People always seem to find something to complain about. That traffic sounds terrible. You still got pretty colors on an epic summit with a friend! Sounds like a great way to spend a day!
I was in Jackman, ME, I’m 65 and totality was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The drive home, which normally takes two hours, took six and I would do it again without hesitation.
Took me 4.5 hours from New Haven CT to Montpelier Vt and 8 hours on the way back. Worth every minute of driving it was a valuable life experience to see totality
That is crazy that people made such horrible comments! I think it is amazing that you climbed a mountain and watched it from such a cool place!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
At 64 years old, and a resident of S. Nahamsha I decided this was probably my only chance to see totality. We have a p[ace near Gorham and planned a long weekend of it. We knew there would be traffic but we brought our own food and water. We went up rt. 16 and stopped near the Pontook reservoir. It was an awesome thing to witness! The drive back to Gorham was just under 4 !/2 hours though. No regrets. Your experience on the ridge looked awesome too! If Were younger I might have done something like that. Thanks for sharing
You enjoyed the eclipse and shared your experience with others and that is what it is all about. In 2017, I lived about an hour's drive (in normal traffic) away from the line of totality and did the same as you--- opted for a place outside of the crowds and where I would not get stuck in post-eclipse traffic. I had a lovely eclipse experience at a local park, with people from all walks of life and all ages. The sun was 97% covered where I was at the time.
Eclipse your own eclipse! I live in Boston and chose to watch from a state park only about 20 minutes from home that was at 93%. Still super cool, and allowed me to avoid traffic, not be somewhere super crowded, and fit within my schedule this week.
I saw it about 15 miles south of Portland Maine. It was totally sureal and I enjoyed every minute. I was all set with fighting traffic to get totality also. The temp dropped 11 degrees at its greatest coverage. I actually got some pics by putting the glasses over my phone camera. You experienced something amazing at an incredible location, and IMO missed absolutely nothing, Taylor. 😊 Your friends snowmen and the Nahamsha burp were comedic gold. 😂 Great video and thank you! ✌️
Having seen the 2017 from Connecticut, we decided to go for totality and view it from Colebrook, NH. We stayed two nights in Gotham and drove to Colebrook from Gorham very early in the morning without traffic. In the way back we went via Dixville notch and Mahoosic notch encountering heavy traffic in a couple of area. We got back to Gotham around 8:30 PM. You would have had more traffic than we did so your decision was sound.
I watched it from a park in my little town in Massachusetts. (93% totality) It was amazing! No traffic…No people…When it was over, I was home in 5 minutes! Your experience will be remembered for a lifetime! Naysayers will remember theirs too, but for very different reasons! 🚗 🚙 🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙
Great video. Love the Oreo demonstration. You continue being your own person and being awesome. What a great view you had. I was working but I got to go outside and see it. We had about 95% coverage.
I watched the 93.9% eclipse from my back yard in a suburb of Chicago, and I thought it was pretty amazing. Your hike and the eclipse up in the mountains with a 360-degree view was beyond awesome!!! So glad you shared it!
I was in totality up in Pittsburg, NH for the eclipse. It was unbelievably amazing and I’ll definitely try to experience it again. Your view from the ridge was absolutely gorgeous! The change in temperature was really wild. Overall I think we completely lucked out in New Hampshire because everyone was saying that April 8th was historically a cloudy day. I even got a sunburn.
Watched from the summit of a mountain in the Adirondacks near the center of the path of totality. So lucky to have zero traffic there or back from where I live, though the summit was as busy as a summer weekend. Seriously, if you have the chance one day to make it to a path of 100% totality, you'll be blown away at the difference from even 99.99%. Seeing the corona and solar flares of the sun with my naked eyes was so much more beautiful than I could've imagined. Glad you got the experience you were looking for, and thanks for bringing us along!
