Built this project today. Modified it a tad for a higher rise. Came out perfect. FYI for the folks looking for plans. Just pause the video in the beginning. The plans are right next to the CAD drawing. You need (4)- 2x4x8. Cheap 2" casters. 3" screws. And (2)- 3/8" bolts @ 8" length. (2)- 3/8" wingnuts, and some washers. You don't need a TV mount either. You can just make one with wood.
did you build it for outdoor use? What type of wood did you use? just pine or treated?
@@timc7798 Indoor use. Standard pine lumber urethaned. For outdoor use, treated and deck sealer.
Hi, I know you posted this comment 4 years ago, but I am curious if you widened the base on your stand since you made this stand for a higher rise.
Excellent design and very easy to follow instructions . I used that as the backbone then built a cabinet around it for my covered patio.
Just built this and the one part of this step that I’d modify would be to sand ALL SIDED of the boards used in the upper and lower arms BEFORE glueing and assembling them together. The tolerances on this design are razor thin and my arms didn’t slide that well after assembly. But since everything was already glued and assembled I could really only sand the outside sections of each arm and not the inside sections since I couldn’t fit an or orbital sander in between the inner arm board. Having the inside edges sanded will really help everything slide better.
thanks... great video... Just hung a TV on wall in garage, but decided I wanted to make it mobile to move out to backyard patio ( second 7ft garage door on back of garage so easy to roll out to patio once I build something like this) ... was thinking of adding a plywood bottom to the base and then pouring in some concrete for added weight to help avoid tipping. but again thanks for the video - I was torn on deciding what height, and then saw your video with the adjustable height.
I wanted to thank you for this project. I am a teacher here on a little island called aruba and at the moment we are doing 90% of classes at home. And this stand helps me so i can make a make shift studio for recording classes for my studio. The prices for metal stands like these on the island go around $225 🙈. This one cost me about $40 to make. I am definitely subscribing to your channel awaiting to see more great and practical ideas👍😊
I'm so happy to hear your story, Ray! That's awesome that you were able to save some money building yours. Wishing you all the best with your at-home classes and your recording.
Aruba! Home of Xander! And your neighboring island Curacao home of my current neighbor in Los Angeles, Kenley Jansen. Love the vibe from players from those two islands. Incredibly nice people. In fact, Kenley's number for the Dodgers is 74. 74 is the street address of his childhood home in Curacao. Legend!
This is awesome!!! Could you reupload the blueprints? It appears that they are no longer available.
I made it! Holds my 55" no problem. Thanks for the blueprint! I really appreciate it!
can you build me wone
call me 361 444 44580
Hi can you please email me the plans as I can't find them anymore. thabeardedbrothaa@gmail.com
Hey Michael... it looks like he doesn’t have the plans anymore. Would you be willing to share yours?
Awesome instruction for this project. I built one in a few hours. Thank you for sharing.
I built one similiar to this ... not quite as nice but it got the job done, the wife tells me that im a $ cheap $ ass ...
friends and relatives were quite impressed and said i did an awesome job ...
Just did it best thing ever happened to my small bedroom
what a cool idea at last i wasnt the only one who thought of this. I really liked your video.
Found the cutlist: start with - (4) 2"x4"x8'
1st 2x4 - cut to 36", 24", 24", 3 1/2"
2nd 2x4 - cut to 36", 32", 20", 3 1/2"
3rd 2x4 - cut to 32", 32", 20" 8"
4th 2x4 - cut to 20", 7 1/2", 7 1/2"
Thanks for this! Took me forever to find the file (I thought it was gone forever) but I found it and uploaded it here: lrn2diy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/portable_tv_stand_cut_list2.pdf
Legend! So helpful by putting all the information out there for viewers to make their own DIY project! :) Double thumbs up! Hoping to view more such videos and tutorials from you ! Best wishes
Awesome way to build it! Thanks for the video
I wanna make something similar to this and paint it black for a 2x2 mobile tv cart thanks for the video!!
I will be trying this.
