It is bad enough that they are trained to point guns at people and force them to degrade themselves like dogs when they have no evidence that the people are violent. But that they train them to treat people like that, but do not train them to double- and triple-check what evidence they do have? Seriously, how difficult would it be to train them to do a re-check on the tag lookup before taking such drastic action? And if it comes up stolen both times, then check the color, make, and model? And only then take drastic action. Or, you know, not point guns at all unless they see a weapon.

If they'd done anything wrong on this illigitimate stop - like pick up his dropped phone - there would have been 'consequences'! So, the cops are allowed to make mistakes, but a family illegally stopped at gunpoint can pay with their life if they make a mistake. This "cop safety first, citizen safety be damned" policy has gone way too far. Today's cops behave like a gang of cowards unwilling to take the slightest risk for the sake of the civilians they should be serving. Above all else, they serve themselves.

I work on NCIC every day and here is my question...when the tag came back as stolen, why did they not verify the COLOR, MAKE, & MODEL of the vehicle and see if it matched the description of the stolen vehicle? It is true sometimes when you run a tag out of one state it comes back as a stolen vehicle from another state as a "Near-Hit". That is why the Dispatcher/Officer should always do a vehicle description check (as well as check the state from where the return came).Highly Unlikely that 2 vehicles with the same "Tag Number" are also the same color, make, and model of vehicle. When a stolen vehicle "hit" pops up, ALWAYS verify the description of the vehicle! EDIT: Pointed out to me several times that it didn't come back as stolen....that makes it even worse.

It didn't even actually come back as stolen. Officer Pat explains in one of the bodycam videos, that it showed it came back to nothing (in az) when they went into CYA mode, it suddenly turned into "a perfect match, everything, it's unbelievable"
Good choice of words, because I didn't believe it for a second.

It didn’t come back as stolen. It came back as “incorrect registration.” My guess is that the plate number either doesn’t exist in Arizona or it’s registered to a totally different vehicle. If it’s registered to a different type of vehicle and they had entered the correct state, I could see them thinking someone had put plates from another car on this one. That would explain why they thought it was stolen.

@7:30 It didn’t come back as stolen, the idiot cop *assumed* that the car was stolen because it wasn’t coming back as being registered in Arizona (AZ) because it’s registered in Arkansas (AR)! 🤦‍♂️

@@danielboone8435 I stand corrected...that is what happens when I comment on a video on this channel based on seeing the same event on another channel with a different video edit(s) than this one. Thanks.

I’m afraid “doing everything right” doesn’t always have good results. This had the potential of ending badly. Why was the tag ran in the first place? Unless you see a violation and are making a traffic stop there is no reason to run the tag.
