I don't believe I have ever seen a review where someone has done as good a job at conveying the experience of riding a particular bike. This is top shelf journalism.

I seriously can't stand motorcycle reviews. Because they are SO VAGUE and they don't give any details whatsoever. AHHHH... How can someone spend hours and hours riding something and then just say "it has good power." Most jounalists should be FIRED on the spot. You would NEVER see a car review, where they talk for 30 minutes without providing any information.
These facts must be talked about in a "review" video:
1.) Engine smoothness.
2.) Torque curve and power delivery characteristics.
3.) Gear ratios and cruising RPM at 70mph.
4.) Vibration in the foot pegs and bars.
5.) Seat comfort
6.) Gas mileage.
7.) Highway wind noise and helmet wind buffeting.
8.) Comfort in traffic, chain lash, clutch pull, ease of steering at slow speed.

Watching that analogue speedo fly round gives a real impression of the acceleration - mental! Wish more modern bikes still had analogue clocks.
Thats so true nothing like watching the rev counter needle moving back and fourth etween gear shifts.
Easily to register data on dash in digital form (if and when your looking at it) when at speed.
Digital is absolutely retarded for racing.

I'm not rally a fan of Japanese bikes, but I have to give respect to the Hayabusa for staying true to its roots. I've always loved the smooth curves of the bike's body. The Hayabusa;s design never gets old. Another thing. This was a beautifully made review. I enjoyed watching it.

Just got my 2022 'Busa 2 months back and you've nailed this one hands down.... bravo !!! ...I haven't been on a sport bike in 6 years had a Harley for the wife, that thing was awful !!! Sold it 4 years ago.... Pulled the trigger on a Black And Gold in February and can't be happier, it's heavier than my GSXR 750 then again i'm 59 now so this is a better fit but it's realistically a great smooth powerful handful of bliss !!! my face hurts from the stupid grin a hand full of throttle produces !!! Thanks for the video .. i agree 100% on all points you made. Keep your tires planted and stay safe brother !!! TT
I feel you. I got a silver and red, and it's the first 'Busa I've ever ridden. Coming from a modded '06 ZX-10R that used to eat 'Busas and ZX-14s for lunch, this one feels much more powerful (on Mode A).
While the ZX-10R felt almost like a tight rubber band when accelerating, like a turbo car, the 'Busa feels like it just time-warps. The pull is instant and feels never-ending. Smile maker for sure. 😁
I've never felt such delicious acceleration before, and that's short-shifting. I've yet to give it a full wristful and kissing the redline.
I feel no curiosity at all, because at only 1/2 to 3/4 throttle it feels like the bike wants to rip my arms off and keep going by itself. I have to watch the speedo obsessively.
I have no intention of reflashing the ECU when it becomes available. In mode A, it pulls satisfyingly hard for me. Mode B feels weaker down low and Mode C feels like an entire different, much slower bike with a more rubbery powerband feel.
If I do anything, it'll be some exhaust slip-on at the least, and a full system at the most. The stock ones are so quiet.

I LOVE your smile when talkiing about busa. I was riding my first gen busa last week in Sweden from Umeå to Alvesta ....1100 km in 10h including 4 stop for refueling, coffeeeeee and Marlboro ....i only need to change my helmet. Nothing more guys....

I think that the good acceleration numbers are more about being longer and lower than any other bike with similar power. But 10.3 on 1/4 mile is still crazy fast :D
Please do a BTP video on this. I want you to hear you scream "vaaat da faaaaak" as you accelerate full power on this bike.
dont want to mention other channels as it sounds like im working for them, but one of the other experienced riders got 9.8 out of the 1/4 mile on the new Gen 3. michael got good results to be fair. its fast as hell. i love it. torque is king!

This was a well elaborated review, Neevesy. I've never been a fan of the Hayabusa's looks but I understand and respect their origin. Though I have no plans to own one, I'm just glad the Busa lives on.
I haven't ridden since I smacked my leg up a few years ago but this review is so motivating, it brings the excitement right back, so a huge thank you.

This is such a brilliant review straight from the heart & a Busa fan can relate to it every bit.
I remember doing a tad over 200 mph on my 1999 Silver /Copper Busa when I first bought it. I pegged it on a cross country 90-mile stretch of road. It was like riding on rails and as smooth as silk. The trouble was the tiny dots in the far distance came up quick and before I knew it I was passing large oncoming trucks.
A genuine review done by a motorcycle journalist who doesn’t pretend to be a master of testing a motorbikes performance stats, which in real world terms makes it equal to all riders and their own abilities...

