This was by far the best directed and produced episode of the series,the entire fight was supposed to have an unsettling tone with Kafka trying to take back control and they nailed that. I liked it and I’ll be back for s2
The one thing I didn't like was the interruptions in the early part of the battle, they kinda broke the pace a little and those scenes could easily have been moved to earlier in the episode and let the fight just go in one continuous stretch.
The next arc will be fire. And it will become personal between Kaiju 8 and 9.
Season 1 was about Kafka showing he could contribute to the defense force without relying on his Kaiju transformation; now we’ll see how well he can control it without going into a berserk state in Season two.
I admit I misjudged the Director. He is wiser than I thought he was. I also did not expect Kafka to take himself out like that. I had been wondering the whole week how they would end the fight. Mina standing up for Kafka was a sweet emotional touch. And when everyone got the message of the judgement, that was a tear-jerker moment T_T
I got the Vibe that his Kaiju portion has an Anti-Kaiju auto attack nature. The moment the commander uses those Kaiju #2 gauntlets his Kaiju instinct recognized it's opponent as a powerful Kaiju and attempted to neutralize it. He couldn't control it. Reminded me of Shinji not being able to control his EVA once they activated its dummy-core. He's gotta be a Anti-Kaiju sleeper. Kinda makes me want to read the source material to see if I'm guessing right

I'm so glad his disposal was deferred, I am not surprised but seeing it happening made me glad for Kafka and everyone in Third Division. I wanted to see Reno shout out in excitement too but too bad tharu took that away from him.General Shinomiya calling him by name was a surprising moment too, it did sound like Mina's words resonated with him so I'm looking forward to seeing more of his character. I know he's a bad father but I wonder what he's like as a general, it feels like there is potential for his character to have quite an interesting depth. Especially after getting confirmation that he was testing Kafka even if it's too use him as a weapon but the fact that he uses his name shows that he doesn't simply see him as a Kaiju and that is good with me for now.
I feel like Kafka is going to become the King of Kaijus, like Godzilla.
Dang cliffhangers.. lol This was a great episode after the last one. I still have to say my fav part was Kafka saying to Mr. Shinomiya that he couldn't show his face to Kikoru lol.
Kaiju no.9 is gonna be biggest threat for second season he got more intelligence that is most scary thing to have .
I binged this series in 2 days, and i gotta say the manga community hated kaiju no 8 at that time. Glad to see it finally getting recognition

I still see a lot of nasty comments about this whole series, and I still think they're wrong.
I'm fully caught up in the manga myself, both the main one and the B-side one. And I think they handled it beautifully.
@@RutabegaNGjust a thought, is it just me or the haters sound like they have mental health issues? Usually for something which one hates, one can just drop it and forget about it, but for the K8 haters, they go to extreme ends of posting hateful comments from imdb to Reddit constantly ever since the anime debuted. Man, these posts are so mentally consuming that I can't even fathom what is going on through the hater's heads
same, i binged read the manga after episode 10 dropped and im like "is this what people are referring to as a story that fell off?" and i disagree because man, its a story that is straight to the point, we have such lovable characters and the relationship of mina and kafka is just so wholesomely developed.
@@Mairuzu I think the reason why they tought it has "fell-off" cause not like other jump series that released 1 chapter per week, the author got permission to released it 1 chapter per 2 weeks (before it, they released it every weeks and took "rest" after 3 chapter like one piece), and u already known how "bad" the cliffhanger of this series😂
The desire for the fast solution would have hurt Kafka. Kafka showed wisdom by trying to not use the Kaiju unless it was an emergency.
bro a kaiju bomb nuclear in the sky, definitely an emergency situation. Who would push it out of if not Hibino/Kaiju No.8 and blast it out in the sky so it wouldn't damage the ground level.

