  • This is System Shock Enhanced edition played using the Timbres Of Heaven soundfont made by Don Allen. This shows footage with actual ingame music and some examples of the dynamic music system. You can find more info and download links to the soundfont here: midkar.com/soundfonts/index.html (Timecodes for each example is further down in this description)
    Timecodes:
0:15 Example of Hospital level music change
1:11 Research Level (music changing from upbeat tone to a calmer one)
2:06 Example of Research level music change (not really sure how to describe it, glitchy?)
    2:25 Elevator music
2:44 Change from Reactor music to Maintenance level ambience on Flight Deck
3:07 Cyberspace, showing how music changes from room to room
3:54-6:15 Executive level music (note how the music seem to subtly change individual instruments on the fly)
6:16 Groves music (another example of music changing between calm and action state)
Here is my videos showing the music from this game without the dynamic switching

Ahead of it’s time. The OST isn’t without flaws but the implementation gives the game a level of replay value that a simpler soundtrack couldn’t. Thanks for the upload!

To be fair, this is an older version of Enhanced Edition. These days its become another of Nightdives "kex engine" remasters, but early on it was just a fancier version of the DOS original. I have no idea if the updated version have working dynamic music

I played enhanced edition, and it definitely has the dynamic music. It changes when youre near radiation/biohazards, as well as getting more intense when you're low on health and there's multiple enemies nearby

@@Artigkar40000000 pretty sure the EE has always run on the Kex engine?

@@matternicuss Enhanced Edition did not got ported to Kex before 2018 in an update. Pcgamingwiki has a some what messy article on enhanced edition that mentions this.
Supposedly it is possible to roll back to this older version on gog, but apparently not on steam

@@Artigkar40000000 are there any downsides to it being on the Kex engine? Nightdive uses it on most of their remasters as I understand, and it seems to be a versatile (and stable) game engine. I’m playing the DOS version modded, which plays pretty close to the EE other than being more authentic.
