These are channels that can be found in the Roku channel store on your device. If you have a favorite that is not listed in this video, let me know. If you are a cord cutter, check out Pluto TV. It has improved a lot since its launch. Thanks for watching :)
nice video !
eh, call me when you get to mobdro
TechGumbo please make that your next one

Just got my Roku stick which I’m loving right now. I’m so pleased with your video. It was so informative. Especially learning about all the freebies!🙌🏽
I need to pee
I was on the verge of tossing my Roku and in a last ditch effort came across your video and boy was I glad. I took most of your channel suggestions and it saved me a ton of time and massive amounts of confusion away. Thank you, thank you. thank you.
I just got Roku a few days ago, and this video is very helpful, so I know what to add for Roku. I've already added some of the channels from this video.
Thanks man this was super helpful and funny
Hi! I saw your video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been wanting to cut the cable cord but hubby still wants cable. I made changes to our cable package. Now we have a slightly lower bill. The new cable package will be good for 2 years & after that I told hubby we are done with Xfinity cable. I want to try out one of the many streaming devices. Thanks a bunches 😁
I cut the cord in June and couldn’t be happier. Thanks
5 years for us Roku and Iptv on a 65 inch :)))
Me too have firesticksteve 1200 channels...25.00 for 5 devices
You missed Flashback 80's . It's like MTV used to be without the VJays. This is certainly one of my faves.
Great job. Professionally done and your choices were right on.
🙂
Great video...really helped me, well oresented!
Great HELP!!! Thank you for sharing this info.
Thanks, I have a lot these but I didn't know about the Weather one
I am so new to this and I appreciate this wealth of information. As a single mom if I don't keep any other New Years resolution (I really didn't make any) I vowed to get rid of this stupid cable bill. You and this forum are a Godsend! Thanks for this value knowledge. I love FREE! Happy New Year everyone, peace and blessing in 2018!
I had to thumbs up just for the comment on Cheaters and the Kardashians. I couldn't agree more about both.
Cheaters used to run in my area after The Late Late Show at 2am. Horrible show but it serves a purpose...catches cheaters and the crew confronts the idiots. Kardashians are a train wreck.
Very useful. Thank you!
I purchased my roku a few days ago & love it....I have over 110 channels so far and still searching for more...who needs cable these days...
Why can't I get youtube tv to cast to my roku tv
@@terripowell8694 :
1) open the youtube app on tv
2) click on sign in
3) follow all instructions accordly
4) enter your code
5) then sing into your goggle account...let me know what happens.....
Thxs for video. Deciding which roku to get, so at this time most info is appreciated. I have your subscription now.
Thanks @TechGumbo! Just got a Roku Express a few days ago so this is right on time
Very useful video! Thanks!
If your library underwrites it, Hoopla and Kanopy are great additions. Hoopla just added a lot of the British Acorn offerings and has downloadable ( and streaming) audiobooks as well.
What about Andysfishing Wild Cook? Great Catch and Cook videos in amazing locations.
Love my Roku 4, PLUTO is one of my favorite channels they also have full movies you can watch. Great video TechGumbo. :)
jazzi04 pluto not availiable for canada as meny others arent either
80's 80's - wow, I don't understand why it isn't, did you contact Roku ?
Did you try to download the app on your desktop/Laptop or cell phone? - plutotv.com
i love Newsy....
Thank you! Just got firetv , and figuring out what's app. This helps.
Love the Roku. Have it on all my TV's. Got rid of Dish but cant get rid of cable, it's the ONLY provider for high speed internet in my area and the price is INSANE! Bloody robbery. 😭
You need to add Philo. It is a subscription after a free trial but offers a lot of cable stations including all three Hallmark stations, HGTV, OWN, AMC and more. There are two packages available starting at $17.81 for the basic.
just thought i'd throw this out. a few months ago i researched and was just about to cut the cord with Dish Network. Uverse and others had a 1 tb cap and i was concerned. checked my data usage from AT&T and i was running about 433 - 510 mb per month (not bad). so i laid it on a nice Dish Network rep who transferred me to a customer retention specialist. nice guy and after about 45 minutes, i got the sweetest deal imaginable. 3 months Showtime free, $30 one time credit, and reduced my monthly bill $45. so now instead of paying $92.00 per month, i pay about $43.00 for the same or better. yea, it's only for one year, but next time around i'll extend the deal or then cord cut. talk to them customer retention specialists. they can do so much more than the regular Joe's.
