Oh my goodness, THANK YOU for sharing that amazing website!! I do a yearbook for my kids' elementary school and I usually have to take pictures of 40-60 people who moved in or didn't get photographed at the beginning of the year. I like to photoshop the background to make those pictures match the ones from the photographer as much as possible, but I always struggle so much with hair. It never looks great, plus it takes me forever. I don't need high quality since they'll print small on the page, so that website is incredible for my needs! I can't thank you enough for teaching me that life changing hack!!!
You're welcome! This is the only way I have been able to successfully remove the background from this picture. For everything else I just use the built in tools in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements depending on what I need. But this site is a lot faster and easier. And don't forget to check out my other channel where all of my new PSE videos are going www.youtube.com/@HTGPhoto
@@Kmakmizzle The problem isn't the program. The problem is that you are saving to jpeg. The jpeg format does not support transparency so it used white instead. What you need to do is to save to the png file format, that supports transparency and will leave the background clear.
I agree Rich, normally I like staying inside the program I am working with, but in this case remove.bg solves the really difficult stuff that I just can't do with PSE or PS, so it is a great resource.
Hi!! I’m not seeing the ‘refine edge’ option under the select tab; any ideas for that? I’m updated with all the current versions and everything! Thank you! :)
Its right there in the middle of the Select menu, or make a selection using any selection tool and you will find it in the options panel at the bottom.
I am a jewelry designer and I refuse to use white - I use a dark gray to white gradient, I go nuts removing the background, Can I turn the plain into a png and then paste it into my background? Bess Heitner Jewelry Designs
After removing the background just open the image in Photoshop Elements. Double click on the layer name to convert the background layer into a regular layer. Then add a new layer under that layer. Then put any gradient you want on that new lower layer.
Why doesnt my refine tool work? I try to erase over where it cuts in and it vanishes but when I release the mouse key the desired remove area reappears. Photoshop 2022
When you use the refine edge tool you brush over an area and that tells Photoshop Elements to re-examine the area. No guarantee that refine edge will be able to do anything with it. For refine edge to work there needs to be a clear difference in color or values or something else to make it work. Also refine edge has real problems with whispy hair. When it works it is great, when it doesn't I go to a tool like I show in this video.
I manually erased an entire background before knowing about this. It took me like 2 weeks. I saved the cut out into jpeg thinking that I was ready to upload but the jpeg saved image PUT a white background behind the cut out image and Idk how to stop PhotoShop from automatically adding one . Smh!
@@Kmakmizzle You need to be saving to the png format and not jpeg. The jpeg format does not support transparency, so it uses white instead. PNG supports transparency and will leave that part clear.
Not quite, select subject is not able to remove the background from this photo. Select Subject is a useful timesaver, but it does a pretty poor job on difficult selections. Even with using Refine Edge after making the selection Photoshop Elements cannot remove the background cleanly from this image. Even the much more advanced Adobe Photoshop can't successfully remove the background from this image. That is where you need an AI powered background removal tool.
@@febeleven Hi Debra, not sure why you aren't seeing the site in English, it is in English when I look at it. Check your browser to see if it is trying to traslate the page.
The title is deceiving! It is not "removing background using Photoshop Elements" but "using Removingbg and pay for this". Your course is about Photoshop or about other software?
This is how to use a FREE tool along with Photoshop Elements to remove a background. Of course, as with all free tools there are higher resolution options that do cost, but that isn't what this video is about. My Photoshop Elements training is about Photoshop Elements, my Affinity Photo training is about Affinity Photo, my Adobe Photoshop Training is about Adobe Photoshop, my Adobe Lightroom training is about Adobe Lightroom, etc.
Is thi tutorial for experts? You were speaking so fast and clicking things so fast I couldn't even understand what you were saying!! Played it back 5 times and still could not get it!!
No, this is a beginners tutorial. In the RUclips video player you can slow down the video. Click on the Gear icon just below the lower right corner of the video window and adjust the speed there.
I just watched my video again, and there is nothing wrong with the teaching. Just do what I show. Removing backgrounds is one of those things that you need to do several times to learn the process, you won't get it on your first try. Takes practice.

A great site and thank you George
You're welcome Eileen
thanks for the download
No problem
Very interesting. I might use it from time to time. Thanks for the info.
Glad it was helpful!
This was incredibly valuable - both the PS version and the online version. Thank you so much!

Why won't this program produce the cut out by itself? It keeps putting a white background there when there isn't one at all.

You're welcome Debra, this site is a great problem solver for the impossible problem backgrounds.

In the new Photoshop Elements 2023 you can just press the "select subject" button and it does the same as removebg

Do you know if this works with Photoshop elements version 14? I'm not seeing "subject" under the select drop-down menu.
Hi Matt, sorry no. The subject select came after version 14. But take a look at background.bg, its better anyway and works with any program.