I loved this
Nice! How large of a tv can it hold?
Oh snap check it out, you made another video. I was just browsing around and came across a couple videos of yours that I liked and decided to subscribe just a week or so ago, just to get disappointed when I went to your channel and saw you hadn't made a video in months. I even thought about unsubscribing and bam, you make a new one. Keep up the great videos. Very informative and usually fairly easy stuff once you break it down.
This is such an amazing idea thank you
Excellent video but I have one question. Can the TV be turned from landscape to portrait orientation with your design? The reason I ask is that I want to store this in a closet that would only be large enough if the screen could be adjusted to portrait orientation. Thank you.
What a great build!!
Never trust a man who uses Elmer's wood glue!
I kid I kid....great plans. My building is great; my engineering? Not so much. This helped.
Can't seem to find the plans on your site. Still have them?
Good job!
from KL
Looking for the plans/ cut list. Want to make a stand for outside deck. Thanks for posting your projects.
Same here, the link provided results in a page not found for the cutout pdf file.
Nice video!
I wouldn't paint it to "make it look more presentable".... I want people to KNOW I made that bad boy LOL!!! Nice, I'm not much into carpentry or whatever but this looks easy enough.
Awsome stuff! You deserve more veiws!
The mounting bracket is supposed to be part of the DIY
The Link to the Cut list isn't on your website any more can i get a copy of it?
All you have to do is be a carpenter with all the tools and we can start building a tv Stand ..... ill use slotted angle a spanner and a hacksaw.... LET's DO THIS!!
Awesome
Looks like a great project but the link to your site errors out... Can you update your link?
Excellent thank you! I will try soon because i need one. Just one question, i suppose measure are in pouces, right ?
Maybe I am dumb, but I can not find the plans for the adjustable TV stand
Awesome 👏
I am needing a tv stand similar to this that can be seen over peoples heads at a trade show, what would i need to change to in the measurements to make the wood long enough for that? Thank you!!
The only change you should need to make is to make either the lower 3 2x4s on the neck or the upper 2 2x4s on the neck taller. You could make them all longer if you want more adjustability and you might consider making the feet longer if you need better balance at the increased height but it may not be necessary.
Thank you so much!
Excellent!!!!
Great Video! How much weight do you think it could support? I am thinking of using this for a 65" tv about 50 pounds. I do not want to drill holes into the concrete wall.
I'm confident that the stand could hold 50 lbs so you just need to make sure the mount you choose can support that as well. One like this, for example (amzn.to/310yjh2) could handle a whole lot more.
I feel like getting the after market mount negates the whole thing. I was looking forward to this orogect being entirely diy minus the wood, screws, and glue.
Looks Crate!! I mean great!
Could it be compatible with 75 inch tv
The link is broken
Nice job thank you
COOOOL 👍👍👍
Can you re-upload the plans they are missing
What if I have a curved 65 inch tv?
Do you make this for other people
Looking for link for tv mount. Was hoping to find one that also spins 90 degrees
Or even 360
Degrees. I want to use it as an artist
Easel.
👍👍👍👍
Curious if it would hold my 65 inch vizio
Ijust subscribed.
Suggest locking wheels
Donde encuentro la plantilla con las medidas?
Nils, its been a while since you post another great video. Did you finish your basement ? I got my basement framing completed. I rand all the electrical outlets wiring , just need to do some cat5 and some lightings then I am done so I can start drywalls.
Hey Liem, yeah it's been too long. Basement's all done and came out great but I've had several videos take priority over the basement videos, but I'll get to them. Awesome that you're done framing and wiring! Keep up the good work and keep in touch!
What is the size of tv can that hold.
Link to cutlist isn't working
WhT is the biggest TV this will hold?
Can someone tell me how many bolts, washers, Wings nuts are there
At 4:45, it shows it - you just need two bolts, two washers and two wing nuts.
Up to what size will it hold?
What size is the TV you used here? What sort of weight do you think the stand could support?