Beautiful review. Well done. I put a deposit on one as soon as they started taking them in February and sold my ‘17 GSXR 1000R to make room in the garage for it. I made the same move once..sold my 2005 GSXR 1000 (in late 2005)..and purchased a Hayabusa. I always loved the 1000, but the Hayabusa was so much more bike. No regrets.

Since my original comment above I have received and put over 8000 miles on the Gen 3 and it is by far the best decision I ever made. Totally love this bike! Having cruise control on a sport bike and being able to relax your grip and wrists while on the longer trips makes this bike so easy to enjoy all day! Silky smooth ride and lightning quick… I don’t care that it’s not a 200+ HP bike it’s got more power than I’ll ever need on the public roads.
This review holds up even after my purchase.

Great feedback again Neevesy, you do yourself down in the million plus views of the initial unveiling: a good half of those were down to it being you. Also great explanation of the experience of getting the speed down onto the runway. On another note I think that Suzuki have played an ace card in leaving the analogue clocks as the sweep of of the needle is more a sense of occasion than a blur of digital numbers. I have a really tricked out gen 2 Busa that I absolutely love and to me it is irreplaceable but I need to tell you, I think I'm going to have to get one of these awesome machines. I really like it alot! I don't know if I would have a need for all the electronics, I wish Suzuki would allow a choice in when choosing my new bike I could order it without all of those intrusive rider aids. I want to feel it, I want to use the skills that I have and also practice to be even better when riding a bike, I don't want the bike riding me. I totally understand that Suzuki needed to add the electronics on the new Busa to keep up with the times and the competition, I just wish it were an option. When I do get my new Hayabusa I will just turn everything off so I can ride it and enjoy this beautiful bike to it's full potential.

I bought a new 2007 Limited and LOVED it to pieces!!! I ultimately sold it because I have a bad back and couldnt ride it more than an hour. I currently ride a VMax but love going to the store to sit on the newer ones. PHENOMINAL motorcycle!!!

Imagine that bike with 30% more horsepower, like we had expected it to be, that brilliant bike would then be really spectacular. But I guess the aftermarket will fix that :)
My friend got this Hayabusa when it first came out and it's better in every way that the old model ever was. It's big and heavy and smooth and comfortable and handles great...there's only 1 thing wrong with it, it's not a ZX-14R.......the Ninja eats The Hayabusas lunch all day.

On big engine bikes like this, one of the most important comfort issues is the amount of convection and radiant heat on the rider in motion and at rest. Because if it is hot on a warm sunny day, that is the no. 1 deal breaker. No. 2 are the ergometrics. No.3 is the power.
Just sold my 2018 'busa (heartbroken/my first new bike), but will no doubt have another, I've heard there will be a white one later in the year and saw the pcp deals in MCN today :D

As an MCN magazine subscriber, I was very impressed with this super pro review, top marks here. I owned a gen one for 2 years and it was so fast. I'd love to see the new GSXS 1000 reviewed, its looks are already a bone of contention, much like the original Busa. Personally, I think it'll fly out of the dealerships with that price and spec.

Great review. I have owned 4 Suzuki gsxr 1000s over the years. Just traded my 2018 gsxr 1000r on a 2018 Hayabusa because im doing more road riding now. I was a little bit worried about not being able to do good wheelies on the hayabusa, but I saw you doing a few in this video. Thanks im exciting to see how my hayabusa goes. 😊
I had a CBR 1100XX as a second bike and that thing was a bullet compared to other sport bikes, even when down on power the length and aero of that bike made it so much easier to launch and ride at top speed.

I remember a couple months ago everyone accused Suzuki of a failure and from what I remember you putting this wonderful bike down in some ways including that it’s not suited for you because your short. Kudos to Suzuki. I love the new styling. Cleaner lines, and bold accent colors. I also appreciate the risky (non) move of staying with the analogue clocks. IMO seeing actual dials move instead of digits flashing by or a bar graph tachometer, is easier to take in and adds to the experience.
There are so many excellent motorcycles available today, I'm disappointed I can't own them all. This one included.

