- It ain't perfect, but the basic idea is there. It's kind of hacky - it uses A_StartSound on the player via an event handler, and the song segments are split up into individual audio files. It checks every [song segment length] tics what's going on around the player and switches sequences accordingly. I can even add layers, like enemy cues or the low health alarm sound. It seems mostly functional, though I'm not sure how well it'll handle songs from the other levels.
Just realized I recorded this with my system-wide EQ active. Whoops. I promise the music doesn't actually sound this tinny. I'll prove it: drive.google.com/file/d/1nG_v... Игры
I never thought I'd see System Shock ported to the DOOM engine...this is actually a pretty badass project. The music itself sounds sick too, what soundfont is it?
Ohhh, it's so good to hear Greg LoPiccolo's original idea for the soundtrack. I was so curious after MandaloreGaming pointed it out that on his review of System Shock 2 that OG System Shock had the music all screwed up cuz the programming team didn't do a good job making the music dynamic as Greg intended, so now hearing it and actually understanding what he meant, that's awesome, such a shame the original game didn't get this.
Wait what
That was completely unintentional. Happy it worked out that way though lol
I just tried to arrange it in a way that would sound good
@@vdubs4189 Oh! What a coincidence then. See, originally the composer intended the music would change depending on the circumstances, like it would sound different depending on if there was an enemy chasing you or not, your health, or the level of security Shoddan had on that area. But no one on the programming team understood that so all this triggers were never coded, and the song was just haphazardly thrown into the game, which explains why some tunes sound nice but others sound... awful.
@@icecold1805 Oh, that's what you meant. I think I misread your comment. Appreciate the explanation though!
Ok I figured it out I was super tired when responding to your initial comment and thought it was on a different video
Sorry for the confusion
This is exactly what i've been wanting! hope you finish it.
Yeah I hope so too lol
Life's been busy so I haven't had time to really get any real work done on it for the last month or so but I'm not planning on throwing in the towel just yet.
With the bobbing it looks like our hacker is dancing. Love it!
oh i cannot wait to play this
2 of my favorite shooters combined! Let's go!
LOL! This is awesome! Wow!
cool
System Shock in doom? Now that's cool!
You served Shodan well!
Transmitting cybernetic likes.
Yes! YES!
Also, I won't blame you if you're skipping cyberspace. I have no idea how anyone would implement that. I guess an invisible water for 6dof and some script on entry/exit that changes weapon/inv, but past that i have no idea how
A very, VERY work-in-progress medical deck cyberspace is in the build available for download already :)
What is the soundfont? Sounds so cool!
Not a soundfont. I personally arranged the music and designed the instruments using software synthesizers.
@@vdubs4189 oh okay. It sounds very good though!
@@vdubs4189 What VSTs/DAW did you use? This is actually the most badass I've ever heard the original System Shock music sound.
@@Cr4z3dFL Studio. I used GMS (one of the VSTs that comes with it) for the melodic instruments and FPC (another default VST that's essentially a very customizable drum machine) for the drums.
@@vdubs4189 Sweet, I use FL too. I had actually made my own custom mix of the music for Security, I could Email it to you maybe if you wanted to hear it.