I was backpacking Isle Royale on August 21, 2017 when we had an eclipse. It was strange because everything got very quiet as it got dark. And it was an eerie ambient light. Was it total? I’m not sure but it was dark enough for me. It looked like a good time for you and your friend. Any time in nature is good 👍
Nice hike episode on the eclipse. I will never think of an Oreo the same again. We did 95% in MA but did 100% years ago in Columbia SC. Traffic leaving 100% area then was outrageous. Thanks for your coverage. Nice BUUURP! 👍👍👍
Austin, Texas, was in the path of totality, too. We got to see it from our own house. Unfortunately the sky that day was predicted to be covered with clouds. But luckily for us, a hole in the clouds opened right at the time of the eclipse! It was so cool! The photosensitive street lights came on and birds flocked to their night time roosting spots. We were so lucky that the eclipse was on Monday and not Tuesday, because Tuesday was super stormy with thunderstorms and full cloud cover.
I think your view was amazing; this is one of my favorite hikes. We went up to Northern Vermont in the line of totality, without the crowds. I think you made an awesome choice. I also saw the sunset view. The whole thing was just awesome.
In New York we saw partial and it was still really cool. Crazy how it shows with the eclipse glasses but not on camera. I thought the same thing. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
you are so funny!!! I was working during the eclipse it was raining, but alot of us went out in front of our building. Got a quick glimpse of the eclipse. fun memory.
We saw totality in Middlebury, VT which is about 40 minutes north from where I live in VT. We didn't experience any traffic issues, but I would have sat in hours of traffic to get just one more minute to experience totality - it was incredible. With that said, some people just didn't see it as anything they needed to chase and that's fine, it doesn't impact me in any way. It's unfortunate you had people griefing you about your choice. It looks like it was a beautiful day and a fun hike - you got what you wanted, so that's all that matters! Thank you for sharing!
It looks so spectacular! I saw totality from a roadside field in Morristown VT. My family and I took less traveled roads from Lebanon NH. The normally 1.5 hour drive back took 3.5 hours with 2 brief stops, but we left right after the eclipse, avoided interstate highways and only had a couple of real slowdowns.
I enjoyed your video, the weather really cooperated for most everybody. I left Jackson NH with my son at about 1:50pm and arrived at Danville VT scenic outlook on route 2 with a view of the whites about 3:15pm to meet up with my daughter and her friend. I had to wait until my son got home from school to depart. We had no traffic delays on the way and only about 15 minutes extra going home via route 93 & 302. It definitely was worth the drive for the totality view. I know a lot of people who went north on route 16 who spent hours going home. I think we just lucked out going west instead of north. Traffic looked bad around St Johnsbury with lots of cars pulled over all around.
Can confirm the traffic in path of totality we were in Stowe VT and we were in the car for 16 hours getting home to PA. Got home at 6:30 the next day. Normally only takes us 8 hours.
I was doing a long section hike on day of the last eclipse and was on Franconia Ridge! I didn’t even know it was happening. It was absolutely amazing. Glad you went to see this one. Signage
Good for you!! My friend and I headed up to Dome Rock and no one else was there. The experience was amazing and was able to head back to Maine with only a little traffic coming out of the Wildcats. Love the Oreo cookie demo!!! 😊😊
This was great!. It will be nice to have this epic memory with your friend. The oreo analogy was premium! Glad you had fun and got to zip right out of there and head North.
Very, very cool hike during the eclipse. So much fun with the Oreo description too!! Thanks for taking us along, best video. People neednto chill, you had great time and showed us an exciting way to see what you saw, and thank you for that
Eastern PA. We weren't in the path. I took lunch at 230 and it was full sun. Clouds rolled in just before it occurred. We did get to see it partially covered for a few minutes. If I had off, I definitely would have went to totality.
You had a great day and saw the moon covering the sun. That’s pretty awesome! I live in Central Maine in Pittsfield and experience d the same. It was a beautiful clear day you could feel the temperature drop and it reached about sunset level darkness. Yes Totality would have been perfect, but this was pretty awesome!
My son and I journeyed to Colebrook NH, a little West of where you observed the event. My hiking is unfortunately curtailed due to a pending knee replacement so we opted for the "close to car" experience. I'm glad you got to experience the eclipse on your terms and in the site you chose. Let the naysayers "neigh", HYOH. I believe I read that the only site on the AT that was in the path of totality was Katahdin, I certainly can't imagine you would find anything resembling solitude there (even if the peak was open) I concur on the 11 hour retreat from New England (in my case to NJ) During the totality, I was struck by two random thoughts: 1) I could see how an eclipse could terror to our primitive ancestors and 2) The phenomenal math skills or less primitive ancestors developed to predict times and paths prior the the advent of the computer!! Great report! I kind of wondered what the view of the valley from the whites would have looked like: Thanks for the report.
