    The fact these guys had over 100 million minor victims and dozens of real major victims. Called in a fake bomb threat on a plane. I remember when I was 12 receiving a brand new Xbox One on Christmas 2014 and trying to connect it. I was living with my grandma so when I saw the issues it was having trying to connect to the internet I assumed it was our old wifi having troubles, only for my older brother to Google it and find out that it was some wacko Lizard squad who caused the issue. My grandma also saw this on the news after since she was super into the news and whatnot, and it was overall just a really strange experience. I was quite upset that day of course, but in the end I just waited the next day and was fine. It's crazy to see how their story started and ended. What I'm shocked about the most is their complete lack of punishments. 3 months of prison and a 350k fine and 2 years on watch is literally nothing compared to the amount of information they breached and threats they made. Absolutely insane

    Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

      @Kevin Agustin Santiago Jacobo
      a dDos attack is super simple, all one has to do is generate “traffic” on a website or server system to the point where a system fails to be able to handle the traffic, this is done by sending encoded bits of information called “packets” back and forth across the ports (access points) for the system. It can be accomplished by nearly any random person with about 2 hrs google time and a prewritten dDos machine

    • @millertime7891
      @millertime7891 2 года назад +11

      @@kevinagustinsantiagojacobo698 There are many kinds DoS attacks, and I’m not sure which the Lizard Squad was using. To follow up on what Captain Mike said, there are a couple of analogies that could help explain it.
      For example, one kind of attack could be similar to continuously calling someone’s phone so nobody else can get through; now imagine your phone company saying “hey you’re putting a burden on our network, so we’re gonna automatically drop every call you get for awhile.”
      Another kind of attack could be like me ordering a bunch of Pizzas from different restaurants and giving them your address; it ends up taking you a lot longer to sort it out than it does for me to keep calling in the orders. This is an example of both Amplification and Reflection which is the “best” kind of DoS attack.
      In both of those examples, the attacker doesn’t need any knowledge or creativity. Random teenagers could do it if they’re bored one day.

    • @richbob9155

      They didnt hack Vastaamo, thats the real problem. That company had zero protection or safeguards and the data was easily accessible by anyone with a decent knowledge of the internet. The company was a total scam company run really badly. It was wrong what that one guy did (not lizard squad, one guy who is no longer a member) but it was bound to happen sooner or later when someone noticed the total lack of security. Both the hacker and company were at fault there. It is good they went bankrupt as they were a very immoral company. Nobodys data was ever actually released and it triggered a massive increase in security in medical systems across Europe, which was badly needed. So you could argue it was good overall i guess.

    I did my first Denial of Service attack when I was 12 years old. I then took it a step further and developed a well used mod menu for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 at the age of 14 and since then I could only laugh about "hackers" that feel hacky and nerdy because they can execute a (probably not even self-written) script that sends some bs data packages towards a target. Woohoo. You're hacker man, bro. You so kewl. I know when people on xbox live used cain and able to grab the ip adresses from players in their lobbies if they were better and then they were willing to pay $10 to a third party DoS-Service to boot a random player off the internet for like 15 minutes. And thats what they thought would make a "hacker" out of them.

    great video, very nostalgic
    some more backstory: 14-16 year old me used to frequent discord servers that vinnie and others did too, what happened to him, or at least what he claimed, is that he made a deal with the UK secret service to drop all charges if he worked for them. his lack of actual compsci skill and hunger for attention highly makes me doubt this, but considering he wasnt in jail or prison id assume he got off on probation and/or paid a fine.
    later on he was seen on twitter, bragging about bribing a mcdonalds to let him sit in a closed off area among other similar goofy attention grabs/flexes.
    also theres a video where he gets involved in a street fight with someone else from that "scene" and he just got completely curb stomped lol. i tried to find it but it hasnt been uploaded anywhere afaict.
    word back then was that they didnt even own the botnet they used for all this but merely borrowed access to it from an acquaintance that actually knew some stuff, really goes to show what a reckless tantrum for attention all of it was.

Obviously not all groups are going to be no skill rejects that only DDoS but the majority are.