Love the review. Simple short to the point. Got me looking hard for free streaming
Excellent presentation !
One thing I love about Roku is that I can take it to friends' homes and watch videos with them.
It is cool that it is portable. Works great on vacation at hotels with good Wi-Fi.
TechGumbo exactly!!👈😉
Mike Public a
What if they don't have WiFi? Like my parents have iPhones my sister gets for them and old TV with converter box probably no HDMI port! Is there anyway to show them Roku stuff with what they have? Would it pick up a hotspot?
We cord cut and found RUclips TV most similar to Direct TV. Only one we found that we could get our local channels on without switching to rabbit ears. Only service that will carry PBS starting in Nov.'19
depending on your location 'Rabbit ears' can net you 30+ Free channels (and with most devices going to RBG, YRW and HDMI you're Co-ax port is right there and wide open to add Rabbit Ears on top of other options
Cord cutter! Love it!
Nice...Appreciate the share.
I cut my cable and went with Roku and Sling. Even after I doubled my internet speed, I cut my cable bill in half and get SO MUCH MORE. There is no way cable survives.
Henry Gantz. Hopefully. Priced way too high, and includes channels you don't want as part of pkg. Should be able to pick desired channels as a pkg and get price quote. Dream on, right?
cable charged me enough to survive for years. they are a big ripoff
I don’t like sling especially since they want to pay for basic channels
dufus especially spectrum I was paying 175 a month with bundle then it jumped to 256 a month I was like are you people crazy I’m not paying a car note now I only pay for the WiFi and stream my bill is now 109 once GOT in hbo last espisode comes on and finishes I’m taking off the spectrum stream too
Philo tv isnt that bad. Just no sports and news but other stuff for $16
The list should have been split into two lists, one for Subscription and the other for Free. One of my favorite free channels is the Smithsonian Channel.
Amen
👍
Some are both, I have a free subscription for the Peacock network, I have to sign in, but there's no fee or credit card needed. Even though it's free I can't watch if I don't sign up.
RUclips TV for cord cutters in now on Roku for $35/month. The major networks and cable channels are provided, with heavy emphasis on sports. Cloud Video recording for later playback is also included at no additional charge.
Thank you, I used this information to set up my Amazon Fire.
Thank you for the list!!!!
Yay!!! At last one of these videos about roku!
Sounds like you are a Roku fan. Cool!
We like the prefix channel and I was wondering if it was available on Roku? I have it on my Apple Mac Book Pro, but have to have an MDHI cable attached. Thought that the Roku or Apple TV would cut the cord. What would be your recommendation.
Thanks man!
My crackle requires a code, but when I go to computer to put code in I cannot find a place to put the code. Why does Crackle require a code since others do not?
I liked NowhereTV on Roku. It had live and stored/curated content from local TV stations all over the country (and some abroad).
GOOD INFO ON THE AVAILABLE CHANNELS THANKS
Thank guy's. This way very informative. I might even ion.one of these. ..Ellis
I love the Curiosity Channel. It's $2.99 a month but really worth it to me. It's a science channel that covers cosmology, history, earth science, physiology, and travel. Tons more. New content is added frequently too.
CC rocks!
I have that as well. Relatively small but content is excellent and interesting and only $3 a month . You have to want to see history and science instead of silly comedy movies, of course, which isn't everybody. Some people would be better off with Popcorn.
TLC the learning channel used to be like this back in early 2000s now they just show reality tv ...
pluto tv. thumbs up
myozbubble ii
Great channel with excellent Quality content I have subscribed now. Cheers from MX.
Pedro Galvez i
Pedro Galvez hola pedro sabes que aplicaciones están disponibles o valen la pena en mexico.
👍 Thanks for the info, well done 😳
Anyone know how to get the OTA guide and streaming (Roku live) at the same time? Some how I managed to get it while watching ota but I switched to another app and then it was gone when I went back.
ROKU is all we watch on our Samsung and Vizio TVs. We just cut the cord 2 wks ago and subscribe to CBS Access, Netflix, and Hulu. ALL OUR SHOWS on on those 3. I already had Amazon Prime, so we can get new movies there. ROKU IS AWESOME!
fire tv is alot better to get content free.......Watch any movie or tv show ya want for free...