I'm pretty sure this is either a 39" or 42". It supports it really well but does start to get tipsy if I put the TV way off to the side, which the TV mount allows. Weight-wise, I think it can handle quite a bit - maybe even 100lbs or more so long as you're not trying to move the TV too far away from that top arm. The size of the base and TV mount are the two biggest factors.
Great. Thanks for the reply. I recently upgraded to a 4K TV for our living room, and now there is a 60" (the old TV) that is collecting dust, begging to be a shop TV.
DIY Nils what camera do you use because the quality is AMAZING!
Thanks, George. I started shooting on a Canon 70D sometime last year and used a Canon 7D before that. The main factor in the image is the glass though - I use a Sigma DC 30mm F/1.4 lens and I love it. The low light capabilities are fantastic (because of the 1.4 aperture). Thanks for watching!
Any chance we can get the pdf uploaded again, trying to knock this out within the next couple days
I just clicked on the link in the description and it worked just fine. What link are you trying?
very impressvie
How stable is it?
Cut list won't load
Can we get the plans for this?
Finally found the plans! lrn2diy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/portable_tv_stand_cut_list2.pdf
I would buy that how much for 1 of those
Whitch do u prefer for heavey work impact drill there not very common to see for sale or force driver
I love my impact drill for anything heavier duty. It works great and is lighter to carry as well.
I bought plans from stodoys and I made it very fast.
Can you share the plans?
You mentioned that you Used a 7/16" Drill bit. Do you think the 3/8" screw will fit with 3/8" drill bit or will that be counter productive? I am just thinking cost wise and the structure of the Stand because I intend on adding Mounts for two of my game systems. So the more snug fit the better?
The bigger the better there. The idea is that the bolts have plenty of room to slide through the holes and aren't getting caught in the holes. Any way that you can arrange for them to slide easily is ok. Does that make sense?
Makes Total sense! Thank you for getting back so quickly!
Links are brocken
Thanks for the heads up. Should be working now. It appears that Fleximounts no longer sells the exact same mount they sold when I made this so I found one nearly identical and linked to it.
brand new mobile stand is only 89.99, cost of material is gonna come up to 60 .. i dont see how this is justifiable to do
Do you have to use the jointer?
Definitely not required, no. It just saved me a bit of sanding. Technically you may not even need to sand if the boards are in great shape to start with. The goal is a good fit and easy sliding.
What size tv does this accommodate?
That mostly depends on the TV mount you choose and the weight of the TV. This particular setup could probably hold up to about 80 lbs safely.
I have an old plasma tv that is pretty heavy. Will it hold it?
It’s a 42 inch zenith
Depends on the mount you use with it. The hydraulic kind typically isn't designed to hold those heavier TVs but there are many mounts that could easily hold it. The stand isn't the limiting factor as much as the mount.
Could you please reupload the plans for this? I cant seem to find the cut list anywhere. If anyone here knows where to find or has the list could you post it
Finally found the plans again! lrn2diy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/portable_tv_stand_cut_list2.pdf
I'm looking for the cut list, the link takes me to a blank page
I just checked and the link is working fine - maybe try on a different browser? I’m on my iPad at the moment and it showed up right away.
The cut list link goes to a blank page, any way you can send it
You're better off buying it, it would save time and cost.
It's awesome. Can you send me 3d project?
Sadly, I lost the original files. They wouldn't be too hard to rebuild but I just looked all over and must not have saved them. So sorry about that.
do you still use it?
After almost five years of use, I just sold it. I found that I wanted to have smaller monitors closer to where I was filming so I wasn't using this one as much. It still worked great though!
what wood is that
Just pine. Standard 2x4s.
Anybody have the plans available??
The plans are in the description.
You're a fucking god! Thanks for sharing!
This must be heavy as hell...

daddy
if someone is willing to pay $130 for a swivel mount why would they build a stand for it and not just buy a tv stand with a swivel mount?
cause ppl like me can get the wood for free
because some people like DIY ? jejej and because in Mexico a TV stand is not $130 dollars but more ??
Fantastic good idea
