This was actually my favorite episode when it first aired in 2003 I was twelve years old when the show came out. This song influenced me to be a Beatles fan. It also made Brittany Snow expand her acting career.
Even today it the music still makes us happy and reminds us what a great time we lived in. How the world changed and sometimes with all the computers and cell phones it seems busy all the time. Miss those days when life was better, simpler and my family only lived a few miles from each other now we live thousands of miles from each other and can barely find time to see each other. Back then we had more time to know our community and each other and it was a great life.
Loved the show and it reminds me of my childhood and the vivid colors and the music. It simply was a smashing show and it was wonderful to see the clothes and cars again. To bad it was lost to us the fans but thank goodness Mr Clark is still with us.
I love this. I get chills watching it. I like the Beatles but you can fill this scene with any song from a "boyband" that you were obsessed with and it just brings back that feel of wanting to scream the song at the top of your lungs.
@Lele2007 I was in high school when the Beatles arrived.....it WAS fun to be young back then....The Stones....The Beatles....Elvis....etc.....so many different voices!! :)
I too thought that this was one of the best episodes on American Dreams. The way that they excitement is portrayed is amazing. Its like you can actually feel it. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD COMPLETE EPISODES TO MY COMPUTER PLEASE CONTACT ME!!! Thanks!
@llpowers it gives me chills, too man. I miss this show so much and it makes me wish was around during that time...even though I wouldn't trade my '90s childhood for anything, I would have loved to have experienced that time
Even though I'm 90's child, I soooo wanna know how it was in the 60's...Looks SOOOO amazing and fun...like, how often do you go to a dance where EVERYONE is litterally, DANCING now-a-days? This show seems really good, I feel horrible I didnt watch it when it was on the air.
Elvis's record sales were botched to make it look like he wasn't slipping under the radar because of the Beatles. When in fact he could never compete with them. He may very well be the king of rock n roll, but the Beatles have always been, and will always be bigger and better, period.
There's one small incongruity here: by the time The Beatles arrived in the U.S. in February 1964, "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" had moved from WFIL-TV in Philadelphia to ABC's Hollywood facilities....yet, in this "dimension", they're still in Philly!
hi u all, im from malaysia, this american dreams series just air in malaysian Tv abt 3 weeks ago.. i like watching it, coz of its great songs.. i love oldies. it is still aired in US? how many seasons are there?
llpowers, Nobody has ever been, or will be "bigger" than Elvis Presley. The Beatles? It took four of them to even get into "shadow" of Elvis Presley. Remember: Elvis won contest with The Beatles and Pat Boone to be named KING OF ROCK AND ROLL. Thank you, Sis
whoa!breathtaking!beatles were very popular back then!very nice way to begin the show.why did they have to cancel it though?:((American dreams was a very nice show.
BeAtLeSFaN955, By the way ..... during Elvis Presley era, a record for which both sides were #1 was counted only as one, rather than two as should have been and as is now; so, Elvis Presley actually has many more #1s that were not correctly counted, many. Thank you, Sis P.S. I first heard Elvis Presley sing on radio from Louisiana Hayride, before he was "known" and mother of an acquaintance for 40+years dated Elvis a few times. I am not just a "groupie."
So what? I look at this program as a nostalgic look into the sixties- music, fashion, etc. However, it was a mistake to move Bandstand from Philly to LA. The Philly kids were the best dancers!
Never once did I state that either could be without the other, I was simply saying that both by record sales and influence, The Beatles are better. Which, if you were not aware, is fact. Please tell me how my data is incorrect, you gave no data to prove otherwise.
I liked this show, American Dreams, very much, but the ratings weren't good enough to sustain it, because in retrospect, the show looked more like a history lession rather than a period drama. Too bad! =S
You know I don't think see the characters just dancing to the original song wouldn't have been as affective. You do need them to sing and if they sing to the original song and you can barely hear it, it wouldn't have been worth the money for the song.
samanthalynn6790, Stop meanness, please ..... AND ..... your data is incorrect, period. QUOTE from John Lennon "If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles." QUOTE from John Lennon. No more argument, accept fact. Thank you, Sis
Does this person happen to work for the RIAA, if not I'm sure they do not have the proper data to prove any point whatsoever. But allow me to put this into perspective, from the year 2000 to 2009 The Beatles sold over 27 million albums and rank number 2 in the top 20 selling artist of this decade. Of course we still technically have about 6 months to go so the number may grow but rather insignificantly I'm sure. Elvis, on the other hand, does not even appear on this list.
samanthalynn6790, Sales and Influence of Elvis Presley was and is greater than Beatles. I am aware because I have lived many decades, knew Elvis prior to his being "known." And, he dated relative of long-time acquaintance of mine. I do not have personal log of statistics BUT will send link to you of expert in the field, soon as I find it among my data. The person is impartial, writes only facts. ---Sis---
BeAtLeSFaN955, Your claim is incorrect. Elvis Presley has not been equalled, certainly not been surpassed in sales statistics. Even Ms. Carey who claimed 18 #1s cannot surpass Elvis Presley with at least 30 #1s. The Beatles have not sold more than a billion according to my research since receiving notice of your comment to me. Elvis Presley has sold more than a billion. So F.Y.I. The Beatles are not bigger than Elvis Presley and will never be. Thank you, Sis
This was such a good show that should not have been cancelled so soon
This Show is so Underrated.
I miss this show. This was one of the better shows on television on a Sunday. It eventually got my mom and my dad to watch it with me!
This was actually my favorite episode when it first aired in 2003 I was twelve years old when the show came out. This song influenced me to be a Beatles fan. It also made Brittany Snow expand her acting career.

