I Installed Dangerous Computer Operating Systems (not Microsoft Windows)
Today, I found some foreign and third party operating systems to test out. Most of us use Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.. but what are these other ones? I want to see what these are like and perhaps if they are malicious in some way.. Let's see what we can find!! I hope you enjoyed the video! They do not have access to Google as the internet in north Korea is completely separate to the rest of the world. The only reason you can access it is because you are not in north korea
Exactly lol this kept bugging me. Like no website will be blocked because he's connected to his own internet. RUclips probably just didn't work because of some dependency that the browser doesn't have

The person who got Red Star OS (NK) over the border was this man named Zammis Clark (a.k.a Slipstream). He was also the person who did the Nintendo Gigaleak and the VTech Hack.

@@isabelrosario4914 Yep, it's the same guy; Slipstream's the best kind of menace. Wildest thing is, despite the amount of giant organisations he's hacked, he's never gone to jail or anything.
It's not like the law can't find him, they can and they have, they just decided to put him on 15 months probation. I've heard that it's likely due to him having autism or some other kind of neurodivergence/disability, but I can neither confirm nor deny any such claims and have no clue as to the validity of such claims.

You can access google because you arent limited by north network proxies. The pages that didnt load were because the computer uses an ancient linux, not cuz they blocked them in the os
The ancient linux must receive a browser update before getting those to work.

@Tranium as someone who currently uses linux; nah I'm not smart it depends on the os. Something like LMDE (what I use) is pretty easy to use.

That firefox for Redstar 2.0 is old as hell (from 2011).
Redstar 3.0 uses a later firefox base, but it's meant for their intranet (weak pages).

The reason why you can access so much, North Koreans most likely wouldn't be able to, is most likely because that system runs in a totally different network and doesn't have a specific list of URLs that get blocked for example. Which would be easy to delete from your system.
So instead its probably relying on external DNS Servers to only show content the government allows and other ways of securing your network so people can't dial in to the outside world. Firewalls etc.

RedstarOS is not really a seperate operating system, it's a distribution of Linux (i.e. Linux plus a bunch of programs that make it a usable OS). But it's so darn old that it doesn't cooperate well with the modern internet.

RUclips dosent have access to South Korea, but they have their own YT called BiliBili
It's interesting. They apparently block RUclips with the OS as well as the IP address.
In theory, unless your VM is somehow using a North Korean VPN, RUclips should work as long as you're using a US IP.
The fact that it's not means they probably have a fixed host file or something buried in the OS.
I'm surprised the North Korea operating system doesn't have a default background of one of their leaders