Well I use the Google Play Store, which I think is pretty good. I can stream my movies on any PC or android. My next move may be storing torrents on an OTG stick though.
I just bought my roku tv 2months ago I'm in love with it the best I had💯
I love my roku but my own personal top 20 is quite different. You just have to filter through to find your own personal favorites
With so many choices it is great to have a service that screens out the chafe so I can shorten my time to evaluate cord cutting.
I LOVE Roku! My favorite channel is Pluto. 24 hour Rifftrax and MST3K, does not get any better than that.
FanTV is an app I use to search a particular series or movie. It will tell which app it's available to watch, if any.
It's an app on my iPad.
I raised my thumb as soon as I heard your comment about Cheaters and the Kardashians!
Wow, Good stuff!
Would be great if you also did channels that are available in Canada Please and thank you
RUclipsTV is a better service than most because your locals are included at no extra charge. And a great interface. If you do us Pluto TV and you have an OTA antenna it will automatically bring your local channels into it's interface. No need to leave the app to watch local programming.
Popcorn flix may have offered commercial free option when this was posted. I can't any find any option for that now. Also Spotify was yanked
about 6 months ago.
I'm am so definitely buying a Roku whenever I get a Chance and I can't Wait
If you got an old tv that you’re thinking of getting rid of as well, spring for twofer & get a Roku TV.
I would like to see a list of great FREE channels thats why we are cord cutters. We dont want to pay to watch shows. After all the wifi is expensive enough.
get kodi
get iptv, a box will run 80-100 bucks last 4-6 years and iptv runs 10 bucks a month if ya pre pay 6 months. we get 3000 stations and on demand, ppv sports! live tv etc big list...
RUclips is the answer! Has every venue, free.
@@Djb1976 LIES
Have you tried Pluto? I love this channel!
I stick with the free channels. Don’t wanna pay!!!
Yes true if they have wi fi
can you advise as to how Rou TVcan be used for storing /presenting of videos that a business might create or have created by a third party for the business to use, but don't want to have the general public or its competitors use or see.
How do u hook it up for u youtube i don't know where to to put the letter after i did the .com thing
When you say or any other device does that include I could install these Roko channels on my LG Smart TV(I don't have Roko)?
Ryan Ferraresi roku* grammar Nazis here
Six ... seven commercials in a row on Pluto TV ...? That's not free, that's abuse.
crackle is the same way
ThinkerThunker
Pretty much ditto on Hulu, lately. That's for the $7.99 a month with ads level. And if you want to rewatch part of a show you have to watch ALL of the ads, all over again! Any more entire months of just watching You Tube, I might dump Hulu!
What about cable
It has commercials too
best for my money for sure...Keep it comming
This is just a suggestion but you should set up a Roku package for cord cutters with the selection of packages possibly numbering up to five of suggestions for Roku cord cutters with a complete list of what to do and procedures to follow
Thanks you for the heads up. I'm in the process of Buying and ROKU (TCL Flat Screen 55") Wal-Mart as the best price for his device or (Law-A-Way).....LOL
Hi Smoove, did you buy a soundbar for your TV? Please advise because those things are kinda expensive. Also, I have a bunch of speakers from previous entertainment systems and wonder if there's a way I can connect them to my TCL. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@@tryme566 Hello Miss Kate, no I have not purchase an sound bar as of yet. But check out Amazon. Com might find one with good rating.
@@tryme566 You have would to try and convert your speakers through surround sound maybe I don't know your setup.
Pluto is amazing and always adding new channels. They also have great streaming music channels that are all commercial free that nobody ever talks about. Better than the Music Choice channels with Comcast. All Genres and types.
Good to know.I know I recently added NetFlix since I have it on my phone & kindle. But I like knowing more about the channels listed & this helps. Cool!
Thanks Just bought the Roku(RW)3600 streaming stick, HSN had a special 2pkg. deal, they also offered 2 months subscription to history vault & few others..so It seemed time to get them.. eventually looks like I will be dropping cable, just keep internet & Roku..can choose what I like ..
Charles Philipone. Except pay channels not in your chosen pkg (Most movies I want to see are NOT in my pkg, surprise!). But still love Roku.
crackle can drive you insane with some of their commercials
I agree. Some of the other dedicated genre channels are like that. I love dedicated horror channels and they'll play the same commercial over and over. Argh!
