Thanks for your comment Nobby. Congratulations on the great buy, I only had a quick test ride but I was sold, such a great bike, you will really enjoy it. Cheers
Thanks for the video. To decide which bike to buy or to keep sometimes seems very difficult as in my case right now. But I also think that it's wonderful thing to be able to ride a bike and enjoy it no matter which. At the end of the day, not having another motorcycle in mind should not spoil our joy. I, for one, think that deciding on a bike is just a detail.
Hey man. I ride a honda cbr650r owned it for over a year now, have got a full exhaust system and power commander, dyno tuned but I'm just waiting for the Yamaha YZF-R9 2022, I really hope they use the mt09 2021 engine, going to install the Woolich race kit too. CANT WAIT FOR IT !!!
Hey, thanks for your comment Garry. Yes, exciting news for the R9 and the R7. The motor in the 2021 MT-09 is fantastic… effortless power. Enjoy the CB in the mean time. Cheers
I’m about 6’3” and need to sit on this bike to see if it’s comfortable for me. I was more interested in the MT10 until I started going through the specs and performance between the two bikes. After reviewing the horsepower, torques, top speed, 0-60 and 0-100 times , and the mpg differences, I’ve become much more interested in the MT09 SP. One drawback for me with the MT09 SP is the handlebar seems a little narrow.
Hi Danke, we are around the same height and I found it really comfortable and lots of room for my legs. I was also interested in the MT-10 but i just can't accept the high fuel consumption. As for performance, the MT-09 had plenty. Good luck with the decision. Cheers
@@thetallbiker9645 They are both good bikes. I read that the MT-09 SP is actually faster 0-60, but the MT-10 gets to 100mph quicker. The MT-10 also has a higher top speed, but I’m not bothered if the MT-10 does 155mph and the MT09 does 147.9, although both my be restricted in some markets. The gas mileage difference is significant, as the MT-10 gets 30 mpg and the MT-09 is around 49 mpg. I watched another review from a rider that was 6’ tall and your review and both seem to enjoy the riding position, which makes me more interested in trying the bike. It seems like a lot of bike given the price point. Thanks for the review and feedback!
@@dankeglock I would 100% recommend the 2021 MT09SP it’s a great bike. The torque feels greater than the MT10. It now handles so much better now than previously
Thanks for your comment, the bike was great. I was thinking about the SP but I thought the suspension, although good quality, might be too hard for the road judging from the previous model I rode but, a lot has changed so, only a test will tell.
@@thetallbiker9645 I'd say test it. I am hopefully going to test ride one soon as local dealership gets them in (Australia). The previous SP model suspension felt great. A bit firmer but really well damped. The adjustments should allow for softening further. I'll try to remember to update this comment once i do but no promises :P
Thanks for sharing the review of the 2021 MT09. Yes, appears to be a very good naked bike for the money; a small fly screen up front would broaden its touring ability. It’s still on my shortlist for a naked this summer, but.....could I really live with those contentious looks? That £9K would buy me a mint Tuono V4😋😋. Decisions! In respect of your decision re: CB650R - I’d say swop. The Honda, imho, is leagues ahead in looks, sounds great and is well screwed together; trouble is you’ve got to spank the motor at the upper revs to get the best from it. If it was providing better lower down torque, I’d keep it.
Thanks for your comment Nigel. I fitted a little givi screen to my CB650R and it makes a good improvement so I’m sure the same would apply to the MT-09. Yes, looks are all subjective but I don’t mind the look of the MT-09 at all. I’m sure the Aprillia would been a hoot to ride, personally I would rather the Yamaha, just because of the larger dealer network and more plentiful availability of parts but when a bike speaks to you, sometimes those sensible issues fade to the background. These bike decisions are the good ones in life though. Thanks for watching. Cheers
I've ordered an SP, arriving some week in June... Hard waiting but we'll get there ok. I do overthink on the buyers questions like did i make the right choice, and i just have to remember the test ride.
How tall are you? Are your legs comfortable while riding? Im 6'2" or 186-7cm give or take or maybe 188 cm, i love the mt 09 but im wondering if i would even fit it properly? Thanks, regards!
Thanks for your comment Andrija. I’m around 190cm and I found the riding position, especially the leg room really comfortable. You can also adjust the foot pegs slightly if you want more ground clearance or a more relaxed position.
@@thetallbiker9645 That's great to hear. Seeing how you're 190 cm and have no problem riding the mt 09, my 187-8 cm's shouldn't be any problem at all. Thank you for taking your time to answer my question. Since the bike is so new i haven't found ANY videos where tall riders ride it or talk about how their experience regarding height is. I hope your channel grows and you keep making quality videos like this one. Regards!
@@andrijavuckovic4264 I rode the 2020 mt09 sp yesterday, I’m 6ft4 120kg on a good day and I found it very roomy! I’ve put an order in for my 2021 bike and can’t bloody wait!
How would you compare the ergos/riding position with an adventure bike, like say an Africa Twin or Super Tenere? I'm looking for something with just slightly more forward lean.
Well, I haven’t ridden an adventure bike for a while but I have ridden an Africa Twin a few years ago and from what I remember, there is more leg room on the Honda and the bars probably a bit higher so, a more relaxed riding position but for a naked, sporty bike, the MT-09 is still very a very comfortable place to be.
Nice video, informatieve & senseive. I had doubts between cb650R & mt 09 finally chosen for mt, is more powerful, better parts, engine electronics package , sits comfortably , adiustable suspension…… don’t know about reliability? Anyway nice video Be safe
yes, I still have MT09, haven't had any problems. a complete exhaust system installed and tuned Dynojet. it drives sublimely and easily through the city or beyond, with 3rd gear it drives 50 to 150 km without a problem with the quickshifter so easy. you can easily change the oil and oil filter yourself. I get a smile on my face on every ride and never regret my choice. Be safe
I watched it back myself and thought it looks a bit close for comfort but the camera exaggerated the drama of the lane splitting 😄, no bike parts were harmed in this video. Thanks for the comment .👍
Great vid, How did you find the foot pegs compared to your cb650r & was there a big difference in torque? How did you find the balance (chassis performance) of both bikes in the Twisties. Thanks
Hey thanks for watching. I found the foot peg distance/legroom more comfortable on the MT-09 fro my height (190cm), on the CB650R my legs feel a bit more tucked up and cramped but not it's not uncomfortable. The CB is not slow but I found the MT-09 torque noticeably stronger.. to be expected as it's a more powerful bike though. Regrettably I didn't pick the best route for my short test on the MT-09 for twisty roads but I get the feeling from my experience, it would have handled them very well but the CB is not too shabby either. I will hopefully try the MT-09 SP and the Tracer 9 at some point. Cheers
I have an '18 that is flashed/exhaust. It's an absolute stick of dynamite compared to my new neutered '21. '18 has K-Tech suspension and damn did i get spoiled 1st time around. Gonna have to spend some money😒
I bet that was great with those improvements. Having not experienced those kind of mods, I am still really impressed with the 2021 MT-09. I would imagine adding those to the recent model would be fantastic but, as you say, got to spend the big money. Cheers
Hey Dylan, well I currently have the 650R and I am very tempted with MT-09 so i'm kind of in the same boat. The 650R is great but if you are able to spend a bit more, you do get a bit more, as in torque and power. I would recommend testing both as you can't go far wrong but... once you feel the instant power of the MT-09, it's hard to forget it. Cheers
Thanks for your comment Rudy. Ha.. yeh it looks really close on the camera, even when I watched it back I thought it can’t go through that gap.. :).. but on the bike it was so nice and stable to ride slowly. Cheers