DAMN THIS SHOW WAS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! The Kaiju Genre is still going strong, whether it’s Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, or in this case Kaiju No. 8, cannot wait for Season 2.
I'm soooooo nervous about what No. 9 is up to, S2 can't come soon enough!
It was very frustrating listening to people complain about him not turning into a Kaiju with just about every episode. And maybe if this was a standard shonen that's exactly what would have happened, he would have turned into a Kaiju at every opportunity.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I am fully caught up on the manga and I'm still looking forward to season 2. This has been an interesting ride. And I'm hoping it doesn't lose steam in the second season.
This episode is so good and so emotionally The emotional struggle of the entire squad and them having the talk about it, then going toward Mia waiting, to go back to the fight. It was a nice twist to see he's granting his daughter's wish without making it look like he's soft. We saw how strong he can actually get if he fully let loose and let the kaiju fight. Kafka even though he had to fight to prove himself, he still went further just for Kikoru and then we see his mental space, he tries so hard only to screw up at the most important part. Even back at Kikoru she remembered telling him that she'll kill him if he ever became a kaiju that hurts people, she wrestled with the fact that she may have to end up killing one of the only people to treat her normal and as a friend. Her emotional struggle carried the weight of the fight even more, but the words of her father, when he said he hoped, but all was lost blew it out the water that he was indeed hoping, he was indeed trying for his daughter's sake.
Putting this separate because it needs its own space. When we go back to Kafka drowning, what was the one thing that saved him? The one thing that he has held onto his entire life? Mina, and the words she said to him, then and up to now "I'll always be waiting." That was what brought him back, that promise to a dear friend. Now as true military fashion, they allowed Mia to say her piece, but let her know that it won't affect any judgement so she won't feel guilty about the outcome even if it goes south. We also get a little backstory in between the two of them, his resolve is unwavering i'd give him that, he has stayed true to his promise from back then and would stick to it no matter what. With all the military brass arguing, what to do, the scene of Mina walking outside and learning the decision, we saw the happiness of a friend for another for a split second and then she returned to the officer she was. She still cares for him, and still waits for him, that girl got some serious patience and is on the long waiting game!
Now for the Kaiju, honestly kind of glad it played chess with casuals, i'd be worried if it played with some other really high ranking peeps (not saying they bad, but seeing as his friend is more casual at it than really zone focused) , if it did... no wonder they got screwed strategically. The bait ending though, that cliffhanger.. i swear, ifi can't get kaiju no.8 next week i'm gonna roar like like a kaiju!
At the end of this, i can go back and watch form episode one all over again and NOT get tired of this series. Even found a few easter eggs in it when i was talking to a friend aobut it. Overall good show, good adaptation, they really outdid themselves and all i can say to the studio is.... 怪獣8号ありがとう See you next Season!

This was a great for him he proved his worth by his own actions and I had 😭 I’m excited for season 2
the red highlights is a nice touch. I keep telling everyone you cant just 'rage out' the politice of the organization you gotta take things with a domestic approach and follow procedure.
I really love the opening... my #1 for at least the last few years. The video integration, music, and lyrics are so well synchronized. The "regular life" style ending is good too.
I really loved this episode as it had some of the best combat scenes of this season. Like both the production and action was so on point, and not only that but it also some really impactful personal moments. Especially when Kafka was trying his hardest to continue being a Kaiju and beating Kikoru’s dad to death in front of her. Which gave us such a good moment with her as well. As she feels like she needs to put down her own friend, but despite that she still chooses to believe in him. And the way Kafka stopped himself by punching a hole in his own chest was such a brutal scene. Because it shows us how much he is willing to go to prevent killing others, as well how he is not human as he did survive that.
So yeah with moments like this I have to get another season to see how this story will progress. Especially now with how Kafka has to prove himself more useful as to not only be allowed to live. But also to be treated as a human officer as well. And I really wanna see him stand side by side with Mina again
Season 2 - she will have to come to terms with the fact she wants Kafka to pummel her the same way he pummelled her dad 😹

Kafka has balls of steel sleeping in front of him in the middle of a conversation though lol. Well I can't blame him after all that has happened to him. It's interesting how his chest is completely scarred, I wonder if he has a similar scar on his legs too or if he will have to permanently have to have Kaljuu legs.
Kafka is gonna be the defense forces lethal protector. If people outside of the defense force know kafka is a kaiju, they will be a problem

YES YES YES! So glad this is getting a season two! Of all the new anime that aired this season, Kaiju No. 8 is the one that deserves a continuation the most. It doesn’t surprise me that people complained about Kafka not using his powers more often since that’s what a lot of “tourists”, “newbs”, and “casuals” are used to but for those that chose not to listen to short attention span based takes I applaud you for sticking with this one because this is truly a unique shounen anime. I also find it funny that a lot of the people that had positive things to say about this show were people in their late twenties and early thirties (myself included). So they could more easily imagine how Kafka felt doing what he did throughout the season. If anything this was one of the most inspiring anime’s I’ve seen in a long while, alongside Jobless Reincarnation. Can’t wait for season two, so excited!