Any eclipse whether partial or full is very cool. We only had 85% in my part of PA but it was still cool to watch and feel the temp change. You had a great hike and perfect spot to watch from. It's a shame people can't keep their negativity to themselves.
One of your most fun (funny) videos! At the 7:30 mark in your video...was that a meteor coming in through the sky? We live in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York State, not in the path of totality, but just below it. It was complete cloud cover and it got really dark and greenish!
I was in dallas tx. In the path of totality. It was so awesome. But it was not from the top of a mountain. So good for you for seeing it how you wanted to!
I watched it from Watatic in MA. I had the day off for months. But life happened and I am also happy I did not go up North as I didn't have a sub for the next day and well, my kids are, um, unique. Not too many people, no traffic either way. Still an awesome time. And yes, I was happy to have my XTherm and quilt. My friend said there was still traffic up north at 6am on Tuesday.
Just being on the top of a mountain is amazing! I was able to see the eclipse in totality in Missouri, but I would trade that for the top of the Whites!❤
I agree you might have missed the totality, but you also missed the several hours of traffic that followed. i viewed the eclipse in northern Vermont, and i left at 8pm, and didn't get home in southern NH till 2am, but i ended up going through Crawford notch to avoid it. If i knew better i would have waited till the next day. For me the traffic literally eclipsed the eclipse itself lol. A lot of people from out of state didn't understand Franconia notch goes down to one lane and that made for a huge back up. I think you had a great view regardless and still a cool experience overall.
I enjoyed your tik tok and this video. Such a cool view. We went to the totality area closest to us. It was an amazing experience. We were fortunate to not experience traffic there or home. It was something we worried about and almost stayed home. Ultimately it worked out for us but that isn’t always the case. I’m glad you stuck to your guns.
I watched in only in 76% totality but some neat occurrences still happened that happened while watching in complete totality in Clemson SC last time...the crickets and cicadas came out to sing like it was evening or night time! and the double shadows (although not quite as evident) could still be made out from the tree leaves....such a neat thing!
Loved this Vlog and seeing that you were ready and excited for something so special. -- You always find the JOY in your JOurneY...because you've learned to savor life... - I lived in the 2017 E. Path and was forever changed by that 3 min of seeing (as you did) the Power of our Star. You bet I was in the 2024 PATH - I was blessed to have great weather also in Arkansas - An 11-hour drive from home going. I experienced heavy traffic going out (but only an hour of crawl for me) but it was so worth it. _ no kidding -- I may go to the Jul 22 2028 Eclipse in Australia...I will be too old to drive myself to another state to view by 2045.
I’m still crying about how I’ve been waiting 7 years for this eclipse after missing it in 2017 but it was so cloudy where I was Monday that we couldn’t see the sun at all during totality 😭 you had a better view than we did in full cloud cover, I wanted to see the 360° sunset and we did not.
I thought it was actually very cool that it was obviously dark over there, but you turn around and it looks like normal daytime. I am in Chicago so we only got to 94% here, still very cool and I didn't have to sit in traffic either.
My sister viewed an eclipse in Western Kentucky to witness in a path of totality and spent 9 hours to make a normally 2 hour return trip due to the huge traffic. Like hiking the AT … hike your own hike. ❤😊 PS Your freind was hilarious. Great sense of humor. Love the snowman.. ❤😊
Loved your video! Nicely done and looked like you really enjoyed the experience. Your location decision made sense. It looked really cool. I did experience the total eclipse on the east shore of Lake Ontario. Was amazing but a bit cloudy. Took 9 hours to get home from a normal 4 1/2 hour drive. Thanks for sharing the cool content!!
I Watched it from central Vermont from my hometown. I89 goes right through here. It was massive traffic for 3-4 days because they wanted totality. I dint have time or energy for that much travel, but it definitely would have been worth it if a person had the time and made arrangement to stay over for a couple of night. It was literally night and day between where I was and an hour or so north. Enjoyed your fun video.
I live in Maine and was in DC during the eclipse - had a great experience for what I visited for (obvi nothing related to the eclipse) and literally don’t care that I “missed out.” It’s funny how people get so emotionally escalated during events like this. Main thing is - next week people won’t talk about it anymore and it will be on the the next thing.