i really wish i lived in that era :( i love the beatles and that looks so fun
I miss this great show and American Bandstand.
I love this. I get chills watching it. I like the Beatles but you can fill this scene with any song from a "boyband" that you were obsessed with and it just brings back that feel of wanting to scream the song at the top of your lungs.
The Beatles (1963-1970) had 27 No. 1 Hits. Listen to their No. 1's CD released in 2000. No other band has come close to beating their record.
I USED TO LOVE THIS SHOW AND STILL DO.
Awesome!!!!! Imiss american dreams! =/
It must have been great to be young back there.
I miss this show so much.
I miss this show soo much ! :[
@Lele2007 I was in high school when the Beatles arrived.....it WAS fun to be young back then....The Stones....The Beatles....Elvis....etc.....so many different voices!! :)

Is it okay if this video gives me chills EVERYTIME I WATCH IT?! =DDD
there were only 3 seasons. 04 to 06 im pretty sure, so it's long gone. I loved it so much and i wish i could still watch it every Sunday night.
2002 to 2005.
@llpowers it gives me chills, too man. I miss this show so much and it makes me wish was around during that time...even though I wouldn't trade my '90s childhood for anything, I would have loved to have experienced that time

4:55 - "it's like Elvis"
- "no, it's bigger" =)
this was a great episode of the show!! but i just LOVE the beatles opening of it :D
So corny and yet so great to see!!! I miss this show. :(
Elvis's record sales were botched to make it look like he wasn't slipping under the radar because of the Beatles. When in fact he could never compete with them. He may very well be the king of rock n roll, but the Beatles have always been, and will always be bigger and better, period.
This Saturday night (Feb. 9th) marks the 49th anniversary of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
There's one small incongruity here: by the time The Beatles arrived in the U.S. in February 1964, "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" had moved from WFIL-TV in Philadelphia to ABC's Hollywood facilities....yet, in this "dimension", they're still in Philly!
They wanted to keep the connection to Philadelphia. Hence why they never moved it on the show.
Has NBC thought of an American Dreams reunion ?
legendary
Great

November 1963 America Cried, Three months later America laughed Again

RIP Dick Clark
Have you ever listened to the Beatles?
American Dreams was cancelled much too early. It maintained great ratings. It was a definite great show. Why was it cancelled anyway?
The main character started college, so her life changed. It could have continued, though.
So this is how my parents were...lol
what does that have to do with this show?
Why did this show die?
but he was such a cutie!
I liked this show, American Dreams, very much, but the ratings weren't good enough to sustain it, because in retrospect, the show looked more like a history lession rather than a period drama. Too bad! =S
No, it's bigger.

I'd say record sales are pretty factual wouldn't you?
You know I don't think see the characters just dancing to the original song wouldn't have been as affective. You do need them to sing and if they sing to the original song and you can barely hear it, it wouldn't have been worth the money for the song.
except for the osmonds in the 70's with 12 number 1's in one year alone.
samanthalynn6790,

i want hold your hand from beach boys ,maybe in an alternative reality
@cookidoh093 not even close.
if you wanna believe that go right ahead, but that's definitely not true.
@jhniscolV2 cost too much to produce
