What it sounds like is his vision is so bad that he is 'legally' blind, meaning it may not be a blackout for him, but his vision is no longer a reliable sense.
didn't watch the video, but saw it on the side of another one and had to say: A GUIDE DOG IS NOT A PET!!!! They are a working dog. They are NOT pets. They're highly trained (and expensive) aides to the blind etc. This goes for every other service animal as well. They are not pets. Huge difference. For starters, I can't take my PET dog to Friendly's, but I CAN and HAVE brought our guide dog puppies there. They're animals, but not pets.
I agree, and must add on. I have puppy raised for awhile with Southeastern Guide Dogs in Florida and have experienced several times where people have had people question and deny me being in certain public places with my dog and it gets quite frustrating, and while its a bit understanding with me since I only have had dogs in training, I have spoken with many blind people who have had stories where they have been treated similarly. While a portion of these incidents is because of ignorance on the matter resolved with brief explanation, a big part of this problem is people faking having a service dog. I get it, everybody wants to be able to take their pets with them wherever they go but this causes huge problems for people who NEED their dogs to live their lives with a semblance of normalcy. Often these dogs were bred through extensive breeding programs and go through about 1 and a half years of combined volunteer and professional training and are worth tens of thousands of dollars by the end of their training only to be given for free to the person who needs them. These dogs are far from being "just a pet." On a side note, Songwriter4God, you say you have brought your guide dog puppies to Friendly's. Are you a puppy raiser?
This makes me cry because this is heart warming

Hey, thepetcollective, why not have guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small pets?