Hi Taylor! I watched the eclipse from Pittsburg to catch totality. It was amazing, but you’re right to have been concerned about traffic. It took me over 12 hours to get home, and I never made it to Franconia Notch. Had to take Crawford Notch instead.. way longer in miles, but less traffic by that point. Totally understand your choice!
Taylor; you and your friend had a great day, saw some amazing views and got exactly what you wanted out of the eclipse; wonderful. Don’t pay attention to naysayers who often times just want to be contrary to get a “rise” out of you. Ignore them; makes them crazier !!
If I were to bet on it, I'd believe that oreo sun and oreo moon eventually got sucked into a black hole and were crushed by the pressure. 👍Nice video Taylor! Sorry you didn't get to see totality ( I did). Yes, it is worth it!
Great video!! I wanted to be in New Hampshire for the eclipse, but didn't have time to travel. Franconia would be my choice. I had a great time in my back yard right on the center line.
Can’t believe people are so petty as to try and diminish your trip. They probably didn’t even go outside!! Love your videos and positive outlook in life.
Having had a morning commitment, I didn't hit the road from Massachusetts till noon. So for me I was how far can I get. TL;DR .... I got to Kinsman Notch at 3pm and found a scenic turnout to park at.
I wasn’t making an effort to see it, but I ended up being at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia as it was happening, so I stuck around to watch. We only got about 85% there, but it’s still cool to watch. Don’t know why people felt so strongly that they had to be rotten in your comments about it. I went to my sister’s in SC to see the 2017 one. We were in totality there, but it got clouded over. Couldn’t look up and see the eclipse, but still got to experience the sudden darkness, which was cool. But then on the drive home it took twice as long as usual, just crawling along. So I’d say your not getting totality but still getting that awesome faux-sunset view without the traffic was a good call.
I live in Franklin and went to Colebrook to view the eclipse. It was a great day with family. However, it did take 8 hours to drive home even though I avoided Franconia Notch.
I was in the 100% coverage zone. And I was able to watch the eclipse with my neighbors from downstairs on my balcony, loll! It was magical! It was fantastic! 😎🌞🌚
We stayed in Jackson and drove up to Dixville Notch. We found a spot with only about 8 people and enjoyed totality.....well worth the 5 hours it took to drive back to Jackson. The most important thing is you were able to do what you wanted to do and had fun doing it. I consider myself one of the lucky ones that was able to take a 4 day weekend with the wife end really take in the moment while having the option of heading home on Tuesday. If you can make that trip to your brothers and enjoy. lol
I live in RI the weather channel said the temp would drop 9 degrees. Nope. I guess it was only 90% but I thought that would be noticeable. Nope if I didn't know better I'd have figured a cloud went by. Felt bad that I didn't drive up to NH until I heard about the traffic.
I drove to Lyndonville, VT to see 100%. Was worth it. We scrambled for the highway as soon as it started getting light again and the commute home was only 1 hour longer due to traffic since we were in front of the "wave" heading south. People who left later had much longer rides.
My home near Columbus was four miles from totality, so I drove a short distance to a nearby state park. I sat by myself on the banks of a lake to watch, and it turned out to be the single coolest thing I've ever seen. It would have been even better with oreos.
Personally, I went Gananoque Ontario to experience totality. Knew NY would be a madhouse. Totality is incredible! Saw it in 2017 and again this time around. I think 99.4% on a beautiful summit with a few folks is a great way to experience the event.
Mission accomplished! Don’t listen to the naysayers. Plus, Oreos and time with a good friend were bonuses! Thanks for sharing
Hey Taylor
Those oreo demos were comedy gold!
People always seem to find something to complain about. That traffic sounds terrible. You still got pretty colors on an epic summit with a friend! Sounds like a great way to spend a day!

Yeah.. I'll gladly drive 12 hours anywhere for that again. 99% and totality are two very different experiences
This was one of the most fun videos you’ve ever done! Loved the Oreo demo, It really made me feel like I experienced the eclipse at 100% totality 😉

Your experience will be remembered for a lifetime! Naysayers will remember theirs too, but for very different reasons! 🚗 🚙 🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙
As always enjoyed your vlog of the hike and the eclipse on the mountain. I support your hiking objective 100% and you completed it. Take care.
