Don’t worry. Only a pedantic p**** like me notices things like that. Great review as usual. Keep them coming!
Oh look - a proper rear end complete with weather protection - who'd have thought a manufacture could actually finish a bike in 2021! Seriously though, the characteristic Hyabusa tail is a shape optimized for airflow and speed. Love the instrumentation too! Far too many LCD/TFT's look like enlarged smartphones and prove difficult to read at a glance. Must get myself a test ride!
Couldn’t agree more!
Great bike, not sure about the looks and maybe just too much performance for today's roads. Love the dash, same as my scooter.
New 'Busa here (Australia)...$28k(aud)...ouch.
Simply put
0-60 mph in 2.74 seconds.
1/4 of a mile at 148.48 mph (238.96 km/h) 9.70 seconds.
the top thing you like is the engine... well imho tell suzuki that and they should ditch the old K5 unit they insist on trying to revamp and struggle with fueling it making the GSx1000s and F along with the katana the totally opposite of the smooth unit in the Hyabusa, put some R and D into developing a new unit that works well with EURO 5 which is what they have done with the engine in the Hyabusa.... just my opinion though. Would be great to see a direct comparison to the new Kawasaki ZZR1400 soon to be discontinued or maybe better the Ninja H2 SE +
How things have moved on. My first bike back in 1986 was a Suzuki ZR 50 SL ‘sports’ moped, which wouldn’t have pulled the skin off the proverbial rice pudding.
The 2nd Gen Hayabusa seems to have a completely different oil pump, timing chain, and gearbox. Because it doesn't have the "turbine whine" of the Generation 3. Maybe it's just due to the angle of the microphone? But it seems to sound completely different than the Gen 2. I want the Gen 3 bike because of that turbine sound.
Yes it did sound great!
One of the fastest way to get killed...apart from critics how do you find the riding position,? cramped, confortable, vibrations, brakes? Coming from a honda cbr xx I love these sort of two wheels missiles.thanks for reviewing this iconic model🤗
I actually found the bike quite roomy - you lay in it somewhat - I didn’t find it particularly uncomfortable (but then I ride a Panigale!)
You're a super good reviewer of motorbikes and entertaining to boot.
Class act.
Level of expertise is a grey area.
I've never claimed to be an expert in anything Doug....
@@TheMissendenFlyer
I know.
I was expressing the degree of necessity regards expertise as a vlogger.
There are guys like Shadetree Surgeon who make quality entertainment with just layman's level of expertise on bikes.
That's my point.
You've been hit up about this issue obviously.
Completely unnecessary comment about “level of expertise” mate. This is an entertainment channel not a school.
@@SBarbati
You missed the point idiot.
I was saying that level of expertise can be interpreted in many ways but who is anyone to say ?
Get a brain.
@@frankmorris2603 I agree - I'm a huge SS fan and we've been subs of each other for years....
Not my thing these days but it's an icon for sure with good quality and great pricing when you look at the others in the class it's such good value it is surprising there aren't a lot more around on the road .Nice boots Andy for me better in black but will certainly look at them when I need some more boots . : )
Good review flyer
Lovely Video , Observations well explained, cant wait for the amazing MSF in depth review.
Stay tuned Mangesh - that video is coming soon!
Tyre wear can be a surprise with any heavy powerful bike, i assume this one will be similar to the old one in this respect. Used as a toy it wont seem important but put 10-15k a year on the clocks and it might mean five rear and three front. A significant expense to factor in.
Really? 3000 miles to a rear tyre?? Ouch!
I bought one new in 2000 and if memory serves me right, I paid 8.5K for an official UK one (not an import which were big at the time). In the 21 years since, my wages have no where near doubled (in fact they are almost the same), so how has the price of new motorbikes become so ridiculous? I put it down to PCB's where no one every actually buys one with their own cash any more. As long as they can afford the monthly payments, the price doesn't matter.
It feels that way doesn’t it!
How does it compare to the H2SX which is actually cheaper and has more power than the hyabussa? Suzuki have been rather lazy the previous years was expecting more after the hype!
I think Kawasaki have always been a great value for money bike, I’ve had a 300, z900 and Z1000sx 👍
Great bike. But now, hasn't the Kawasaki Ninja H2 out Busa'd the Busa?? ;) That's what I've heard on youtube, at least. Never ridden a Busa, would love to test ride one some day...
Another great review Andy, you’re not sure class to put the Busa in. I’d say drag. The long wheelbase adds to a more comfortable ride. I have a friend who has one. Not the prettiest of machines but a beast nevertheless. Be interesting to know about the ease of servicing, tyre wear etc. Running costs. Keep up the great work Andy, thank you 🙏
My pleasure James!