I had a loan of a Busa for 3 months a mate of lost his licence for about 10 years, long story was caught riding on an already 2 year suspension on a double demerit and fine long weekend. Anyway the busa is an awesome machine its comfortable handles beautifully and the power. 1st gear your right you gotta hang on it certainly takes you back somewhat, quick as really. My own bike was GSXR 600 in mid 2000, have to also give it credit I literally rode it everywhere in every condition never let me down. Ok cheers and look forward to more segments.

Glad he focused on 'real world' power. Performance numbers are irrelevant if it aint smooth and usable.

I miss my '06 bone stock,put tires on it,did all the maintenance,had to replace the gears for the trans all by myself and I was proud when she shifted great....untill I wrecked it, in the hospital for 6 months 😞
I'm happy that suzuki kept the bike alive. They aren't really doing good in sence of Buisness. This will definitely help them a bit!
It would be interesting to see some dyno stats on these since Suzuki is known to underplay their hp/nm stats (gsx-s1000(s/f)
Also, I imagine it's going to something of a monster with a full system and a tune.

To all those crying about a few numbers you can always tweak those figures by adding or reducing a gear tooth on the rear . Also a quick flash helps as well after you put some aftermarket cans on it.
Best and most honest review. The paper spec guys need to pay attention. Your extra numbers on paper don't mean jack! Truth be told you couldn't even launch the new busa with everything it throws at you.

The Hayabusa is all about max power & torque. When every other bike manufacturer is adding power & losing weight dealing with euro5 regs suzuki gives us electronics the bike should have had years ago. With 200+ hp liter bikes the Busa disappoints this Busa fan.
The Hayabusa, stupidly fast, outrageous amounts of torque, phenomenal stability, iconic machine. I have owned no less than 5 of the.....BUT, the Kawasaki ZZR1400 is, in all honesty, better in every department, and that is why I sold all my 5 Busa's yet I kept my ZZR1400.....
I just demo’d the new Busa at a Suzuki demo event reciently & yes, everything he says about it is true. What a fantastic motorcycle. Tame enough to ride through traffic, but once you get the RPMs up…OMG, what a rush. Hang on baby!! The quick shifter is butter smooth even with my wife on the back. The suspension soaks it all up & the brakes are fantastic. Not to grabby with excellent modulation. You should absolutely not determine what bike to buy based on numbers alone. You really need to ride it. I was suprised how much I liked it. I’ve been riding for for 20yrs & my current bike is an FJR1300ES
I've still got my 99 gen 1,had it from new,totally standard, 22yrs old this July,would I sell it,not a chance.love this gen 3 though.
Have had my 23 for 3 months and 7000km. Changed my screen for a powerbronze double bubble. Csn easily get 50mpg on chilled out riding. Heavy bike on slow move but loses weight when moving. Got 5000km from factory tyres.

Good Lord, haven't been in these parts for a few years, so I'm delighted to see MCN have stopped making those awful low quality videos. This one is cracking in terms of production quality and attention to subject matter and also owes a great deal to Mr Neeves' superb presentation skills. This is exactly what you want from a review and leaves you feeling far more informed about the bike than you would be from stats alone because Neevesy knows his onions and communicates so succinctly how the beast actually feels. Great stuff!
When Suzuki went from 1300 to 1340cc in 2008, it introduced an engine vibration issue that apparently was never fixed, and the new Busa is using rubber mounted handlebars to mask the vibration. I have a 2001 Busa and I weigh about 195 pounds, 200+ pounds with riding gear, which locates the center of mass too high. I can be at full throttle at 25 mph or so, but around 40 mph to 45 mph the front end lifts, more so in cooler weather. I have to really lean over the tank to reduce the wheelie factor. The front end usually settles down once past torque peak, or sometimes I have to ease off the throttle a touch to settle the front end back down smoothly, as I don't want to wear out the front suspension. 0 to 60 mph appears the be the same between the gen 1 and gen 3 Busa (1st gear is good for 80 mph), but the gen 3 should be a bit faster in the 1/4 mile. From what I've read, the gen 3 Busa weighs about 30 lbs more than the gen 1, 583 lbs versus 553 lbs (curb weight). That eats into the power to weight ration a bit, for the 187 hp gen 3 versus 175 hp gen 1. The gen 3 Busa is close to the weight of the more powerful ZX14R, but that bike is not made anymore.

Just when I was having second thoughts on the busa, once again I'm sold.
