HOW FAST CAN I BREAK A STUMP BUCKET?

  • A few years back we created our first GWT product-a stump bucket for small tractors. After seeing all the stump buckets available on the market, they were just too big for small loaders and the risk of damage was real.
So we created a small bucket and called it the GWT Mini Stump Wrecker. Since then we've released its bigger brother, the HD Wrecker, and now we introduce the first prototype of its bigger brother, the Mega Wrecker.
But we have to change the product names and we'll explain why. Then we'll give the Mega Wrecker it's first test to see how it performs.
Good Works Tractors is happy to be sponsored by Rim Guard Solutions! This is perhaps the most well-known ballast brand on the market today. Rim Guard goes right inside your tires, so it's out of the way, it doesn't freeze, and doesn't corrode. It's made from natural materials, so it's safe around livestock and pets if it spills out. Rim Guard liquid ballast adds more weight to the back side of your tractor improving stability, loader performance, and power to the ground. Find your closest dealer at bit.ly/3d0whX0

I want to thank you for showing your testing on the maximum size stump wrecker and the fact that you bent it. Most will not show you what goes on in testing. It shows one can trust the equipment that you produce as it is tested to the failure state and then made strong enough to handle the equipment you suggest it to fit. Again, thank you and have a Blessed Day.

Really like the fact you show the field testing - makes a difference from picking up an oversea's unit. Thanks!

Our school bought one of these for our Kubota 3650 tractor a few weeks ago, and I am totally impressed! I have removed about 40 stumps, the largest being an oak stump about 20 inches across. But for the last 3 days, I have been digging a trench through hard-pack limestone, and this thing rips it to pieces! I thought I would have damaged or broken the teeth by now, but nope, they are fine. Very happy with this purchase and you could say it has already paid for itself, it saved me renting a trencher. Great product!

Hey Courtney, just wanted to comment on the stump wrecker(oops , stump remover) I purchased from you last year. I believe mine was the HD and purchased for my JD 2032R. It is performing better than I can ever imagine. The first few stumps was a learning curve and sheared a few bolts off seeming every stump I tried, I am going on like 12 + stumps now and no bolts shearing off. Taking it easy and picking away and the stumps will go. My opinion, after more than a year and more than a a couple dozen stumps, you have a great design and would highly recommend. Again its a learning curve as with any equipment. Treat your tractor right and it will treat you right. Thanks for your great videos and content.

I have one of the mini wreckers of stumps for my 1025R since last year. Does stumps and roots and a credible job of trenching and transferring dirt and gravel to focus areas (like tire ruts and landscaping with medium size rocks). I did put a bend in one of the little side teeth. ;-)

I live in Florida and just went to rim guard. I need more weight and tire was loaded with water. I still did not have enough weight using my grapple. Looked at wheel weight and it would cost just as much as rim guard so I went with rim guard finding someone in Florida was made easy contact rim guard and they had someone local they came drained water filled tires and I am very pleased with the rsults. My tractor is much more stable

If you gusset inside the upper wedge where the loader plate inserts, make it wide eough for a Gehl or a Takeuchi. Mine won't pick certain Bobcat branded attachments because the gussets prevent my plate from inserting into the wedged pocket. Cheers.

Specifically for stumps, how does a stump bucket compare to a front auger based stump plane? I guess it depends what you want to do after removing the stump. If it's just a lawn, maybe using the plane would leave a smaller hole to fill. But if you wanted to till or scarefy the land for some application you might want to dig out more of the stump.
And the front auger / stump plane setup is more expensive, so maybe it also depends on what else you plan on doing with the tool which one would be more versatile.
And in a city environment, for stumps between sidewalk and road, the planer might be best to avoid damaging the sidewalk (or road).
I think I answered my own question. Did I miss anything?

Sisters neightbor up in maine destroyed his NH 50hp loader with a stump bucket, just acting a fool with it. People need to realize the difference between loaders on skids and backhoes and tractors and work within the limitations

I’m only 1/2 way through, but looking at those teeth on the mega wrecker, I wonder if it might be advantageous to cut the bolts shorter. I fear that with exposure to the moisture and abrasion/impact of earth the threads would corrode and deform making replacement of the teeth somewhat more difficult. Just a thought. :)

GWT is one of only a handful of co’s that I would trust to buy from online. This video is why. You tested it, found areas for improvement, and came right out and said you wouldn’t sell one til all issues were resolved. Bonus points for doing a realistic test. Most folks are gonna sink those teeth as far as they’ll go, not just part way.