I had crackle for about an hour couldn’t take the commercials deleted it 😡😤
I use crakleD on Kodi it removes all the ads. :)
artemismeow how do you do that?
FiFi LaDouche Hulu used to be like that
I love Plex but the only down side is that you have to have your computer turned on to able to play it on Roku. Great video anyway. I got Roku and some of those things you mentioned I didn't know about. Now I know. :-D
Thanks! Sometimes there is content that people don't want stored on a cloud-based service like Dropbox. Many don't want their government or hacking groups getting easier access to their content. Being able to use a PC is most of the time safer than utilizing a company to stream your content.
I have plex myself but im not sure if your awared but i got a infringement notice from spectrum didnt think that was possible but turns out i wasnt the only one found out on google and found several people who had the same problem.
I guess now there waching what content we have in our plex library :/
hi this is Rosemary Byrd I'm really enjoying all these kids on my Roku have a Roku Express and it's really helped me a lot
How can I use the "RUclips music" app on my Roku TV's ?
On my computer I can access RUclips music via the RUclips apps icon.
But I can't find RUclips Music on my Roku TV. I can't find it via streaming channels
and it is not listed under the Music apps available
can't believe they won't allow xtv that was how we got local news what the heck..
newson is good. there are also local channels too that you can get if your news makes one.
Wow! Some of the channels you recommend aren't available on my Roku :(
Do u you have to pay premium when u add Spotify I rlly need Spotify on my tv so I can listen on my phone and tv when guest are here
Cutting the cord has been a money saver for me, I also have Pluto on my iPhone. I also have media box, Coto movies and movie box, I just sit at home and watch movies that are still playing in theaters. If your not familiar with those go to app valley vip on your iPhone . Or on your non iPhone , go to your google play store and look up those or even show box, tons of movies dating back to the 40’s till today
Thanks that I want 😍😍
Cool!
X TV is the best channel i have found , so much better than all 20 of these , plus no ads and it's free ,
Another very informative video, as most of your videos are, Techgumbo.
does pluto offer current tv shows on their on demand library?
Sling should be added, it is a subscription service.
Other great streaming apps not included in this video are VUDU, Big Star Movies, 24/7Horror, Halloween Flix, XUMO, and Binge Horror.
Just got Roku thanks
Vudu is a great app. I have loaded all the walmart $5 videos that had a vudu option and the dvds and bluerays that that I bought that had that digital copy to vudu which it is a free app for the stuff you either add to it or buy and you can rent a movie or tv show. I remember watching the Walking Dead on it when I cut the cable. It was way cheaper to buy the season and then watch the shows about 4 hours after they air with out any commercials than cable.
Pluto.Simpily the best!!
Does Roku have Acorn the British channel
Anyone know how to take a RCA equipment and turning into a age is Bdmi have a new TV and my old bone box won't work on my TV because it don't receive RCA was the best way for me to turning into a HPm[
Plex requires to be installed to PC which is turned ON. Roku media player (dlna clinet), on the other hand, can can play media from a NAS drive. Better solution imho.
I have a Roku stick not everything is free I just wish it would work with my Alexa
Does it also get Redbox? Love your videos, thank you.
Yes it does.
i can down load the channel but when i go to watch a movie a err comes up and says im not autherized to this channel to contact cable provider
Thanks. Good list. I have most of the free apps listed and I like them. I'm still on cable and can't justify spending any more money for the other apps.
The original XTV was the best Roku app ever.
i agree right on , thee best .
Yep and i miss xtv.
Mn
Facts!!! I watched all the bond movies on their!
How do I get my local channels do I need to call somebody or how do I purchase local channels
I purchased a antenna with my Roku T.V. and I get my local channels that way. Your question is a year old, you may have already figured that out yourself already. Lol 😆
Kanopy - just need a library card and there is a 5 movie per month limit. But it is 100% Free and good.
Best of all, with Plex your DirecTV or Charter Speculum DVR becomes irrelevant if you aren't into or unable to accommodate appointment TV. Just add the main networks (NBC, ABC, etc.) to the Channels section and your missed OTA shows will be there within a day or two. Nothing like a Sunday evening unwind with Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, The Middle, and SNL...
Most cities have good digital signals you can grab with a 40 antenna