Great review, thank you! If you had to choose between the 2021 Hayabusa or the BMW R1250RS for regular weekend rides and three multi-day (2000+ miles) tours a year, which would you pick?
H&B will offer equivalent luggage options for both, so it is down to the bikes themselves.
I think I’d take the RS....I like the looks of it, it’s more comfortable and I don’t need the excessive power of the ‘Busa...
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thank you Sir, I appreciate your perspective!
Excellent review chap. I’ve not ridden the new one but the old one was smooth and good for comfort, cruising but a little heavy at slow speeds. I do like the idea of it being a high speed (hyper) cruiser and mixing comfort with performance. I would have liked to see the new ‘busa have a more modern display cluster, more power a more modern look but to be fair, this still looks like a fantastic bike. Motorbikes seem to be priced like small cars from 10 years ago these days which whilst being inevitable seems to alienate significant parts of the market unless people want to go down the PCP route and rent their bikes and never actually own the thing, something I’m completely against.
Yes me too Lee.....
Thanks for posting. Very nice review. It would be tough to justify the Hayabusa with the GS, Goldwing, and Pannigale in your garage. :) In a more serious note, a product recommendation for you, if it is not already available, knee high TMF socks. For those of us wearing taller boots and to help keep our legs warm in the winter. Just a suggestions.
Ooh kinky!
Incredible and addictive, I owned a gen one for 2 years. Unfortunately its very good at putting its owner's in the local magistrates Court.
Good vid as usual, thanks. Just on price...the S1000RR starts at under £16k
Yes - BMW pricing is quite a thing - find me someone that bought one for that! Although technically you are correct so thanks for the clarification....
Looks like a badass monster
Exquisite on every level!!
Exactly....................I still love looking at analog clocks, with a small info screen in the centre.
If I wanted to look at a laptop, I'd buy a Tesla.
The transmission whines on the big Suzuki, I’m guessing it’s the straight cut gears. They don’t use in cars because of noisy. I want a transmission for my 1/4 mi race truck like these because they shift under power so much better.
Yes I suspect you are right.....
Great stuff Andy, starting to think twice about the Ducati paingale v4 that I pick up tomorrow!!!
You made the right choice 👍
Sounds like a great bike, and yes those dials are fantastic wish manufacturers would go back to them. Think you are falliing for her. Cheers TMF
Let's hope other manufacturers follow suit eh?
Agreed. The combination of dials with a subtle but clear central electronic readout (for shift position, etc.) is really nice. The Honda CB1100 EX (& RS) has a similar setup.
Love my Gen1 Busa
Great bike at a great price.....just have to watch that speedo as looks hard to read! (Old boy with failing eyesight)
To be fair it was a bit - but it does look good!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Agreed!
When the mk1 changed to that newer at the time curved back end and restyled one around 08 , I had a limited edition version , last 100 off the track before they stopped it to the then new shape mk2 version , I rode it very hard , I mean very hard , and remembering on a ride out with ten others , a guy asked if he could have a go on it ,, I jumped on his gsxr1000, and that felt gutless compared to the bus’s a however the brakes were superior on his gixer, I didn’t keep it long , didn’t bond with it and preferred the super blackbird, had 3 of those , but I still think my zx10r would have give the busa a good run for its money , 107 mph in first , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
I thought the handling for such a big bike may have made your top 5. Is it not as good as other reviewers suggest?
Good mini review though so thanks a lot. 👍
Sorry out of topic.. I’m still curious about what’s actually clothing and riding gears can we wear in the UK while riding a motorcycle.. I think u can do in depth review on what can and can not do in English road.. thank you.. u can reply me anytime you are available 🤞🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
Crikey Andy I was so worried about your GoPro flying off the left mirror ! Is it suckered on using a RAM mount ?
Just an eBay special!
great video once again, should you have the GoPro on Wing Mirror though
It sounds wonderful. The dash - uber nice. Now, you bring up an excellent point; comparing it to the sporty Italian jobs. On one hand I think it's a bit of apple and oranges; two pretty different design philosophies and focus. But as a buyer I would think there is enough over lap that I would consider both. But I've sat on the Ducati's and for me - there is no leg room.
Which segways to: why not make a true sport tourer with an upright riding position, taller front fairing - a bit more real world friendly. Is there even a market for those any more?
Tracer 9 GT? BMW xr??
Have to agree you can't beat analogue instruments, unusual these days but I guess that a tft is cheaper. Nice bike but my back could not take that riding position.
Great review as usual. Would you tour on one? I only have room for one bike so I need one to do it all. Thanks
Yes - although luggage may be a problem
Love the silver on red.
Someone has too! :0) I way prefer the black and gold personally....
Great vid Andy. Teapot loved it too!
Glad you enjoyed it