Fire upon fire of a series. The ending with No. 9, crazy. Glad General Shinomiya decided not to kill Kafka. Kafka is alive, but will have a hard time onwards in the defense force being referred as a kaiju. Season 2 with be the next level of peakness, no doubt, with more great animation, action and soundtrack.
Looking forward to see more of those Kaiju weapons in season 2!

That was really fun to watch I enjoyed most of it, most of the comedy was a miss for me but was enjoying the story. The characters were growing on me 2. Now waiting for season 2

Having read the Manga up to Vol 10 before this show started airing, I had a good idea of what was to come in each episode, now having just had your 'Spoiler Warning' pop-up I won't spoil anything for you but I do want to say that in the Anime they are putting in a lot of additional scenes and fleshing out a lot of others, I assume to help with episode pacing but it's been really interesting to see this other content that is going the extra mile in building up certain characters like Izumo & Kaguragi for instance, so I'm heavily invested in Kaiju no. 8 even to the point that I recently shelled out for CrunchyRoll just on the strength of this show alone, but I'll continue to get my fix with the manga while we wait the 1yr+ till season 2 comes out...

Shinomya‘s Dad isn’t Human either he got like 40% of his stomach blown out and kept fighting as it is nothing 😂 A human would have died to not enough blood in under half a minute 😅
He have the suit which have a barrier and can close wounds mid combat, it also aids in healing
But Shinomya herself could not stand up anymore after one shot and the healing would have to be und Kafka‘s Kaiju level because he lost a major part of his vital organs that should kill him instantly

@@AHBrandonReviewsWell I suppose that narrows it down to somewhere in Florida. I thought it seemed pretty early but guess not, five timezones are kinda hard to keep track of for me.
Man I was so excited to see Narumi Gen in the anime but they absolutely fumbled his design lmao. Honestly that's the only thing I hate about this show, the character designs are really bad compared to the manga designs. Hopefully they change whoever is doing the character designs for season 2.
I enjoyed the anime a lot but I gotta say that the designs in the anime are kinda watered down, the red flags started with Leno and Kaiju no 9 and how weird they look in the suits. But the biggest offender is Narumi, they did him extemeley dirty, like someone in the studio haaaaaaates him.
He looks so bad in the anime, in fact, he never had that hair in the manga, he does wear his hair up and down, he kinda switches it up from chapter to chapter between the two but he never had that season 1 megumi looking haircut

I may gone way opposite with others on this series. I'm just gonna be blunt here I do not like Kaiju No 8. In terms of narrations, plot, writing, most importantly the characters. I do give credit to the animation, design, settings and ost especially op and ed. Why? Most characters is just one dimensional without any solid reason whatsoever. For example, I just hate ichikawa, kikoru, and others always say I have to be stronger. Over & over again. Also why does Kafka is behaving like a 16yr old shonen protag. Some may say it's coping mechanism. To me that's just bs. Not to mention if Kafka use more of his braincell on the meteor scene. He could've just gone to the other building when there's no one snd just transforms over there. The power level is very scuff, just op for no reason. Especially kikoru. Even tho she always say "I want to be perfect" while she already almost at that stage. Ashiro Mina, which just basically discount Erwin. Characters just praising her for no reason. Claiming she is the inspiration for others. Ok so why is that? The anime doesn't show any reason or motivation at all. No reason why Kaiju is on the rising. No reason why it's rampaging in the first place. The olot holes is just keep growing more and more. Usually for anime, I don't mind if the story and plot are generic. As long as the characters is interesting and unique. Like MHA and Demon Slayer. But in Kaiju No 8 however, I feel nothing at all. Just generic shit. Like 7/10 just because of the animation and ost is good.
i prefer the ed honestly.
