Zero chance that 5% of the population can deadlift 405. I bet it is sub 1%.

Dane. You work with the greatest athletes in the word. You sold me on split squats. Will you please collab with Mark Wildman? He does clubs and kettlebells. I think that the clubs and the rotational work is hugely viable as a training modality, but I want to hear the conversation from a great lifting/throws coach perspective. I think Indian clubs and big clubs are so good for shoulder health. I think Mark is the KOToes guy for upper body, and the rotational complexity is sadly missing from weightlifting/powerlifting, but not from throws I add quickly. Please give us a quick look. Maybe even talk about Bulgarian bag too. Paul Wolkivinski is such an inspiration at this age and swinging clubs and gada and etc.

My problem is joint issues and over training. I rarely increase weight. 43yrs 210#, flat bench 275# 3 reps, box squat 275# for 5 reps, incline db press 75# DBs for 12 reps, pull up 40# for 6 reps, clean and press 135# for 10 reps. I'm dealing with knee and elbow issues so its hard to stay healthy long enough to add weight to these numbers. Typically drop weight when joints beat up or take more time off. Always taking wear from jogging, MTB, soccer, MMA. Figured out I was over training over time so I'm doing less now and trying to let body recover better before figuring out a new schedule

There's no way 5% of the population can deadlift 405 pounds. Not even 5% of gym goers. Maybe not even 1%. Social media warps people's perceptions. I've been in gyms for 2 decades + and most gyms outside of powerlifting specific or crossfit specific gyms don't see a lot of people squatting 3 plates + or DLing 4 plates +. Benching 2 plates + is a little more common than either of these, but still, people are way weaker than this IRL.

I don’t mind being stupid strong. I think part of being stupid strong is completing the lift casually with minimalist equipment. No belts no wraps no screaming.

Stupid strong for me is benching 405 for reps, then getting up with it, cleaning it and then strict pressing it.

The first time I deadlifted 400 pounds was so that I could do heavier shrugs. 😂

405 deadlift really? That's the top 5% mark? We gotta fix that. First real deadlift session I pulled 330 on an EZ curl bar on my graveyard shift lunchbreak. Company gym, no free weight barbell, but an ez-curl and plates. Smith machine for squats, bench, ohp
