Hi Brock and dad. Sorry I don't have any advice but it's sure interesting watching you guys. I really like your dad's shirt. Amen. Thanks for sharing
Love your dad's shirt.
Think you nailed it. I got a mini skid steer and never thought it would be as handy as it was
Great video Brock! Looking forward to seeing the rebuild!👍🏻
I acquired an old Woods 7500 "Groundbreaker" 3-point backhoe, and it needed all hyd. hoses replaced. That cylinder inside the boom was the biggest bugger, and it did necessitate dropping the boom flat to get the cylinder out for access. I didn't have to take any joints apart, like the stick-boom joint. To do so, I would have needed a hoist or another tractor to lift parts.
Good luck, Brock...it can be done, but this design was not one of Woods' shining moments.
PS- I did spend the money to have all the seals in the valve/spool control block replaced. Those valves are obsolete so I couldn't replace the pressure relief valves on the three spools that have them...there is a small drip still from them. A new control block, if it's really available, would be NOS, meaning it's been sitting on a shop's shelf for 40 years. The cost is listed around $2400. Um, no. This backhoe is not worth that money so I check hydraulic oil level frequently and park the backhoe over a flat pan.
I love your Dad’s shirt, where can I get one.. AMEN to that verse…
Cool project guys, right up my alley!
Love your dad's t shirt where did he buy it God bless you and your family keep up the great vids
Great shirt! Spread the Word!
When doing hydraulic hose engineering, we always just used a wire tag on the hose with the mounting location. I bet you will find that the stabilizer hoses are going to be the same, left and right, although they may be different lengths.
Having retired on November in 2023, I can attest to your dad's sentiments. You start wondering how you managed to get anything done back when you were working.
Sometimes - if you extend (or retract) the boom you CAN have access to the other end of the hose/cylinder.
Those cylinders should be easy to rebuild as well, just get the right size spanner wrench for the rod gland
We were a Woods dealer for a number of years. Anymore, the first place everyone turns to for information is the Internet. But I always find that I’m best off to start at the manufacturer if they are still around. When I needed help on a Woods product, I found I could call the Woods plant in Oregon, IL and ask for service. The guy there had a lot of old manuals and information on their old products. I think he would talk to you even though you’re not a dealer. I’m not sure if Woods actually built that ‘hoe or if it was supplied by another vendor. Good luck!
Messicks and German Bliss Equipment have some parts availible. Sure a good project to keep Dad motivated .
Without even watching, I say definitely worth fixing if you have something to put it on or someone who can use it. Backhoes are pretty simple. It's just hoses and cylinders unless one of the major components was damaged beyond repair or is missing.
Brock I'm glad to see you asked to have the brains of the operation join you. Joking 😂.
Hi Mr M👍🏻, good to see you.
If you do have to separate the boom from the operator station. That would be a perfect time to go ahead and rebuild that boom cylinder. If it's a huge pain to get to anyways.
Good morning Brock. I've always wondered what happened to "Frankentractor". I think it's great to see it again. Do you still have the old G.M. chassis that it was on? This is a great project for the two of you. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂
My 3 cents is to empty the bucket before u guys spill it all over the floor lol looking forward to this build , I'm sure it's going to be more involved than thought 🤪
I would go ahead and make it quick hitch ready all you need is a welder and cutting torch
I'll enjoy the rebuild process , but I'll be very interested to see if you can find Some WOODS factory paint !
pc
I don't know if you watch captain kleeman what I learned is a air hammer works good for taking the lines off I just trying to be helpful lol 😂 😂
I'm just wondering what is the cost of rebuilding this backhoe? Were talking 14 hoses, probably rebuilding 6 cylinders, and possible also 6 control valves and who knows what else. Just a question of value.
That valve can probably be rebuilt! Can you find any name or numbers on it? Each section may have a different number.
Just wondering if you have contacted Woods customer service about the manual.
It's too bad you don't have a setup like my HF gantry crane with two 1T chain hoists. You could pick that piece right up and wheel it around the shop. You could get at any part of it from any angle.
Go ahead and cut the hoses if you have to
Is a Vevor quick hitch a different width than imatch?
Looking forward to this build.
Might have to lay the part that mounts to the tractor down if you can't get the boom to lay down.
If that doesn't work the pin in the bottom of the boom will have to be removed so the boom can separate from the operator station. That will allow enough room to remove the boom cylinder to access the hose's
I have a woods T308 also your old video is the only one on RUclips about the 308 I’m restoring mine now
your backhoe is missing the Hydraulic limiter assembly, not sure if you need it just noticed you didn’t have one