Great video. Love the Oreo demonstration. You continue being your own person and being awesome. What a great view you had. I was working but I got to go outside and see it. We had about 95% coverage.

Lots of fun. The Oreo demo was pure brilliance!

Nice BUUURP! 👍👍👍
I'm 74 years old. Watched it on TV from southern NH. My daughter lives in Bethlehem. She said traffic was insane and still heavy at 11 PM.
Left Pittsburg at 3:40pm. Got home to Nashua at 5am
Austin, Texas, was in the path of totality, too. We got to see it from our own house. Unfortunately the sky that day was predicted to be covered with clouds. Hey, you were wide. Glad you had fun. Thank you for sharing.
That was supposed to be wise instead of wide. So sorry
you are so funny!!! I was working during the eclipse it was raining, but alot of us went out in front of our building. Got a quick glimpse of the eclipse. fun memory.
Thanks for sharing video! You did what you wanted to do, that is all that matters.

Love this video! I didn’t want to take off work so watched from my house in Maryland with 88% totality. No regrets!
Its amazing how much light the sun provides at just 1%
Can confirm the traffic in path of totality we were in Stowe VT and we were in the car for 16 hours getting home to PA. Got home at 6:30 the next day. Normally only takes us 8 hours.
What a great video! Soooo glad this cured my "Taylor Withdrawal syndrome" that I was suffering from...😂👍👏🏻🥰🎉🎉🎉🎉
It was practically nothing here in NC. I enjoyed your vlog and you seemed happy with your view. I thought the sunset part was great. 💕
I was doing a long section hike on day of the last eclipse and was on Franconia Ridge! I didn’t even know it was happening. It was absolutely amazing. Glad you went to see this one. Signage
I think you planned it perfectly, great views, great hike, cool solar eclipse sunset, and minimal traffic … amazing. 👏

Hopefully. By the time they hiked down there might already have been cars arriving from Lancaster and points North
I could not think of a better place than Franconia Ridge! I would love to live that close. My favorite place on the AT!
Absolutely insane spot to watch this once in a lifetime event!!
I totally enjoyed the video, I saw the eclipse in Southport Nc in the parking lot of Lowe’s lumber lol
What fun! Loved the Oreo simulation. 😂
Great video and loved your Oreo demonstrations. You are just too cute. lol.
like they say, hike your own hike, eclipse your own eclipse. good video, thk u for sharing
Very cool video and adventure. Thank you for sharing with us.
Who cares what others say, you got the experience you wanted! I'm so tired of people thinking they know what's best for someone else.
I live about 2 hours from the Adirondack mountains- we should have journeyed there, it was so cloudy in central New York 😢 Great view for you!
How friggin' awesome to be on Franconia Ridge for the eclipse! Such a cool experience. 🙌🏻
Another great video thanks for letting us follow along
Loved it!!!! What an Epic place for the Eclipse! I watched it out the window in an office closet w a view! 😂
If I were to bet on it, I'd believe that oreo sun and oreo moon eventually got sucked into a black hole and were crushed by the pressure. 👍Nice video Taylor! Sorry you didn't get to see totality ( I did). Yes, it is worth it!
I enjoyed your video. Thought about driving to Arkansas to see totality, but opted to stay home and avoid the traffic. Maybe next time.
Hike your own hike! Live your own life. You don't need to justify why you did what you did. Beautiful views Taylor! ❤
We saw the eclipse in Upstate New York and I was super surprised how little traffic there was!! I was so nervous but nah it wasn’t bad at all
Here in pa it was to clowdy was able to see it someone played the song total ecips of the heart
Thanks for filming and sharing! Beautiful views! Don’t give the naysayers any energy.
You did great. It looked beautiful from up there.
Fun video. Loved the Oreo science lesson. Good day with no crowds. Nothing to see down in Louisiana.😊❤
I was "across the street" from ya on the summit of cannon 🤘
Personally, I went Gananoque Ontario to experience totality. Knew NY would be a madhouse. Totality is incredible! Saw it in 2017 and again this time around. I think 99.4% on a beautiful summit with a few folks is a great way to experience the event.
